It might be one of the reasons eventually but surely not the only one. If Coinbase had the strenght to put  whatever coin of their choice into top ten capitalization ones they would have chosen a cheaper one to maximize their gains.

"Big boys like Tezos" is yet another very solid reason to stick jealously to my, baking, tezzies for still a lot of time. I have a feeling that the best is yet to come.
Bought them during ICO frenzy back in 2017 AFAIR and most of ones I joined turned out to be scam; luckily there were also some gems in between, and Tezos is the most shining one.
