As we know, the king Bitcoin, mother of all crypto, is on a very stead bull rise. This time is not like 2013, the uptrend is slower, more controlled, and sustained over time. Ever massive selloffs like the few ones we have seen due the shady chinese government PBoC press releases, cannot stop bitcoin from going up. It always recovers stronger than before. All you have to do is keep buying all those dips.

The question arises: What's the point of holding alts? Not a single altcoin seems worth holding when BTC performs this good. Not a single altcoin is revolutionary enough to be a serious #1 contender. So what's the point in any case? might as well go all in on BTC.

Hold bitcoin in your crypto portfolio and along with it add ICN tokens or Iconomi. It has a diversified fund with 15 % in bitcoin and the rest into the top 8 to 10 altcoins such as dash, monero, steem, ether, etc. Also there is a chance to see it rallying in the coming weeks once the team announces some updates. And did I mention about getting dividends? Wink

Iconomi is an Ethereum token. What will happen when the next Ethereum hard fork/disaster happens? I wouldn't feel very confident holding such a token long term.

Also, what makes you trust that those people are good investors and will make good picks and not run with the money?

How do dividends work? you get paid in ETH? what wallet do you need to get paid? how many ETH per ICN being held you get?

There is a risk with ethereum platform but ICN has  issuesd ONLY tokens on top of ethereum as a mode for paying dividends. I think Ethereum has what it takes to fix if things back fire although it can badly affect the price of ethereum. And ICN can shift to another platform if things don't work well with ethereum.

The people who run Iconomi has about 4 years experience running cashila which has handled funds of investors and traders before. I know that it doesn't guarantee anything but it is good enough to consider adding ICN to a well DIVERSIFIED cypto portfolio.

They have mentioned that dividends will be paid weekly only when the platform is up and running. Note that the platform is still under development. You will get your dividends paid in ETH. Ethereum wallet is fine. But you will need have access to the private key. The rate of dividend is not fixed as it varies according to different factors.

Kindly visit there page and slack group for more info.

well all the things you are saying here about altcoins are almost always true. and as i always say you shouldn't be keeping altcoins as a long term investment ever, not only now that bitcoin price is rising because the risks of that kind of investment is a lot higher.

but that doesn't mean you should invest in any at all just because bitcoin price is rising.

i like to categorize altcoins into two main categories: those that are being trading with bitcoin and USD and those that are only being traded against bitcoin alone.

the first group are going to fall most of the time when bitcoin price is rising, but the second group not always. also there are always exceptions to this rule.

but among all these there are pumps which will cause a profitable investment and also there are things such as the litecoin's segwit and good development news like that which can make the price go up regardless of anything else that is going on.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Well the thing is that altcoins are riskier, but they offer quick returns, unlike bitcoins, which always go up, but only gradually. Most altcoins are probably not good to hold longterm, but if there is s higher risk/reward, then why not. The good thing is that the top altcoins seem to rise as the Bitcoin price increases.

Altcoins are profitable. If you know how to make it profitable. Altcoins are not for long term trading. Its profitable on short term. Also its cheaper than bitcoin. Just be sure you bought a goid altcoin. So it could give you profit. Altcoins are another safe haven when bitcoin crashed. When bitcoin crash. The altcoins are surging. We still need altcoins.

i still hold many coins until now because i don't like to cut loss the coin and it will makes me to loss much of bitcoin. i'd rather to hold the coins because i am sure that the altcoin will be recover in price and will be back soon after btc gets stable for a while. maybe it takes more longer than i can predict but i am fine to waiting for that moment as long as i can make another profit in another times, i think it still worth for me. i know to trading btc pair altcoin is risky but behind the risk, there is a chance to make big profit too.

your primary investment should always be in bitcoin not altcoins not even when bitcoin price is stable you should still continue investing in bitcoin because that is where the real profit and a guaranteed profit exists.

for altcoins, i am currently holding some of them such as litecoin, monero and ethereum but these are always for short term investments. i will sell them as soon as there is a rise and i believe in these 3 major ones to have a rise soon specially litecoin and most possibly ethereum if we can see another dip or some hype again.

there is always a reason for em to hold at least the strong one, like monero zcash etehreum, they can still go very high with the right pump, they are not a dead coin their makret is still healthy, but i would diversify and do like 10% on each, the remaining i would keep in bitcoin to not risk too much, i would also invest in soem new altcoin like pascalcoin or other promising onewith new algorithm and features

Though I think there is great opportunity in buying and holding altcoins right now and using your bitcoins to buy these altcoins as their prices really dropped when bitcoin's prices went up. So I think it is really a great opportunity to get it. Diversifying is a good tip too as not all altcoins will probably go up when bitcoins prices comes back down.

I am currently holding UR and it has a lot of capability to go up. When I earned the UR, the price was 0.00000001 and in a week, the price reached 0.00000055 which is itself a big achievement. With bitcoin prices increasing, there are many altcoins too that are being traded in big volumes on exchange websites. The only issue this is that a small dump can ruin the altcoins and the prices can drop compared to bitcoins that are not affected by huge bump and dumps.

Well, the market volume of UR is not very high and you can not able to hold the amount of UR which is equivalent to 1 Bitcoin. UR is not famous and it seems that people do not like to trade it. However, if you can make a good profit with it, it will be very great. Currently, I am holding bitcoin and ethereum for the long term investment. Ethereum is very very potential and I believe that the prices will definitely increase in the next few years

this now is right time to buy altcoin, because all altcoin this now is cheap
because bitcoin incraese very high price, but altcoin and long time hold
but must choose is good coin, reputable coin and good volume transaction

I agree that now is the right time to buy altcoin because its cheap and price is increasing very high. You must hold it in a long time but must choose good coin, reputable coin and good volume transaction so that you could earn good profit from it. This is a good profitable investment to treasure nowadays and should learn along the way as days goes by.

For altcoins hoping to one day replace bitcoin, no.

But there is a good reason to hold altcoins focusing on meeting specific niche markets, like Gulden for the Netherlands, Doge for a friendly intro to crypto and ArtByte supporting artists & musicians.

All three of these coins have very active real user communities, which brings real growth and they do not have to compete with Bitcoin.

DISCLAIMER: I am the founder of ArtByte, so of course I am biased. If anyone is interested in why a community based coin works, here is a presentation I made about a year ago: http://slideshare.net/MikeCabaniss/artbytepresentation-51478350

I don't have experience with ETH but have seen it doing well among all altcoins. However, I don't believe in holding altcoins or a long time as we all are aware that altcoins do not have a secured lifetime and can be dumped from exchanges anytime with all the investors losing their hard-earned funds. I have lost my altcoins earlier too as they were just dumped from exchanges but I believe that UR can do well. Atleast for now it is growing.

Bitcoin price will surely go to it's skyrocket price but it doesn't mean that it will be a continous run and never will experienced a price decrease. Therefore, there are still percentage of the stage that will shine for other altcoins to make some light again or a pumping scene might happen.

And depend on the alt, as alts are not meant for holding as their price experience a terrible manipulation.

The question arises: What's the point of holding alts? Not a single altcoin seems worth holding when BTC performs this good. Not a single altcoin is revolutionary enough to be a serious #1 contender. So what's the point in any case? might as well go all in on BTC.

Well who knows, maybe one of them could become another bitcoin in the making, people who are into altcoins keeps investing into this ico coin or altcoins, because crypto currency is the future and we need a coin not to replace bitcoin but as to use it alternately with bitcoin,it's on the saying, you should not put all your eggs in one basket.
