Nitpicking...
BobC appears to (still) be struggling with punctuation and special characters... This time he got confused by the period in "Mt.", thus turning "Mt. Gox" into simply "Mt." -- so cute! The missing part has been added and highlighted in red above.
More nitpicking: There is no period or space in abbreviating "Magic the Gathering Online eXchange". (This is Cointelegraph sloppiness, of course).

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-09-01 (Evening Edition)
Published: 2026-09-01 09:08 PM CT
Bitcoin slid 1.88% over 24 hours on Tuesday as escalating U.S.-Iran tensions pushed investors into risk-off mode. The Fear & Greed Index at 63 still sits in Greed, but the seven-day move of -2.6% shows the trend is deteriorating. This looks like a geopolitical risk-off pullback, not capitulation.
Outlook: Investors will watch ETF flows and macro data releases for signs of risk appetite returning. The next policy headlines will show whether the constructive backdrop strengthens or fades.
MARKET ANALYSIS
Bitcoin is at $76,895.00, down 1.88% over 24 hours and down 2.6% over seven days. The derived Institutional Lag Composite reads -6 on a -50 to +50 scale. Buyers still hold the $75,000 support, while sellers have not yet proven they can clear $78,500. The Fear & Greed reading of 63 sits above neutral, so the tape does not show panic, even though the broader regime is risk-off. Hashrate data is unavailable, so the analysis leans on price structure and sentiment rather than miner activity. A daily close below $75,000 would shift control to sellers and put $73,500 in view. A daily close above $78,500 would shift control to buyers and make $80,000 the next test.
SCENARIOS
- Holding $75,000 (45%): triggers: Price holds above $75,000 on every daily close within five trading days, and Fear & Greed stays between 50 and 70. Invalidation: A daily close below $75,000 occurs within five trading days, or Fear & Greed moves outside the 50 to 70 range within five trading days. - Reclaim of $78,500 Toward $80,000 (27%): triggers: A daily close above $78,500 occurs within five trading days, and Fear & Greed rises above 63. Invalidation: Price does not close above $78,500 within five trading days, or Fear & Greed does not rise above 63 within five trading days. - Loss of $75,000 Toward $73,500 (28%): triggers: Sellers push price to a daily close below $75,000 within five trading days, and Fear & Greed drops below 50. Invalidation: Price does not close below $75,000 within five trading days, or Fear & Greed does not drop below 50 within five trading days.
KEY MARKET MOVERS
- Oil and rate expectations: Rising oil prices from Middle East escalation can lift inflation expectations and shift traders toward rate-hike fears, which pressures non-yielding assets. - Macro tug-of-war: Geopolitical risk-off pressure and Treasury liquidity support are pulling in opposite directions, so the next move may depend on which force dominates.
TOP STORIES
1. Bitcoin Slides as US-Iran Tensions Escalate URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/markets/bitcoin-slides-as-iran-us-war-escalates Published: 2026-09-01 04:27 PM CT Summary: Bitcoin fell more than 2% on Tuesday to $77,363 after escalating U.S.-Iran attacks pushed investors into risk-off mode. The price had reached nearly $81,282 on Friday before the slide. The U.S. strikes followed Iranian attempts to mine the Strait of Hormuz and an attack on an American base in Jordan, according to President Trump. Rising oil prices can raise inflation expectations, and traders now expect a rate hike rather than a cut this year, while bitcoin has typically performed well in low-rate environments. Bitcoin had earlier benefited in August after the U.S. Treasury said it would at least double the size of its liquidity-support buyback operations, and the announcement hurt the dollar and supported non-yielding assets.
2. Bitcoin Posts Third-Best August Ever URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/bitcoin-has-its-third-best-august-ever Published: 2026-09-01 02:21 PM CT Summary: Bitcoin returned 25% in August, its third-best August ever, according to Bitwise European Head of Research Andr Dragosch. The coin traded below $65,000 through much of June and July before rising after the U.S. Treasury Department said it would more than double government debt repurchases. Lower long-term yields reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like bitcoin and gold, and they generally support risk-on sentiment. President Donald Trump urged lawmakers to pass the crypto Clarity Act, and he called the draft very powerful after meeting crypto industry executives. Bitcoin ETFs attracted more than $2.8 billion in August, the most since October, while the asset reached $81,281 last week and recently stood at $76,883. I did check this when posting the above, and went with Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mt._GoxThis aligns with the Cointelegraph article. Still, it's BobC's fault that he missed it. I remember reading his story about abandoning everything and traveling the world with his family. Very courageous move what he did, I applaud him. That's how you make it in life, got to use your brain and take risks. Watched the video, I like his style and agree with him, he's basically describing 4-year cycle theory. The patterns he's describing were exactly the basis for my buying strategy over the past 11 years. The only thing I didn't do is the selling part. Still, it worked wonders. Thanks for posting that link.
