the wall-of-texter is back on the job

As a relatively new member here, I kept seeing everyone asking "where is JJG?" all over the thread and was wondering who this legend was. Glad to finally see you back.

Don't stress about the pushups streak or catching up on hundreds of pages—focus on your recovery first. The wall of text can wait, health comes first.

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-08-30 (Evening Edition)

Published: 2026-08-30 09:03 PM CT

Bitcoin is grinding sideways this Sunday, flat over the past 24 hours and down 1.7% on the week, with the Fear & Greed Index at 62 (Greed) but deteriorating by 12 points over the past week. The dominant story is the end of a nine-day U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflow streak, with $201.9 million in net outflows on Aug. 28, cooling the rally that had pushed price toward $80,000. Thin weekend liquidity is likely amplifying the lack of direction.

Outlook: Watch whether Strategy resumes weekly Bitcoin purchases after Michael Saylor's 'We're Back' signal, which could add buying pressure and shift sentiment. Also monitor ETF flows next week to see if the outflow is a one-day blip or the start of a trend, especially with the Fed's hawkish tone still lingering.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $77,670.00, down 0.52% over 24 hours and down 1.7% over seven days. The derived Institutional Lag Composite reads -3 on a -50 to +50 scale. The tape reads as a market without a clear owner. Sellers have pushed price down to the $76,500 support, but buyers have so far held that line, and the 30-day gain of 23.6% suggests the broader trend still leans constructive. The Fear & Greed reading of 62 points to mild greed, which usually means participants are willing to buy dips but not chase aggressively. A daily close below $76,500 would likely open the path toward $75,000, while a reclaim of $79,000 would signal that the recent pullback was just a shakeout. The chop regime favors patience over conviction, and the next decisive move likely comes from whichever side can force a daily close beyond these boundaries.

SCENARIOS

- Consolidation Above $76,500 (51%): If Bitcoin holds $76,500 through Friday, with daily closes staying above that mark while the Fear & Greed index remains in the 55-70 range, the market likely grinds sideways between $76,500 and $79,000. This scenario builds on the current tape, where sellers have failed to break support despite the 7-day decline. Invalidation: a daily close below $76,500 within five trading days, which would shift control to the bears.
- Upside Reclaim of $79,000 (29%): A reclaim of $79,000 within five trading days, confirmed by a daily close above that level, would likely trigger momentum buying toward the $80,500 target. This scenario gains traction if the 30-day uptrend resumes and the Fear & Greed reading pushes past 65, indicating renewed risk appetite. Invalidation: a rejection at $79,000 that produces a lower high and a subsequent daily close back below $76,500 within the same five-day window.
- Downside Re-test of $75,000 (20%): Losing $76,500 on a daily close within five trading days would likely accelerate selling toward the $75,000 downside target. This scenario becomes more probable if the Fear & Greed reading drops below 50, signaling that the mild greed has faded and dip buyers are stepping aside. Invalidation: a daily close back above $76,500 within the same five-day window, which would negate the breakdown and likely return the market to the consolidation range.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- Fed Policy Overhang: Hawkish remarks from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole are a macro driver that cooled the rally and likely contributed to the ETF outflow, but the weekend recovery shows the market is still weighing the policy path.

TOP STORIES

1. Bitcoin ETFs Snap Nine-Day Inflow Streak as Ethereum Funds Extend Their Run
URL: https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/crypto/articles/bitcoin-etfs-snap-nine-day-213104398.html
Published: 2026-08-30 05:31 PM CT
Summary: U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $201.9 million in net outflows on Aug. 28, ending a nine-day inflow streak, according to SoSoValue. The reversal trimmed cumulative net inflows to about $55.1 billion, with the funds holding roughly $93.9 billion in total net assets. The streak had drawn $2.8 billion over eight days, with daily inflows peaking above $600 million on Aug. 20. Ethereum ETFs took in $102.1 million on Aug. 28, extending a 10-day inflow streak and lifting cumulative net inflows to about $12.9 billion. The outflows followed Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's hawkish remarks at Jackson Hole, which cooled a rally that had carried Bitcoin toward $80,000; Bitcoin later recovered to around $79,000 over the weekend.

2. Strategy Bitcoin Buying May Resume After Saylor 'We're Back' Signal
URL: https://cointelegraph.com/news/saylor-signals-strategy-is-back-to-bitcoin-buying
Published: 2026-08-30 12:59 PM CT
Summary: Michael Saylor posted 'We're Back' on X, a signal that Strategy may resume weekly Bitcoin purchases after a two-month pause. During the hiatus, the firm focused on stabilizing preferred stock offerings, building a $5.1 billion US dollar reserve, and creating a $1.59 billion cash pool from common stock offerings. Strategy holds more than 840,447 Bitcoin at an average cost of about $75,385, and the recent price recovery above $80,000 has pushed its position back into positive territory. The pause coincided with a market stretch that left the treasury deeply in the red on paper, but macro momentum has since lifted Bitcoin. Saylor's declaration likely signals the company is ready to deploy its dry powder back into Bitcoin, marking a return to profitability and an offensive stance.

Money coming back from the failed AI experiment.
Maybe? Could be a good time to short or make sure not to be holding bags.

Personally, I tend to be afraid to try to short anything, even if I knew how to short... Yet, I suppose shorting works for some people.

In udder words, in my opinion there is value to ongoingly playing long in an asset that you determine to be good one, such as bitcoin, and to just ongoinbly error on the side of buying more and more of it without even necessarily having to leverage or frontload it too much, even though surely we know that over the years in bitcoin, some guys have likely been able to enhance their overall financial wealth by playing their cards more in favor of bitcoin and more in favor of emphasizing ongoing frontloading and/or not overly leveraged buys of bitcoin.

I have to say when I sold that btc after the Cold wallet scandal I am glad that I had a lot more in the trezor that is in my bank vault.

So I have enough to not cry about that sale.

Back in the last sbf dump I sold all the corn I had not this time.

Gosh Phil...!!! Sorry for your loss and also for your ongoing rationalization of having had sold at or near the bottom.

A great run. I forgot what it was like to see the number go up. Now we wait for the correction to find out how much strength is really supporting this price move. Seems like the big guys have made their move though. I expect they will try everything they can to keep this rally going.
I agree. And by the way, I'm glad you found your way back to the thread.
My bearishness was clearly annoying the fine patrons of this thread so I decided I would steer clear until I was feeling a bit more bullish. While I am cautious at the moment and won’t be making any special buys chasing this rally, it is almost time for me to turn back into an up only bull again for the next 3 years.

Even though being a bear in this local cycle had some ways of potentially profiting, frequently, it does not pay to fuck around with trying to trade rather than ongoingly buying of dee cornz, except of course, if you had reached overaccumulation status, and to me it appears that your own representations do not support your having had reached overaccumulation status, even though your forum registration date would imply that you should have had been able to reach such overaccumulation status.

Glad to see Wordy Man is back in the saddle somewhat.

I am headed out for a funeral and I'm going on the road so. I may be late with my pump truck enlargements but I'll try to keep them coming. I have a feeling we may have a couple to go.

There are still some miles to go on this, but the US resumes hot military action with Iran. The oil prices bazooka up. Bitcoin has a snap down candle and then begins to stabilize with some upward pressure.

This recent rally seems to be wanting to stick.  Let's see how much it can hold up to the onslaught of reality.
