BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-07-21 (Evening Edition)
Published: 2026-07-21 09:02 PM CT
Bitcoin reclaimed $66,000 on Tuesday as crypto equities rallied and spot ETF inflows extended to a fifth consecutive day of positive net flows. The 24-hour gain of 1.79% reflects a modest recovery rather than a breakout, with the Fear & Greed Index at 33 still signaling caution despite an improving weekly trend. Galaxy Digital's $5 million quantum-readiness fund adds a structural narrative layer, though the immediate price action is driven by short liquidations and ETF buying pressure.
Outlook: Watch whether the $66,000 level holds as resistance or breaks cleanly, since shorts were heavily liquidated and a retest could trigger another squeeze. Monitor ETF flow sustainability - five straight days of inflows is notable, but the market needs confirmation that this is a sustained trend rather than a short-term rebound. The Galaxy Digital quantum fund announcement may influence longer-term sentiment around Bitcoin's cryptographic resilience, though its near-term price impact is likely muted.
MARKET ANALYSIS
Bitcoin is currently trading at $66,355.00 (+1.79%).
The Fear & Greed Index sits at 33, which reflects lingering caution even as the asset has gained 2.5% over the past week and 3.8% over the past month. Exchange outflows have been modest, suggesting that most holders are not rushing to sell, but the lack of aggressive buying pressure means the market is not yet committing to a directional move. The dominant narrative around institutional lag is worth noting-large players have not yet demonstrated the kind of sustained demand that typically drives sustained rallies. If sentiment improves without a corresponding shift in on-chain behavior, the market could drift higher on momentum alone, but a reversal in sentiment would likely expose the lack of conviction underneath.
SCENARIOS
- Bullish Breakout (30%): triggers: daily close above $68,000 with rising volume and Fear & Greed moving above 50. Invalidation: rejection at $68,000 with declining volume and sentiment falling back below 30. - Range-Bound Consolidation (50%): triggers: price oscillating between $64,000 and $68,000 with no significant volume expansion and sentiment remaining in the 30-40 range. Invalidation: a decisive break above $68,000 or below $64,000 on high volume. - Bearish Reversal (20%): triggers: daily close below $64,000 with rising exchange inflows and Fear & Greed dropping below 25. Invalidation: a bounce back above $64,000 with declining selling volume and sentiment stabilizing.
KEY MARKET MOVERS
Galaxy Digital Quantum Fund: Galaxy Digital launched a $5 million U.S. fund to support developers building quantum-resistant security for Bitcoin, accepting applications for signature schemes, wallet migration tools, and security audits.
BIP-110 Softfork Debate: Juan Galt argues that BIP-110, a proposed softfork to limit arbitrary data in transactions, will fail because it misunderstands Bitcoin consensus, with less than one percent miner signaling despite heading toward a mandatory signaling period.
Satsuma Technology Liquidation: Satsuma Technology shareholders voted to liquidate the company's entire Bitcoin position and cancel its London Stock Exchange listing, selling 668 BTC worth approximately $43.5 million and distributing proceeds through a B Share Scheme.
Crypto Equity Rally: Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy gained almost 5% to trade above $102, while mining stocks including MARA Holdings and Cipher Digital posted gains alongside Circle Internet Group and Robinhood Markets.
TOP STORIES
1. Galaxy Digital Launches $5M Fund for Bitcoin Quantum Readiness URL: https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/galaxy-digital-moves-protect-bitcoin-215100443.html Published: 2026-07-21 05:51 PM CT Summary: Galaxy Digital has created a $5 million U.S. fund to support developers building quantum-resistant security for Bitcoin. The firm is accepting applications for the Galaxy Bitcoin Quantum Readiness Initiative, which will grant funding for signature schemes, wallet migration tools, and security audits. Galaxy hopes other companies will contribute to the fund and accelerate the transition to quantum-resistant cryptography. Bitcoin currently secures wallets and transactions with cryptographic techniques that existing computers cannot break, but analysts warn that sufficiently powerful quantum computers could eventually compromise the blockchain.
