I worry a little bit about what will happen when we see a correction.
A few calls will expire worthless, depending on timing?

No... nevermind.  Bitcoin is doomed.  It will never go up an more than it has.  The idea of a super cycle is entirely bogus and wrong.

I thought for a second we were going to breech $100K. We came damn close… It seems imminent to me that we will hit $100K in the next few hours. Not sure I’ll be able to sleep tonight until we do. This is so much more exciting than when we hit $10,000. Maybe even more exciting than when we hit $1,000, just because that time it caught everyone off guard.

Wasn't Goat the one that got arrested for stealing the 50k-ish silk road coins and he pretty much gave them to uncle sam in a trade for a relatively light sentence?

I thought that was Loaded.

I was pondering the theoretical possibility that US would go for a bitcoin reserve (it might be quite possible, in fact).
If so, it would be relatively difficult to source btc without causing price jumps, considering competition from all over the world.

Alas, here is an idea: allow investors to trade in their bitcoin at a daily fair value (or even with a  small discount of 1-3%) to US treasury on a condition that $$ proceeds would be tax free at least at the federal level.

Trump was talking about making 'american" bitcoin tax free...above is the way to do it with both parties benefiting.

Additionally, another positive development would be to allow in-kind bitcoin redemption (and creation) at ETFs.
So, you would be able to exchange bitcoins for ETF shares and vice versa.
It has to be a nontaxable exchange too in order for this to work.
Benefit: it is easier to get a loan against a security as securities borrowing market is well established.

I have just noticed that we are about reach the 21 BTC = $2M figure... Not so long ago still considered somewhat (YMMV) an "entry level fuck you money" figure. Probably not anymore except for some third world countries... but still an interesting historical milestone...

$2M is a LOT

One whole millionth of the Earth's (and Universe's) total btc supply... only entry level?

Yeah, just imagine one millionth of all silver.

I like paper money (because I'm an old fart). But it seems so out of date...

Could Microstrategy end up being the Bitconnect for this cycle? I see people dumping their entire net worth into it and selling long dated call options. I worry a little bit about what will happen when we see a correction. People’s self directed retirement accounts could get wrecked. With people buying MSTR essentially paying $200K for BTC it is beginning to sound warning bells.

Why are people doing this, ability to use their 401K or some tax reason like that ?

Of course...no immediate taxes in IRA and NO taxes whatsoever in Roth IRA.
I regret that i did not play (just had GBTC, then transitioned to IBIT/FBTC).
That said, it is entirely possible that as btc goes to 200K, MSTR would go to about $160-180 (from this morning $550).
At least, it should be based on their NAV.
Clearly, MSTR was overheated (to a high pressure steam level).

which is all in effect under current tax laws. next january trump gets sworn in . and has the ability to alter all those laws in a manner that effects shit bigly.

but for now til jan 21 no worries.

look at how brilliant trump is bye bye matt gaetz. and he will blame liberals for it happening.

once more trump is protecting woman 👩 even if they dont want his protection.

first victory is in the books for trump.

orange man clever.

even if everything you say was true, you give the light impression of sliding into some kind of Trump derangement syndrome...
