Yeah, true that.

BUT...

what do you consider to happen if bitcoin would switch to PoS one day?
It's not impossible, there's that. Even if would become relevant through future BIPs, what would you think would change implicitly?
OG's leaving? Institutions going all-in? Big miners wrecking it all for the profits? Satoshi coming out like Superman?
This is not a rethoric question (my example answers are rethoric, though). I really asked for your opinion.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not in favor of PoS, this model is just a No-Go for the sake of Bitcoin's "soul" (an analogy), but i can see the point(s) of such a change, which are on top of "good willing" people, but the downsides have to be considered, too, which is most likely not the case with everybody who likes the PoW ideas, they just see their manifests, not much caring about the other possible effects on the system, which are by no means always positive, imho.
But there's always a bad aftertaste with "good will", inherently, i think most of us here know that "good will" (aka. "wanting only the best for something/somebody) is most always not really the best, especially in hindsight.

I know that Bitcoin is not Bitcoin without PoW, even if i didn't explicitly point that out. And that was the expected answer, but i did want to read WatChe's opinion.

You have a rational question that why bitcoin can't move to PoS?
We all have consent that bitcoin is not switching to PoS but why?

If you see cryptocurrencies on cmc then apart from Bitcoin almost all are centralized, i.e. there is someone who is controlling it. Ethereum was supposed to be next decentralized crypto after Bitcoin but it also shattered that illusion by switching to PoS. Since that tells the story that it's in the hands of few developers. They can do manipulation any time.

The reason why bitcoin is leader is mainly because people have trust that its decentralized and that's mainly because no few people can change its code. To me Bitcoin is very much distributed and its not possible to take control of thousands of nodes that's managing bitcoin and that's why it can't switched to PoS.

For me, there is more chance of snow in Africa then bitcoin switching to PoS (or changing its code).

Glad I helped. I don't actually own it, but thinking about buying it. I discovered it a few days ago, in one of Sabine Hossenfelder's videos:

YouTube — The Do's and Don't's of Good Sleep, According to Science

You can get 15% off your order if you purchase it by clicking her link in the video's description.

I hope it is as good as it looks in the video...

It's the first week of December and Bitcoin as already crosses $42k mark and that gives me more confidence in my prediction that Bitcoin will reach $50k in value before 2024. We still have so many days to see Bitcoin at $50k and there can be Christmas surprise as well. I'm quite sure that Santa might be keeping that thing as surprise for us. I'm still positive that Bitcoin will reach $50k in this month and may reach very high levels in 2024-2025.

Torque's reply 655321:  Yeah, but they monkey-hammered gold this morning.  Yes, I agree re Wall Street would just love to pick up some battered shares when (not if) that time comes.

Richy-T: 655335:

Yes, but to get back to 1BTC:1kg Au (at earlier today $2140) we would need to be at some BTC @ $68,000+.  Gold was priced a lot lower when BTC first passed 1 kg, that does hint that BTC has more room to run up than gold.

Good find. I looked for "BlissLights Sky Lite 2.0" and found the site for it, but it says "Out of stock". Amazon too.  Angry

Edit: There are some similar products on the BlissLights site, not sure how similar they are, will check it out. I have a thing for lighting, and this sure looks very interesting, both for myself and as a gift.

Can become tempting for some bitcoin holders to want to sell some bitcoins and spend on the Christmas season where there is a lot of buying of wants and not needs.

and Why not?! many have made profit already.

Here's a good reason to keep holding, these times when bitcoin is performing well presents one very good scenario to distinguish the real holders from the fakes.

OK, thanks for indirectly answering my question (FYI: There definitely has been snow in Africa already)
So we both (three, including JJG) agree that Bitcoin is no more (Bitcoin) without PoW.
