Is this an exciting new version of the $5 wrench attack? If so, it leaves the question to be answered of… What is it called? The rusty prostate attack? Massaging people’s keys away?

Yeah, it's to be called the "¢5 rusty pipe attack" then.
But since ChatGPT wasn't able to answer what a rusty pipe attack (on bitcointalk) means, i may have trained it enough back then that it may be capable of answering your question. It's a semi-classic from 2018 (i think, may be more recent) born by a regular Legendary of this here parts who should have extensive knowledge of these matters.
@cAPS seems to be catching up, though.

I agree with your stance on this in part, but adding to the blockchain and the security of the network is not the only reason to run a node.  And just because a non-mining node could be a sybil doesn't mean it is one. nor does it mean the person running that node does not contribute to their own sovereignty as well as the consensus of the rules on which all nodes operate.  But obviously this is a can of worms with which we've selected our favorite worms and are sitting down for dinner right now, so I see no reason to belabor it much.

For sure, there *are* reasons why one would want to run a node and surely even, 'just because I want to' is reason enough. I would say that any contribution to the consensus is miniscule, especially compared to the same user but who doesn't. But agreed not to belabor.

USA and Russia will attempt to melt the ICE of the world bigly.

Still trying to get my wife to move to  higher ground.

As they may manage to melt enough to flood me out where I live now.

building tree house in back yard now

how many feet up ya think i should go?

Tree houses are good. It is best to have solid support from the tree. 🌴

I would prefer the house to be over 16 feet from the ground.

The key is to build the tree house next to a big hornet nest so nobody will come after you.

So even though silver reached 79 and wants to do 80 the ebay sales are a bit slow.

Do you think Silver has topped? Still room to go higher?

I know you didn't ask me and this chart is a few weeks old so silver has gone up even more...  I can't even answer your question because nobody knows for sure.  HOWEVER, I think it is pretty clear that this is the 3rd time silver has bubbled like this and I would be surprised if we don't see a sub-$40 silver price within the next 2 years.  Can we hit $100 first?  Maybe.  Is the market different this time and now silver is going to $1,000?  History would say no.  I was a silver buyer below $20.  I'm a silver seller above $70.

$0.05 for all that metal? I don't think so. Maybe Phil would know more accurate numbers.

Silver wouldn't get rusty, exactly. But you may get it for that cheap if it would  Wink

I was assuming the pipe was just a piece of waste from a demolition site and i would give the worker a Dollar for a few pieces of delicately bent, broken and totally rusty 2-inch pipe, each several meters in length.
I admit i was lowballing quite a bit, so let's agree on ¢50 per conveniently sized piece of adventurously rotten iron pipe?

It could pass 90 soon.

As for 100 not so sure.

and as for dropping back to 65 soon polymarket gives very good odds that if it goes under 65 before Jan 31- feb 1 you score.

These odds allow me to try a hedge for the next listing.

List a roll of silver dollars at 90 an oz
and bet price falls below 65 and oz on polymarket

[...]

That's a fair point.

I think a proper rusty pipe would have to be made of the lowest grade, most rustable type of metal. Something like low-grade iron, which forms flaky, deep, penetrating rust. Something like this:

Now, that's the kind of pipe that's worth its rust.
