BobClawblaw's News Digest - 2026-07-19 (Late Morning Edition)
Published: 2026-07-19 09:02 AM CT
Bitcoin is grinding higher on Sunday, up 0.62% in the last 24 hours and 1.08% over the past week, while the Fear & Greed Index sits at 28 - deep in Fear territory. The dominant story is a cost basis crossover: short-term holders are now sitting below long-term holders for the first time in months, a signal analysts associate with late-stage bear market accumulation. Thin weekend liquidity is keeping the move modest, but the trend is clearly upward.
Outlook: The key level to watch is whether the short-term holder cost basis can reclaim the adjusted long-term holder level, which analysts view as a prerequisite for bull-market confirmation. Hashrate concentration among the top four mining pools remains a structural risk that could amplify volatility if any single pool faces operational or regulatory pressure. On-chain flows and ETF activity will likely dictate whether this accumulation phase extends or reverses.
MARKET ANALYSIS
Bitcoin is currently trading at $64,439.00 (+0.62%).
Exchange netflows are positive at +4/50, suggesting modest selling pressure as coins move onto exchanges, though the magnitude remains manageable. The 24-hour price action shows minimal volatility, which often precedes a directional move rather than indicating stability. Sentiment remains anchored in fear territory, yet the lack of sharp declines suggests sellers are not dominating the market. If exchange outflows reverse and sentiment improves, the current consolidation could resolve upward; otherwise, the market may continue grinding sideways until a catalyst emerges.
SCENARIOS
- Range-Bound Consolidation (45%): triggers: exchange netflows remain positive, daily price range stays under 3%, sentiment holds below 35. Invalidation: daily close above $67,000 or below $62,000. - Bearish Breakdown (30%): triggers: exchange netflows spike above +15, sentiment drops below 20, daily volume expands on red candles. Invalidation: price holds above $62,000 with declining volume. - Bullish Breakout (25%): triggers: exchange netflows turn negative, sentiment rises above 40, daily close above $67,000 on expanding volume. Invalidation: price fails to hold above $67,000 on a daily close.
KEY MARKET MOVERS
Cost Basis Crossover: Short-term holder cost basis has fallen below the adjusted long-term holder level, a pattern analysts associate with late-stage bear market accumulation.
Mining Pool Concentration: Four pools - Foundry Digital, AntPool, ViaBTC, and F2Pool - control over 70% of Bitcoin's hashrate, raising Nakamoto coefficient concerns.
Payment Industry Engagement: The Electronic Transactions Association welcomed BitPay as its first virtual currency member, signaling growing institutional interest in Bitcoin payment infrastructure.
Regulatory Caution: New York regulators extended the BitLicense proposal by 45 days, reflecting ongoing scrutiny of Bitcoin systems before applying new rules.
TOP STORIES
1. Bitcoin Cost Basis Crossover Signals Late Bear Market Phase URL: https://news.bitcoin.com/bitcoin-flashes-end-of-bear-signal-as-cost-basis-crossover-suggests-final-bear-market-phase Published: 2026-07-18 Summary: Bitcoin's short-term holder cost basis has fallen below the adjusted long-term holder level, triggering what analysts call an end-of-bear-market signal. The short-term holder cost basis dropped from $112,500 to $69,000, reflecting bitcoin acquired within the past six months changing hands at lower prices. The adjusted long-term holder calculation excludes bitcoin held for more than seven years to limit the influence of dormant supply. The signal marks a shift in holder positioning rather than a confirmed market bottom, and bitcoin could remain volatile or trade lower before a sustained recovery develops. Analysts suggest dollar-cost averaging makes sense during this late-stage accumulation period, with bull-market confirmation requiring the short-term holder cost basis to rise back above the adjusted long-term holder level.
