The US Treasury Has Now:

1. Announced that Treasury buybacks would double from $2 billion to $4 billion

2. Announced that Treasury buybacks could "more than double"

3. Considered using its $950 billion General Account for these purchases

Meanwhile, the 10Y Note Yield is still ABOVE levels seen prior to their initial announcement on August 19th.

This is going to be a long battle.

There's only so much Buddy can handle... And while I share JJG's sentiment towards Bitcoin ETF's, I also think they are a necessary scam because it's the only way to get (most of) the boomers into Bitcoin by proxy. Hopefully they decide to actually try the real Bitcoin and get rid of the paper Bitcoin. So I think of ETF's as the lowest-height diving board and the boomer as the fat kid too scared to jump for the first time.

No offense to the boomers with actual brains who jumped into the real Bitcoin without much hesitation.

Not quite a boomer here, but pretty close.  And I agree with your sentiment for the most part.

But it's not just the boomers. This recent cold card disaster is proof of that.

Holding your own keys and being sovereign is not for everyone.  It requires a management of risk that is intolerable for many people.  Some may think I'm crazy for saying this, but if you're not comfortable with devising a safe system of holding it AND being willing to defend yourself with force, then maybe you need an ETF.  Not a popular take I know.

Security and complexity with bitcoin is nowhere near the level it needs to be for Bitcoin to be used easily by the masses.

I am most impressed with the products that use lightning, liquid, and the base chain with liquid being where Bitcoin is kept at rest. Payments are made with lightning and cold storage is handled with the base layer.  These tools are about as simple to use as something like Venmo.  And they have just all been rendered useless by a single point of failure in Boltz. Boltz was a non-custodial, smart contract-based, exchanger between base layer, liquid, and lightning.  But the complexity of that system made them a target for AI-assisted predators. And poof, that one tiny piece of software blew up that entire model.

It's an interesting set of problems that everyone that realizes why Bitcoin is important in the world is working on at the same time. The good guys and the bad guys, whoever they are.

I have actually introduced a new form of security for my own meager stash. It involves me introducing Trust in the form of a relationship with a lawyer and a third party custodian.  But I think self custody is important and some trade-offs are worth being made for it.

But it's just never gonna be for everybody.

I look forward to more secure cryptographic systems to be devised to help people protect their holdings with as little introduction of outside trust as possible, but these things are going to take time, I think.

If this pump is just a mix of short squeezes and bear market fatigue, it won't lead to anything. But if big institutional players are buying behind the scenes, hidden from the news for now, this is the end of a 1-year bear market. We should get ready for a rally that could last until mid-December 2026. I have that gut feeling that last week's crazy run was no accident. That gut feeling I had in October 2017 and 2020. So my SOMA prediction is 20 weeks of pumps that will lead to a short-lived ATH between 250K and 300K. And this is my pessimistic guess. Again, this is not a chart speculation, this is a hunch that some big news will hit the market soon.

I don't know... it's a little early to be clearing the underbrush in our sugar maple stands as the bibitte would eat him alive.  Maybe he went on an end of summer vacation.  Haven't seen him post for a while.  I kinda miss him.

It would be cool for us to see a 2017 style event.  And I think that's certainly on the menu.  And I suppose it's not so much that history repeats than rhymes. I actually think there could be some things very different about this one.

Also, to xhomers post. I miss Jay too. Sometimes taking a break from things like forums and the internet is good for one's mental health.
