How to make governments accept bitcoin?

No state currently accepts Bitcoin directly as payment for taxes. However, it's clear that the idea is garnering some interest. In addition to New Hampshire, the state of Utah (maybe not-so-coincidentally the home of Overstock.com) is exploring the idea. This year, Utah State Representative Marc K. Roberts (R), introduced H.C.R. 6, Substitute Concurrent Resolution on Payment Options for State Services which proposes the creation of a Council on Payment Options for State Services to study whether and how the state could accept Bitcoin as a valid form of payment. Included in the list of potential services, via the Office of the State Treasurer and the State Tax Commission, would be the payment of taxes.

For now, most of these ideas are still exploratory - but not so far-fetched. In a recent poll for The Wall Street Journal’s MoneyBeat blog, a whopping 83% of respondents indicated there is a future for cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Whether that future includes a payment option for your taxes remains to be seen.

Well if bitcoin becomes a centralized currency the corporate overlords can use it to gain profit to their people.
Why would they legalize it if they can't gain anything from it?

Yeah if bitcoin can be centralized and provide benefits to governments such as taxes and governments can monitor user activity in bitcoin. Of course the government will not mind to legalize bitcoin

Well, actually it's not the first time when government takes wrong decidion. We have many examples from the history. Sometimes only the practice shows how the decidion accepted on the government's level is working not good. I think accepting bitcoin so fast will show in future all minuses if such decidion.

Very opposite on what I believe, the government will accept bitcoin, you just don't know what is reason of the price increase right now. They are going to support it just like what Japan did and if I can remember, Switzerland's central bank is trying to adopt it too and will use it for their banking services, other countries will accept it very soon.

I think to make Governments accept bitcoin is not easy, because of the need to obtain the consent of the other State institutions such as the Senate or upper House.

I think what governments like best are taxes.
So if bitcoins are handled correctly, without any illegal activities and everybody pays their taxes on them, then I am sure that no government would have something against the use of a cryptocurrency.
Unfortunatelly sometimes someof the things I mentioned are not fulfilled completely by a few users.
That one reason why governments are suspiciously against cryptocurrencies.

I agree with you . Currently bitcoin can not provide tax revenue for the government. Bitcoin does not yet have such rules, but if the government is brave then bitcoin users should wisely report their wealth. Thus we benefit as bitcoin users because of the existence of bitcoin and also the government benefit from getting tax fees.
