Well, anything is profitable if you look at it in a different way. It all depends on your prespective of things. Bitcoin is for sure profitable as it is gaining popularity today and if goes mainstream for sure it will be be a cash machine for developers. Just try to develop something useful to the world like payment gateways for groceries or something in those lines.

I wondered if indeed there were any interesting project that was worth the trouble to be improved or developed ..
Obviously I do not have the technical knowledge and the appropriate experience to a solo project, so I hope someone clarify me the ideas and if I can direct to a good project / team!

Of course yes many projects related bitcoin for example remittance service, bitcoin's ATM,
 there are not many people whom build this sectors,
for the people who know computers engineering (IT) is like you, building projects for apps markets
exchangers is more suitable for you than other projects.

Bitcoin could be profitable in many ways for people who secure to get in any form of Bitcoin business, you just have to have little entrepreneur spirit and knowlwdge.
I thought at college like yours Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is the obligatory subject by now where students should get some quality information. I'm surrprised to see this is not the case.

i think currently 99% people are using bitcoin for making money. some people are investing their money in buying bitcoin and then holding it for the price increase, as we can see that presently the price of bitcoin is increasing too much. some people are using bitcoin for trading alt coins and are also making money from there. some people are also investing their bitcoins in gambling sites. i think very little number of people are using bitcoin as currency.

Being a student you can explore yourself by browsing google, because you will find many related articles about bitcoin. Even you can estimates how a block chain works. Bitcoin is completely different where you can learn easily when compared to others. Yes many IT people still don't know what is bitcoin.

The buzz word in the industry lately is : BLOCKCHAIN technology. Bitcoin is the currency token being used on top of the Blockchain, but the Blockchain technology can be used for much more. < Example : Smart contracts > The FinTech world is changing now, and a lot of this is being pushed by investments into private Blockchains.

This move is stupid in my opinion, but try telling that to people who has very little knowledge on what makes PUBLIC Blockchains successful.

If you really want it then pursue it ! You are still a student there still so much potential within you If you really want to know more about the technology go buy some books or search all over the web I'm pretty sure that you will learn a lot from it ! Being a blockchain developer is really hard you will really need a lot of hard work and of course you have to be smart but in the end it will pave the price because the salary will be more than you expected ! Meet some people and go to events that compose of crypto oriented individual I am pretty sure that you will learn a lot, Good  luck !

all you need to know is that bitcoin is a currency and a growing one. and since it is still new and is being adopted slowly, it still needs so many different services,... there is a lot of room to work with. one problem is that coming up with a profitable one, and when someone comes up with it, they stick to it themselves not sharing it with anyone because sharing means creating competition!

Blockchain tech is just booming and there are not much developer/experts so if you can learn about it quickly than you may still find your place as one of the successful blockchain expert in the world. You may get hired by some big corporate giants or you can start your own blockchain based projects. Good luck..

i think if you have good skill in codes, maybe you can start to build your own website, the good one is you build faucet website, attract people to play faucet in your sites, you can add the ads so you can have click on the ads and you make money. if you want to get involve with the developer, then you must have best skill in coder because i know that only good coder that will understand the process of the building the project.

first tell us in which field you want to make a project or are looking for a project to contribute to.
you say you have no knowledge of bitcoin and anything technical so it can not be anything related to technical aspects of it.
the only thing left for you is starting a service or find a new service that is looking for contributions and help them. unfortunately I don't know any. you can look at Project Development board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=12.0 and maybe you will find something there. also you can always open up a topic in services board announcing your skills and ask for projects.

It's not just about learning about the bitcoin, but the infrastructer that bitcoin uses, the blockchain and how things work.

The title is misleading to the thread but learning about bitcoin really worth, it may change your life in the future. By troubleshooting you will learn more about bitcoin, transactions, fees, mining etc.

Crytocurrency world does really give you money specially you have knowledge on computer/IT things and as you surf on this forum you will definitely find projects that would really suits your skills and you just need to find them. Money would be still the same on physical world or even more.

Mining BItcoin and altcoins requires capital and I do not think that as a IT student, he is capable of buying mining equipment. Mining consumes a lot of money and electric and It is really hard to do that job alone. Therefore, I think he is suitable for writing and coding things and like and offer it like a service on Bitcointalk. If he succeed, he can gain a lot of money.
