It was a purely custodial wallet they had for the giveaway. I think I wrote the password down or used one of a few I keep for such situations and then forgot about it. The custodial wallet is now gone so I can't even try some of the possibilities. I was skeptical about Ripple from the beginning and their removal of the wallet with no warning (that ever came across my notice) is just emblematic of their attitudes and intentions to me.

I also had a not dissimilar issue with some ETH that I bought and paid for. I was able to recover those by using the etherium wallet webpage from long ago on archive.org. Not that they're worth all that much.

While we're on the subject of lost coins, if the owner of the ex-pool, multipool would like to contact me about my BTC that currently have the appearance of being stolen, it would be appreciated.

It's not even an inverse Bart. More like shake shake, recover (lower and lower highs though). I'm sure patience will be rewarded.

The other thing I got going on is I can't shake this really, really bad feeling about the clarity thing.

OT: A few lessons from the Cerebras IPO ( a hot AI chip company).

1. AI is vastly overpriced right now. There is no money to be made on those IPOs at the starting price, at least, imho.
2. Listen to your research, not other people opinions. Last year I looked at Cerebras at about 1/10 of todays price, seriously considered investing some, but they had just ONE customer and , essentially, no sales, yet had a 8bil market cap, most people opinions were negative, so I passed.
3. same with Intel which was a crappy stock for 25 years. Again, I looked at it at $20-25, but did not buy. I should have seen that the "tide was rising" for all chip stocks, but, somehow, it did not click.
4. No matter, there are ALWAYS opportunities, but those with the best prospects are always the most difficult to see.
5. I have to problem with keeping the majority of my funds in bitcoin.
6. I will probably sit out SpaceX as well (at least for a few months or even years).

Just remember deer are vicious killer willing to commit suicide to whack  people.

Bear are less of an issue.

Deer whacking people count in 2024 = 204 people
Bears whacking people count in 2024 = 9 people

had several very close encounters with deer in my time.. and its not even like all that emergency super duper antilock collision avoidance system on new cars can do much either

like, a thousand pound of meat and bone wait until youre 10 feet away at 50 MPH to.......   jump into your car.

yeah no thanks

the windshield cut me in 20 places on my face yet each and every cut was very very very shallow . no stitches  and now 28 years later no marks or scars.

But if I am on a highway and see a fucking deer. my heart skips a bit and a shit ton of adrenaline still flows in me.

If my wife was in the car that day she would have got full force of the blow as the deer hit the front passenger side of the window.

it broke its neck on the front passenger hood went up in the air and hit the windshield. The timing was such I saw a black shadow and the windshield exploded.

My foot was on the brake as I was exiting onto an exit ramp. So I slammed the brakes when I was hit. If it had my foot on the gas I would have slammed the gas.

that days was one of the nine lives used up for sure.

(I like to think of myself as a cool cat thus 9 lives)

Yeah, these moments you realize: that could have been it.

Are you sure that wasn't only seven lives?

I certainly can make the case that his actions could be worrisome for the Bitcoin price at some point.  And that's the problem with so much Bitcoin centralizing in one place.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Because everyone is using the same few custodians to hold it.

But I can't bring myself to care about what he's doing with his company beyond the fact of just realizing that it could rock my personal boat all over the place.

I liked the version of Saylor that was the Bitcoin evangelist and seemed to really understand why Bitcoin is different.  But he was showing his true colors back then, too. He knew what to say.

And I would say this version of Saylor is now just taking the wheels off and trying to do everything he can inside the legacy system to execute the most complex and powerful speculative attack possible.

I would totally not be surprised if there was also cocaine involved.

But I don't see another way we can do this.  Bitcoin has to be able to withstand this level of potential abuse.

This is also why I laugh at "fix the money fix the world" type stuff.

I do think Bitcoin as a tool is one of the most positive things to ever happen to mankind. But I've never thought that it would somehow overcome humanity's ability to fuck each other over endlessly. In fact, in some ways, it just accelerates our ability to do it.

The logical pathways for what's going on with strategy are pretty simple.

And the Occam's razor view of what the legacy system is currently doing is also very clear they are doing everything they can to gather up as much Bitcoin under their control as possible.

And even if their strategy was to try to shake all the money out of the tree and cut it down... along the way they have begun to realize that they are heavily incentivized not to do that. Lol.

And the hardest part of it all is, if it turns out they can, then we were all just fools.

I get your concerns about Saylor being able to control Bitcoin
But even if he has so much Bitcoin the highest he can do is to influence the market sentiment and price short term, he can not control the market since Bitcoin network rules are decentralised and run by nodes globally
That is why I prefer to buy and hold than to trade, because of all these volatility

There is no risk of them controlling Bitcoin from this, that is a misunderstanding how Bitcoin works. You are right, the main effect can be to damage Bitcoin in a targeted way but people forget about incentives. Why would you damage it when you can make a lot of money with it? Maybe less conspiracy theories would be good here.
