40 feet of aluminum sounds like it is worth some money.  What are they doing with the wheelchair ramp?  If the plan was to throw it away, I would have had a different solution...

A few years ago I wanted to have the metal gate around my pool removed.  I got quotes from a few different places for thousands of dollars to remove it.  Then I put a craigslist ad saying I had free metal if anyone wanted it to sell for scrap.  The next day someone showed up and removed it all for free... 

I use this tactic quite frequently actually...  Whenever I want to clean out my garage I just walk around taking pictures of things and listing them for sale for $5 each.  Nothing like watching strangers clean out your garage for you while giving you money.