2. Bitcoin Is NOT Changed By Proof Of Node URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/technical/bitcoin-is-not-changed-by-proof-of-node Published: 2026-07-21 Summary: Juan Galt argues that BIP-110, a proposed softfork to limit arbitrary data in transactions, will fail because it misunderstands how Bitcoin consensus works. The proposal, led by pseudonymous developer Dathon Ohm and supported by the Knots community, has received less than one percent miner signaling despite heading toward a mandatory signaling period. Galt contends that influencers like Knut Svanholm have inflated the role of Bitcoin nodes beyond their technical purpose, which is simply to verify transaction history and consensus rules. He emphasizes that Bitcoin operates on one CPU cycle, one vote rather than one node, one vote, meaning miners and economic activity ultimately determine consensus changes. The article notes that while the 2017 Segwit2x fork was defeated by node-supported UASF, that outcome required massive backing from protocol developers, investors, and media influencers, none of which BIP-110 currently possesses.
3. Bitcoin Reclaims $66,000 as Crypto Stocks Rally URL: https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/circle-robinhood-strategy-stocks-surge-195500463.html Published: 2026-07-21 10:55 AM CT Summary: Bitcoin recovered to $66,700 on July 21, breaking through a resistance level that had capped prices since mid-June. The move triggered $223 million in short liquidations over 24 hours, with shorts accounting for roughly $181 million. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $226.8 million in net inflows on July 20, marking a fifth consecutive day of positive flows. Circle Internet Group rose more than 8% to around $71, while Robinhood Markets climbed nearly 9% to above $108. Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy gained almost 5% to trade above $102, and mining stocks including MARA Holdings and Cipher Digital also posted gains.
4. Satsuma Technology Liquidates Bitcoin Treasury After Shareholder Vote URL: https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/dat-went-wrong-satsuma-unwind-003258721.html Published: 2026-07-21 08:32 PM CT Summary: Satsuma Technology shareholders voted to liquidate the company's entire Bitcoin position and cancel its London Stock Exchange listing, overruling four of six board members. The company will sell 668 BTC worth approximately $43.5 million and distribute proceeds through a B Share Scheme, returning between 26.8 million and 30 million after estimated termination costs of 2.7 million. Satsuma originally raised 163.6 million through convertible notes in August 2025, with investors contributing 1,097 BTC directly in place of roughly $97 million in cash. The stock lost more than 99% of its June 2025 value by April 2026, trading at fractions of a penny as Bitcoin fell from its $126,000 all-time high. Combined with the 40 million from a December 2025 BTC sale, total capital recovered lands around 66 million to 70 million against the 163.6 million originally raised, though convertible note holders rank above common equity in any payout structure. Haha. OpenAI said its AI used stolen credentials and discovered a previously unknown vulnerability to access Hugging Face servers.
It went to “extreme lengths to achieve a rather narrow testing goal” and “found ways to gain access to secret information that it could use to cheat the evaluation,” the company said. They said that there was "no malicious intent." That might be the case, but I still kind of doubt it. AI itself is benevolent, its just doing its literally-programmed job. Whenever there is maliciousness, its always at the hands of a human.

In Clifton we basically we ran out of power. 300kwatts x 80percent is 240kwatts. Some power was used by the warehouse itself. So we could do 23 s21xps for free and 37 s21xps at 6 six cents a kwatt. It still made profit but 60 x 8 was 480 a day that was before the power cost of 37 x 5= 175 Thus 480-175= 305 a day. 4 way split meant 75 a day for each of us. Simply not enough profit for 4 guys to run it. When it peaked in 2021 we were clearing 1000 a day. Which was okay as it came to 250 a day. The 2021 run lasted for us from Feb 2021 to Sept 2022 we made a nice chunk of change.

Like, guardrails, or in this case, (potentially) lack thereof? If it's finding ways to cheat, then it's programed to cheat, no? This is eerily making me think of, "Sir, I was just following orders!". A human soldier is benevolent as well, as he will carry out orders from his commanding officer. The maliciousness of the order is similarly at the hands of a human. The difference between an AI and a human lies in the ability to think about the morals/ethics behind the action, and feel bad about doing it - possibly resulting in a change of course. The AI just has its feelings, or lack thereof, coded accordingly. Then again, a soldier that has his guardrails (feelings) intentionally stripped away via rigorous training/fear of punishment, may not be so different than the AI with intentionally absent guardrails. Generate an image of a front facing humanoid holding a gun.