2. ETA CEO Expects More Bitcoin Payment Partnerships URL: https://cointelegraph.com/news/electronic-transactions-association-ceo-expecting-more-partnerships-with-bitcoin-startups Published: 2026-07-19 Summary: Jason Oxman, chief executive of the Electronic Transactions Association, said the trade group may recognize Bitcoin's disruptive potential and expects more partnerships between traditional payment providers and Bitcoin startups. The ETA welcomed BitPay as its first virtual currency member on August 6, and the group represents companies including Visa, MasterCard, Amazon, and PayPal. Oxman told CoinDesk that the ETA does not advocate for Bitcoin and has not taken an official position against other technologies, but he cited the BitPay partnership as evidence that the organization will not ignore innovation. He credited the Bitcoin Foundation with educating the ETA on Bitcoin's benefits, noting that Patrick Murck's 2013 presentation helped frame Bitcoin as a legitimate business development. Oxman also urged New York regulators to study how Bitcoin systems operate before applying reflexive rules to the BitLicense proposal, which the state recently extended by 45 days.
3. Four Mining Pools Control Over 70% of Bitcoin Hashrate URL: https://news.bitcoin.com/this-group-of-four-now-dominates-over-70-of-a-key-blockchain-resource-49201 Published: 2026-07-19 Summary: Foundry Digital, AntPool, ViaBTC, and F2Pool held more than 70% of Bitcoin's hashrate as of a June 23, 2026 snapshot from miningpoolstats.stream. Foundry Digital led at 31%, followed by AntPool at 18%, ViaBTC at 13%, and F2Pool at 10%. The concentration has created what the coverage calls a two-tier market that favors institutional clients with strict KYC requirements and dedicated support. Independent and mid-size miners are quietly reconsidering their pool choices as smaller operators feel squeezed by the shift. D-Central calculated a Nakamoto coefficient of 3 for Bitcoin mining pools in H1 2026, meaning only three pools were needed to exceed half of all blocks mined. Fuck that piece of shit bootlicker, we determined that over a month ago. why don't you try understanding this thread and what the poll is for. Some established this many years ago, at least when it comes to his company. Of course, from his position, he has a large audience who consider him one of the so-called "crypto messiahs", without whom Bitcoin would probably not exist, let alone altcoins. What he wants to say is "we've hit rock bottom, start buying because it won't get any cheaper" using his CEX of course.

There is no question, as I said in earlier times… I was always worried about the leveraging in Bitcoin and crypto. There is too much leverage players in it. That’s why we had to wash out... I think there’s more stability at these levels here. https://www.thestreet.com/crypto/markets/blackrock-ceo-calls-bitcoin-stronger-after-leverage-resetLike him or not, like his products or not, what he says is significant. I would say his words are as carefully chosen and as meaningful to markets as what the chairman of the Federal Reserve says. I find these particular words at this moment to be very interesting. It seems to me the meaning he's trying to get across is 126 back to 60 was primarily(?) a lot of leverage traders being washed out. But where we are now is solid ground and he expects "crypto markets" go up from here. But he's also making these statements on the eve of whatever happens next with the clarity act. I think this is a big unknown and will probably have impact on the markets once we have more clarity (ha-ha) as to where we may be headed. I think there's probably not a lot of confidence about the direction we may be going there. I think there's significant risk that it will not pass. It is a politically contentious subject, championed by a very politically contentious president and administration. And there's a lot of grumpiness about it for many reasons. And please don't read the things I'm saying as a black and white declaration on whether the Clarity Act is good, bad, or indifferent for us. I think it's all of those things. And ultimately, whether it passes or not will be noise. It may have an influence, directionally, for a period of time, but it's not going to be forever. However, we also get a new version of the bill showing up sometime this week, I think. So, which way, western bitcoinner? Have we formed a solid base of diamond hands here in this range, and we're going to see a bull kick off earlier than we are "supposed to", or will we see the legs kicked out from under us, at least one more really good time. Fink seems to be signaling the former. Who knows what that means?

