Also, being bitten by the Black Widow Spider there and moving to another state soured me on the possibility of living out in the sticks.  I also saw snakes on the place...  South Texas has some nasty creatures.

Rick can't stand Tarantulas.

Austin is practically overrun with them, from what I'm led to understand.

Not so much in the area we are looking in. Guess it gets too cold up here. Not many scary things around the Dallas parallel. Brown Recluse, Black Widow, Water Moccasins, and the occasional Rattle Snake are all that I'm aware of. Have only ever personally eyeballed a Black Widow around these parts.

They are bigger than I thought they would be.

Black windows look cool.

They are bigger than I thought they would be.

Is that because black windows need to be bigger to let in the same amount of light as regular windows? Hmmm  Huh

You know what's crazy... first few weeks I was in Dallas (90s) I was walking in a park in Oak Cliff, and made my way onto a tennis court.  Just randomly.

And like 8 tarantulas came out of the brush on the other side of the chain link fence on one side... scampered across the court to the other side and disappeared into the brush over there...

Ever since then I look kinda horse-eyed at every tennis court I see... but, never again have a seen that.

I forgot. Scorpions. Have seen Scorpions around here. Very rare, tho. Have never personally eyeballed a Tarantula around these parts, but have heard anecdotal reports, like yours.

OK, I'm as happy as the next camper to see today's BTC pump.  But, I have not seen an explanation for why.

So what's behind todays little pump-thing?

Last week's GME/Robinhood debacle resulted in people seeing the financial system as a corrupt system that you can't beat.

When people started asking "what can we do about it?", the collective response was DeFi/Bitcoin.

At least in the echo chamber I follow on Twitter.

Other reports showed that r/Bitcoin was flooded with over 100,000 new subscribers on Friday. The exchanges were getting overwhelmed by new sign ups on Friday and Monday.

Today peoples' dollars are finally reaching the exchanges.

Also, India's threat to make Bitcoin illegal which caused a small dip was found out to be just a proposal by someone in government.

It is simply that demand exceeds supply. This is what has been happening since we started going up and passed $20k. There is brutal demand from institutional investors. The recent drop was because F2 mining pool (F2pool) has been selling a lot, they are the biggest pool, but I guess they have stopped/reduced sales volume and the price has gone back up.

Since we're all talking about shitcoins, I dragged a pair of Titans out of the shed and set them up to mine Doge for the heat. They are *quiet* and surprisingly warm, two of them pulling 500 watts total can keep a cold room comfortable.

I could probably pop a pair of Neptunes out in the other room just to say I am still mining bitcoins. I think I'll do that :-)

GME, XRP, DOGE, and silver all falling back to earth.

Squeezes and pump and dumps over, nothing to see here, move along.  Cheesy

[...]

Man! Don't put the doggie coin in the same basket! Tongue
I actually stood and meditated on this sh!t.. Smiley .. Listen here:  Basically I make a few thousand Doge from trades every few minutes. And if they say that they print out 10K doge every few minutes. There are like a million miners or some sh!t like that, they get 10K split in million pieces. They almost get nothing. While I dry the supply by trading just in a few minutes. The math does not make sense. Because if I'm making that kind of coin so fast, then others do the same thing. So, the actual mined supply, just vanishes and the charts just become more chaotic and the price goes up & down without much sense. Smiley

WTF?  We have solicitations and trying to appeal to richies, here?

I might need some help cleaning my bathrooms in the coming days.. and I am not really very good at the kitchen either....

Actually, I have been told that I am not very good at cleaning any of the locations... so if you could scuttle your little butt over here to my place and clean the place up so that my invited chicks do not keep getting mad at me and scurrying out, I will treat you fairly... just don't steal anything...

By the way, that is what you get for not making reasonable and adequate investments in bitcoin in the past 7-8 years... sure, you might not have been completely saved from your apparent irresponsible abilities to engage in prudent money management, but reasonable and prudent investing into bitcoin could well have created some kind of cushion for you in times like this.. but maybe your state of begging now shows that you would have never been able to have managed your bitcoin stash even if you had established a reasonable one by having had started investing in it 7-8 years ago.. like you should have.

By the way (II), difficult to feel any sympathy for a begging no coiner like you, and it is NOT like you have really contributed to this thread in any kind of meaningful way - except whine about being a no coiner, and now you are a begging no coiner.. yeah.. you really deserve some donations...  yeah right...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Yes, I agree with you that demand exceeds supply and it's mainly caused by institutional investors. However, I don't think F2Pool caused the crash. The market was simply running overheated and it was due for a correction. To be fair their massive selling didn't start until after we peaked at $42,000. Maybe they managed to suppress the price for a while during the correction/consolidation, but they didn't cause the crash.

I have been following this story over at YouTube as well. It's funny to listen to all these youtubers screaming "how can we stop this", "market manipulation" etc. I mean, come on. F2Pool is running a business here. If they can manage to run their operations without constantly selling, it only makes sense for them to unload some of their reserves when the price is going parabolic. They are just trying to make as much profit as possible. Eventually they will run out of coins to sell if they keep selling like they have done recently.
