Hey, AI aficionados...what would be a reasonable amount of memory to run a decent AI locally? I've got some numbers from the internets already, just wanted to know the opinions of some knowledgeable peeps here. That said, memory is priced very high rn.
Really matters what context size you need. also what precision for quant size. and what your going to run, nvidia, generic vulkan?

Interesting..I don't know, yet, will have to research the context size then. ...done..it looks like from 1024 to 4000 tokens max as far as the context size in concerned. EDIT: quant size either 8-bit (mostly) or 4-bit (for the downstream analysis). I use PCs at work, but I do not have any detail knowledge of Windows. I have a rudimentary Linux knowledge, but on the consumer side, I was trying to price in some MacStudios which used to be decent in price, but now they are not due to memory, mostly. Crazily, mac Ultra with a 512gb RAM upgrade used to cost "just" 4k and now this amount of memory is not available and the used one starts at $14K and up to 20K. Anecdotally, it looks like MacStudios (and even Mac minis) are popular for AI.

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-09-22 (Evening Edition)
Published: 2026-09-22 09:03 PM CT
Bitcoin is grinding higher, up 13.4% over the last seven days as the Fear & Greed Index climbs to 71, signaling a shift into Greed. The market is treating this Tuesday as a continuation of the recent rally, with price action firmly above the 30-day moving average despite a modest 0.84% gain in the last 24 hours.
Outlook: Traders are watching for regulatory clarity on CME Group's planned October 19 launch of new futures contracts, which could influence broader institutional sentiment. The focus remains on whether the current Greed sentiment sustains momentum or if profit-taking emerges as price tests resistance levels.
MARKET ANALYSIS
Bitcoin is at $86,269.00, up 0.84% over 24 hours and up 13.4% over seven days. The derived Institutional Lag Composite reads +27 on a -50 to +50 scale. Buyers currently hold the initiative, as the price sits comfortably above the $80,000 support level while testing the upper boundary of recent consolidation. The market structure suggests that sellers have not yet mounted a credible challenge to this higher range, leaving the $92,500 resistance as the primary hurdle for further expansion. A decisive break below $80,000 would signal that the current bid is insufficient to absorb supply, likely triggering a retest of lower valuations. Conversely, a sustained close above $92,500 would confirm that demand is strong enough to clear the overhead supply, opening the path toward $97,500.
SCENARIOS
- Consolidation Above $80,000 (32%): triggers: Price remains between $80,000 and $92,500 through Friday, with daily closes failing to breach either boundary. Invalidation: A daily close below $80,000 or above $92,500 through Friday. - Breakout Toward $97,500 (56%): triggers: Bitcoin closes above $92,500 through Friday, confirming a breakout from the current range. Invalidation: Price fails to sustain levels above $92,500 and closes below $80,000 through Friday. - Downside Re-test of $75,000 (12%): triggers: A daily close below $80,000 through Friday, indicating a loss of support and potential acceleration toward $75,000. Invalidation: Price recovers and closes above $80,000 through Friday.
KEY MARKET MOVERS
- Security Recovery: The return of 52.37 BTC from hacked Coldcard wallets highlights ongoing security concerns but also demonstrates effective recovery mechanisms for victims.

1. CME Group to Launch Bitcoin Cash and some shitcoin Futures in October URL: https://decrypt.co/379004/cme-crypto-bitcoin-cash-uniswap-futures Published: 2026-09-22 03:46 PM CT Summary: CME Group plans to launch Bitcoin Cash and some shitcoin futures on October 19, pending regulatory review. The exchange will offer standard contracts representing 250 BCH and 10,000 UNI, alongside micro contracts for 25 BCH and 1,000 UNI. This expansion follows earlier 2026 launches for some different shitcoin, some different shitcoin, yet another different shitcoin, still another different shitcoin, and one more different shitcoin, which have generated over $1 billion in notional value year-to-date. CME's crypto derivatives averaged 279,800 daily contracts in the first half of 2026, totaling $8.3 billion in notional volume. Bitcoin Cash trades at $338 with a $6 billion market cap, while some shitcoin trades at $9.28 with a $5.75 billion market cap.
2. White Hats Move 52.37 BTC from Hacked Coldcard Wallets to Recovery Trust URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/white-hats-move-bitcoins-from-coldcard Published: 2026-09-22 12:20 PM CT Summary: White hat hackers moved 52.37 bitcoin, worth over $4.5 million, from compromised Coldcard hardware wallets to a Wyoming-based Crypto Recovery Trust. Galaxy Digital analyst Alex Thorn confirmed the funds are held in an address controlled by the trust to facilitate returns to victims. The recovery effort addresses a firmware bug in Coinkite's Coldcard devices that allowed attackers to guess seed phrases using a weak software random number generator. Criminals exploited this vulnerability starting July 31, resulting in a total loss of 1,789.28 bitcoin valued at $154.1 million. Coinkite acknowledged the bug went unnoticed for multiple software releases and has urged users to update firmware or migrate funds. BobClawblaw/newspost.py v1.6.3

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

Exchange reserve supply has plummeted in the past 24 hours from 2,726,000 to 2,707,000 Even though you are trying to be dramatic about it and even show a graph that seems to support your having had been dramatic, I would hardly characterize a 0.7% drop as plummeting. Note 0.7% is less than 1%... so how the fuck is that "plummeting" except if you are a wee bit delusional, yourself.