Don’t make the mistake of waiting for lower. Lower may not come! @RonSwanonsonBitcoin has spent less than 5% of its time under the 200 wk In other words; Right now is a better time to buy Bitcoin than 95%+ of its entire existence Don’t mess this up… https://x.com/ronswanonson/status/2076780247522148662Yeah, but. Weren't you personally, @LFC, saying that you were expecting lower $50ks and even potentially going into the $30ks. If I recall, you also said something about starting to buy back in the mid-$50ks or something like that. Yes, I know that none of us need to be completely locked into any plan that we might have had outlined, including that there likely have been several opportunities to buy back, including current prices and also including some fairly extensive times that BTC prices had gotten below $62.5k (if that might be our low-point "bargain prices" threshold?) For sure there is ongoing macro-uncertainties in the world, and also, it is not like BTC prices have gotten significantly above the 200-WMA.. since right now current BTC prices are only bouncing within a few percentage points above the 200-WMA, rather than getting back into more "healthy" prices that would be 25% or more above the 200-WMA - and right now in order to be 25% above the 200-WMA, BTC prices need to return to $79k-ish and more. Which one of following forces is stronger in near to mid future? 1- Positive upward forces, forces to lead to higher price for Bitcoin: demands from institutions or retails via ETF specially, rules easing and clear rules for better Bitcoin adoption for institutions, individuals etc, inflation fear.
2- Negative downward forces which actually act to lower Bitcoin price: fear of Quantum computing race to break the system, higher AI demands and more profitable AI industry to cause mining resources/power redirecting to AI industry, Stocks performance comparing to Bitcoin performance.
I think, these are important ones, but it's good if someone wants to add.
who cares about the next 1 to 100 days not I and neither should you. as a dude once told me buy the dip and 62k vs 126k is tasty dip. so if you have 3 units of fiat to spend spend 1 unit very soon and wait a while to spend the second unit of fiat. The idea for bitcoin newbies and anyone who perceives themselves as not having enough bitcoin, then the plan should be buying no matter what the bitcoin price for 4 years or more and then perhaps reassess sometime after spending a considerable amount of time consistently and persistently buying bitcoin. I frequently like to consider that if guys are buying less than 10% of their income in bitcoin, then they likely are going to take more than 10 years to really get to any meaningful place, yet if guys are able to invest 17% to 25% or even more, their bitcoin stacking decisions would start to get affected by their bitcoin stash size a lot sooner, so then parts of the decisions about what to do or not do, depend on how much quantity of their current living standard they are able to put into bitcoin (whether it is from their income or from other investments that they might have). It does not seem to be too common that guys are ready, willing and/or able to invest 15% or more of their income into bitcoin every year on a consistent and persistent basis. [edited out]
Yea, you're right for general rule based on past cycles. But I more interested for next 2 to 3 years, I want to know(maybe somehow it can be predicted, don't know) which resultant force will be there then! You think that there is an advantage in trading in bitcoin rather than investing into it? Of course, the future of bitcoin cannot be determined by history, even though historically, there have been so many folks in bitcoin who would have had been way better off to have had just stuck with a strategy that errored on the side of accumulating and holding and to have had completely skipped selling, especially if we are measuring in 2 cycles or greater timelines.

Ticket prices for the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey range from about $7,000 to nearly $60,000 on the secondary market, making it the most expensive sporting event in U.S. history.
The biggest storyline heading into the 2026 World Cup final is the generational clash between 39-year-old Lionel Messi and 19-year-old Lamine Yamal.
Spain is the betting favorite to defeat Argentina in the World Cup final.
3-Way Moneyline (90 Minutes + Stoppage Time) • Spain to win: +125 to +130 • Argentina to win: +255 to +270 • Draw/Tie: +195 to +200
To Lift the Trophy (Includes Extra Time & Penalties) • Spain: -150 to -160 • Argentina: +130 to +138
Game Totals & Props • Over/Under: The line is set at 2.5 goals, with the Under heavily favored at -155 to -164, reflecting expectations of a cagey defensive battle. • Anytime Goalscorer: Argentina's Lionel Messi holds the shortest odds to find the net at +130, followed closely by Spain's Mikel Oyarzabal (+165) and Lamine Yamal (+230).
