It looks like the API has been hijacked somehow. It's playing the same series of trades over and over again, made to look like a crash is happening. Meanwhile the real price stays at 585.

There is nothing hijacked.  This happened many times before where gox"loops" trades.

Are you saying these trades actually happened? I have heard evidence to the contrary from several people with outstanding orders within the range depicted in the loop.

Bitwisdom reset their volume counters so not nearly this many trades taking place.

Large market order happened.  Then GOX does into a "loop."  Whether or not outside limit orders were filled remains to be seen.  They have also "rolled back" trades b4 if I remember correctly.  Most of this stuff happened around 2 years ago, but apparently problem isnt fixed

Yeah, just a large mkt order shut it down.  happened a lot cpl years ago.  whether or not outside limit orders were hit (and won't be rolled back, as this has happened b4 IIRC) remains yet to be seen

I actually submitted a ticket: "BROKEN: Reset your exchange"

Shows there is still dissonance between the market and the technology - as the market expands this is going to et worse unless ALL the exchanges ensure they have their shit together (technical term that).

This garbage has happened multiple times before. Incompetence that this hasn't been fixed in all these years.

This has happened so much that it would be very rare kind of stupidity if not in some degree intended.

These loops are not random but caused by large sells? So, if you have btc on another exchange, sell before Gox fixes the issue? lol

*edit*
Did mark really just let us all know that as soon as the bug is resolved a massive sell is coming through? really mark?

What on earth just happened on Gox?  Gox trying to up their volume numbers?  Obvious bot buying & selling their own orders... so strange...

I'd like to take this conversation offline. This is the next barrier to entry.
