I have 5 cell phone numbers.

Complex to the why of that.

But I need a different cell for each mine I was managing .

SO that's 3 then 1 for my wife and 1 for me.

When I folded the mining I could have closed them.

But I kept 1 for my hosted mine
1 FOR Google auth
1 for my bro in law.

I REALLY don't like phones for the security risks they pose.

 I wonder if they make a quad-SIM phone?

THE U.S. DOLLAR IS TESTING THE SAME ZONE THAT TRIGGERED THE 2017 AND 2021 BITCOIN BULL RUN.

So I can't report anything directly tangible to what you're wondering, but I can give you some expert witness testimony.

I think the power grid in Texas is doing pretty damn good.  The state has had some temperatures around 10f/-12c.  These are outlier temperatures for the Texas area.  All of the bitcoin mines that have been built since Texas had their icepocalypse some years back have been a real game changer for the states grid.

But I believe the mines are required to shut down at Ercot's demand, and they do. That's part of their deal. So I would think most of the Texas mines are down so that the grid has plenty of excess energy for the excess needs.

I also believe Texas does hold a fairly large amount of hash rate in the world so I don't know what the percentage means across the board but I would expect Texas to be out of the game for a minute although I would also expect to be back in the game here pretty soon.  I think there are more extremely cold nights coming, but this type of thing doesn't happen in Texas for very long.

I found some Androids for less than $30 on Alibaba, but I wonder if they're practical devices or to keep the SIM in standby?

As someone who has a lot of experience buying both nice and shady Android devices from all different sources, I can tell you a little about these type.

You're taking risks when you buy one of those.  in quality obviously, but most of them also have older software installed probably very difficult to upgrade and even difficult to do things like root them or other stuff like that.

So first of all, you want to be buying something that you don't intend to have a lot of power over and a lot of ability to upgrade.

But perhaps more importantly, there has been evidence for many years that some cheap Chinese networked electronics are spy devices.  Software can be modified to phone home and they've even been known to put chips that log various things and report back somehow in hardware.

That said, big name Android devices are doing exactly the same thing. Google and Samsung, for example, are recording everything you type.

The reason I say this is if you're just using it as a burner, then that's fine. But if you are wanting something secure, it's definitely a thinner ice for that.

But also on this off-topic subject, I keep thinking of virtual services like Google Voice, where you can get a number that does texting and phone calls and everything else, but it's all kind of a voip, doesn't need a SIM, that kind of thing.

Obviously, there's security issues around that kind of thing, too, but it may be possible to get multiple numbers working without having to have all this hardware.

I'm planning to buy myself a foldable soon, just waiting for Oppo to introduce its new model in the next month. It is supposed to be even better than its predecessor, the N5. The only problem is that it probably won't be sold in the EU and the US, and importing from China means paying very expensive VAT and customs, which means at least a 35-50% higher price.

 They're all foldable imo; some just don't return to the unfolded state as well as others.  Bigger pockets would be cheaper and more fashionable.

The story I read (before the storm hit) was that miners were voluntarily shutting down to free up the energy grid for potential emergency situations. The media would rather say their operations went down because of a storm though. Weasley little bastards they are.

In any event… If you ever wanted to try your hand at solo mining, now is a great time.

Another perspective:

The dollar does not really weaken in regard to BTC, due to the integration of $$ tokens (usdt, usdc). The dollar is in that sense 'diversified' to that extent that the definition of weak needs to be revised, also when speaking of weak in general (vs other currencies, flows, markets). The dollar is only perceived as weak from the archaic point of view. In the new perspective, the dollar is as weak/strong as those parts of its economy which it supports (holds good relationships with).

While I more than most fucking hate these corporate stalkers, AFAIK they only added a optional upload that is OFF by default unlike other POS corporations That sneakily change settings defaults with updates.

With that being said you really need to audit anything you use these days and verify don't trust needs to be the norm in all things because apparently its legal these days to be a lying piece of excrement.

And corporations are now "people" except they have more rights than actual people.

Almost everything now keeps data. It would get worse as time goes on. Data is expensive but they get it for free.
