Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Feels as if we are ready to test new highs. I’m calling new ATH within 2 weeks, who’s with me? Beers are exhausted, we’re within touching distance of $50,000. The correction to $43,300 is already greatly recovered, weak hands are shaken & it’s time to restart the pump engine.

You must pace yourself young Padawan.  I still have several beers in the fridge.

Too late for patience my comrade. I am up to my nuts in sats.

And you also totally missed that you misspelled "bears".  You know, Beers are in the fridge, bears are in the woods.

Cool article thanks for sharing, out of merit but it's worth some. The tagline quote at the end is glorious...

When wealthy normies stop scoffing at Bitcoin, pull their head out of their ass, and start paying real attention:

I have been here since 2013 and I have no merit ego to feed, I'm quite happy where I am, and also, Legendary accounts are more prone to hacking/hijacking, give the merits to some deserving n00b that needs to level up instead.
And for gods sake, don't merit this post you idiots.

The guy stood up and asked me to hold his briefcase while he put on his jacket. I held it with both hands while he put it on. Then I put my hand back in my pocket and walked immediately across the street straight to the police station to make sure I didn't get jumped. Next to the police station was where my car was parked so I hurried to my car, took an alternative route home and finally made it to my apartment. When I took the money out to count it again I noticed that they all had big letters across them "VOID". Fake bills that you would buy on a tour of the currency printer. All of them.

Yep, that's a classic short con, the switch only takes a fraction of a second. And yes you would have had the heavy dropped on you if they couldn't make the exchange, there was no way you were getting out of there with "their" money. So yeah, the localbitcoins is ripe for this kind of robbery which means you really can't do more than a K or two (not worth clunking someone).

No man, I found this great new token that's going to be the next Bitcoin but shinier. It will have longer addresses and there will be MORE coins. Only 90% pre-mine with trillions of coins remaining.

This is going to be HUGE!

I read/skimmed the whole paper.

Section 5, the last section, that outlines "concerns moving forward" had a doozy right off the bat, very fucking telling about institutional investors:

Quote
Capital Efficiency:
One of the concerns that came up most frequently in the interviews we conducted with industry participants was frustration about the lack of capital efficiency in the way both Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are utilized. All of the trading and financing occurring with these cryptocurrencies is pre-funded and often over collateralized. For institutional investors, this means their capital would be effectively locked up. There is no unsecured financing available. Leverage in the system is limited and operates more like a Reg T margin account where participants can only lever their direct account holdings by 100% and no more. At best, a wallet with 10 Bitcoin valued at $40,000 each ($400,000) would only be able to have lending lines equivalent to $800,000 (200% gross) and they would need to leave the $400,000 of Bitcoin they actually own with the entity loaning them the $800,000 as collateral — further reducing their actual leverage.  Many institutional investors seek much higher velocity of leverage on their money, often putting down as little as 10% in certain investments in order to have access to a much larger exposure.

No 'unsecured financing' available? Capital locked up? Not enough leverage? Oh the horror! Boo hoo!

These fucking greedy, corrupt, sons of bitches... I swear.  Angry
