Phil's counting numbers,
Sparkle Fairy has appeared,
Jay has disappeared.

Chopper is grounded.
Until the next ATH,
Chopsticks and ramen!

RIP, Dolly.
Smart, kind, caring, generous.
Jay's missing... Oh, wait!

Meatloaf for dinner.
I'll have the ramen, thank you.
If you know, you know.

Here we go again.
Confiscation of lost coins.
Snap out of it, Phil!

They exempt you now,
To fuck you up later on.
Divide and conquer!

Experts will predict,
Fools will believe what they say,
WOers will get rich!

Yeah, where is Jay?
I am having a bit of concern now...there was some verbiage re potentially some health issues (as per some other thread).
Hope it would all work out positively.

A potential scenario: something similar to 2019-2020

Bitcoin retraces back up to $93-94K or thereabouts (similar to the retrace in 2019), then a sharp down (due to other factors: bond market, political changes/situation, mini-bubble burst in AI, etc) back to 60ies, perhaps, and then a V-shape recovery into a new bull.

Hey Guys.

I wanted to just send a courtesy post to indicate that the wall-of-texter is back on the job, yet it seems that I am a wee bit behind on various threads and responding to various personal messages, and I am not sure exactly within which order I will tackle each of them, including various other areas of my "livenings and being alive" will allow me to prioritize.

Just a quickie estimate is that it may take around 4-ish more weeks or longer from today before I can resume any or even daily-ish pushups, and guys had even mentioned to me privately that they had become aware of possible changes in my current physical life status (to the extent that I might not be a bot) from my latest August 17th pushup report that I had published on August 19-ish...

It seems that the odds are pretty high that I will not be able to do pushups for a month or more due to physical issues, so below will be my last pushup report for a while.. and perhaps there could be permanent issues, still to be determined...

There seems to be nothing so permanent as various temporary statuses that we have that are ongoingly changing.

100k,JayJuanGee,925,174575,2026-08-17

so yeah,  I will likely be stuck at 925 days of pushups for a while before I will be able to add the 926th day, hopefully by early-ish October?  perhaps?

By the way, to repeat that even though the wall-of-texter is back, I still have not figured out how the quantity or quality of future wall texts might get impacted, and even getting back to typing I seem to be making quite a few more of rusty-type mistakes (so far I have not been using text-to-speech).. so I will see how much time will be able to dedicate to various categories of "living" in the coming weeks and months.

I checked the modlog and there is no sign of a password change so yeah, no need to doubt he is OG JJG. Smiley

I don't know what you are going through health-wise, but take care of your health, and you can resume the wall of text when you are back 100%. I wish you a speedy recovery if you had any surgery or something. Be positive and take all the medications as prescribed and follow all the advice given to you.

Come back soon. Kiss

Linux and others received exemption from age-verification laws. A small but important victory.

California lawmakers unanimously pass Linux exemption from age-verification law — software distributed under the GPL, MIT, BSD, and Apache licenses are exempt

Divide and conquer.

Exemption keeps the open-source devs quiet while the rest of the web gets funneled into digital ID verification.

Small win for code, but the bigger surveillance push is still moving right on schedule. Classic move.

First they came for the Plebs ...
And by the time they come for open source, nobody will be left with an anonymous connection to download the code anyway.

Give them an exemption today, tax the compiler tomorrow. Compliance is a trap.

Linux users are  predominantly the most intelligent people on the planet, they saw the backlash and decided not to kick that hornets nest until they have all the Plebs cornholed pigeonholed.

All this is doing is pushing it down the road a decade.
Intelligence doesn't matter much if the underlying infrastructure gets locked down. You can build most secure OS, but you still need ISP to connect.

A decade gives them enough time to build the digital ID cage. By then, downloading source code without biometric verification will be illegal anyway.

My point is the Linux base punches way above its weight class and by announcing they are exempt a large portion of that base will now say not my problem now and take the heat off, it is a divide and conquer strategy.

For those that don't understand this I will spell it out, it is a geopolitical strategy best described by this.

"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

I know by your reply's you understood this right away but for those that don't, I'm spelling it out.
But I believe that the interesting thing here is the possibility of using such exemption instead of a straight ban in case of a desire to minimize the resistance.

As soon as one particular group is excluded from the new regulation, this group stops having any reasons to resist this regulation. All other individuals become convinced that the regulation does not apply to them yet and that by the time they are affected by the new infrastructure, they will find themselves without any strong political resistance since the ones who could potentially oppose it will be separated already.

This is also why I consider the ISP/infrastructure aspect to be more significant than that of the operating system itself. It is possible to create an entirely open-source and privacy-friendly operating system, but it will become much less relevant once the network infrastructure starts requiring personal identification before accessing some services.

However, what concerns me more in the situation presented is the timeline issue. There is no guarantee that technology and regulations always develop as expected and there might be certain resistance to the process, but the main concept of dividing users and regulating them one after another is certainly worth considering.

What is even more interesting, maybe, it is not the question of how Linux can avoid getting regulated right now, but rather how important such exemption remains when the anonymous access to the internet keeps disappearing.
