Destroy the economy and nobody has any reason or funds to travel. Simple.

We need to sit down and watch some Mad Max movies Richy. Do you have Leather chaps by chance?

That depends why you're asking.

Though in fact, whatever the reason, the answer is no. That's more a Harley guy kinda thing.

I used to have a colleague at work who would use the term "assless chaps" whenever trying to insult someone's masculinity; strangely, he would always giggle afterwards as if it never got old.  Every time I heard him say it, I would remind him that all chaps are assless but he never stopped saying it (or giggling).  I might not have as sound a case as I did with the "assless" aspect but if your chaps aren't leather, you're probably doing it wrong.

I take it the Biden lovers here still love him after threatening to double capital gains tax, right, because it's gonna go to a "good cause"?

Imagine taking out capital gains over $1m anyways.. What is this, why not just convert to corn ASAP?

I pushed back my casino trip to sit on my ass and play Railroad Tycoon III and listen to those vids.

Never played that game, but I've been listening to some Civilization 1 music that someone uploaded on youtube.

Hah, forgot what it sounded like so checked it out and its still pretty cool.

got it playing in the back ground now while I check posts. Smiley

I don't understand this.  Rather than pay a (yet to be proposed) higher capital gains tax, Americans would pull their money out of the markets right now and put it into what?  Is the plan to make no capital gains in the future?!

Whoaza!!!!!  that does look pretty scary for both.  I would not feel too comfortable with the panicking guy grabbing my leg, even if I were to be tethered.

When my Step grandmother was drowning (She couldn't swim and was bouncing around the ledge when she slipped toward the center) I dove in and got under her and pushed her up and tried to get her to the side of the pool (it was a 28 foot round with 4ft on the edge dropping to 7ft in the center) and she was acting just like that guy literally holding me and trying to stand on me without letting me get away. She was a few hundred pounds and I was probably all of 60lbs (skinny 10yr old). Luckily my mother was looking out the window and ran out and dragged her off me while i was holding her above water and running out of breath or I wouldn't be typing this.

Its amazing how easily some people panic!

I basically got drowned like that by a mentally handicapped kid about twice my size when I was young..
Like out of body experience drowned almost died..

He held me under forever using me as a floaty and then finally put his feet on my shoulders and kicked me way down under water which I managed to swim up and away from him afterward..

Thought I was dead..

No good deed goes unpunished.

Plenty ways for plenty people on the border range of having to pay something like that (if it passes which is probably 50-50 I'd say) to think of other ways of making money.
A crypto or stock whale could draw money out now and invest in property now with guaranteed rental income rather than Biden hurting an entire portfolio of assets in one go etc.

The closer taxes get to the 50% threshold, the more people will just think I'm not going to bother and wait for a gain that may or may not happen if I have to pay that much.
A large part / most of Bitcoin and stock prices are made up of confidence ratings.

Or just take money out now, pay the 20% move to a tax heaven and have it done asap with without a threat of ever having to pay more in the future.

Seems logical to me.

We don't have a capital gains tax, but as far as I understand you'd pay the current tax if you withdraw now.
So, if you gained $100 and tax is 20%, you owe $20 in taxes now if you realize the gains. Then you start from scratch with no gains, and taxes go up to 40% only on your future gains (not on your past gains).

I never really got this though: if the tax is fixed, why would you want to postpone paying the tax, if you have to pay it eventually anyway? Unless you're hoping for the tax to go down.
