If people are bidding BTC60+ for 10GH/s unit, Avalon would be BTC420+.  Mine is currently at $30k which is roughly equivalent to BTC333 ($30k / 90 at current rate).  Granted, you would have to pick mine up locally, but if you are in the area, it's a bargain!

How did you figure? this is a 10GH/s unit, overclockable to 12GH/s, this is a 20% overclock. From what I've seen avalons are only 5% overclockable at most, before you run into hardware errors.

Also, first batch avalons are all 60GH units, no? so at 60, the avalon should be 360?? no?

Well that's the same logic BFL is using in pricing their product too, smaller units are priced higher in terms of $/GH

John, I think maybe you should be keeping track of the first 20 bids or so, so that when people put in fake bids and fail to pay to escrow, the next on the list can be promptly notified.

That's not a bad idea.  Actually a few ideas come to mind.

x% deposit on all bids?  (x between 1 and 10)

How about a silent auction where your bid for BTCx is represented by sending x satoshi to a predetermined address?   (fully refundable at conclusion of auction of course)

Probably a bit late to be discussing this after the auction has started though....

The problem of fakes is that they may bid the price up. So they're doing damage to honest bidders.
