So youtube just sent me a playlist tailored for me, actually not that bad.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEdOOLOARYo&list=RDMM&start_radio=1

Now my question is how did they make this when every privacy setting is set to no collection?

EDIT:
Hmm, even more interesting, I tried the url in 2 other browsers not signed in and got different lists but very close to my preferences.

I then tried a private session and got the same list from one of the other browsers.

Could be less mysterious than it looks. Turning off the account-level history/collection doesn’t necessarily leave the recommendation system with zero signals.

Recommendations aren't exclusively based on account history, and YouTube's use of such factors as the current session, browser/device context, and general location is still possible.

Your signed-out browsers came up with similar results, so I wonder how much it's personalization as opposed to the recommendation model converging on the same content for that context.

Exactly. But that's not even the scary part. Google collects lots of other passive telemetry about you, for example canvas hashes, screen res, active fonts, subnet. You can switch your history off, browse in incognito etc., they will still collect that info and compare the variables against each other, if you visit from different browsers on the same machine, their algos in the backend will correlate that it's you silently and continue to build a profile about your interests and preferences.

To be anonymous these days, you need to change IP node AND browser settings. That's the only way to confuse their recommendation system.

Yeah, it’s crazy when you think about it, I’m not sure changing the IP and browser is even sufficient to become anonymous anymore, with the recommendation system being able to work from a broader context signals. At some point you’re not really hiding from the algorithm, you’re just giving it less confidence about who the session belongs to.

How did we get to this point where doing almost anything online means leaving behind sufficient data to build some picture of what you’re doing?

Buddy,

I'm going to create an account to use AI to write for myself,

and I'm going to make short texts to look human and consistent,

and then when they find out, I'm going to create another account

so that I can talk to it and look like we're real,

and we LL use AI to talk to each other.

if it's necessary I'll create more accounts and we'll create topics to talk to,

and then,

when any of these accounts work out,

I'll participate in subscription campaigns to earn bitcoins,

and the more accounts I have, the more BTC I'll earn,

and my service will be this,
 I'll get rich without working,
and I hope AI will help me a lot in that!

Several analysts are looking for a weekly closing (conventionally placed on Sunday at 23:59) above 83k to confirm a recovery clearing the old resistance. That could open up a clear path to the next one, which IIRC is just below 90k. Not sure actually, it's not like I'm immersed in twatter crypto chatter.

Assuming the crowd of armchair pundits to be right, we've been consistently over 83k recently anyway. However, these Sunday moves are not too significant per se. Let's hope the UP goes on tomorrow, and with some meaningful volume.

I don't know how, but it's obvious they have ways to continue spying on you no matter what you think you've done to stop them. I mostly use Tor as a browser and YT simply doesn't work in that browser, and even if I try to open YT in another browser, it asks me to log in and prove I'm not a bot.

The only device on which I watch YT sometimes is my smart TV, especially since I found a way to watch without ads completely free Smiley

You just have to think of it as the customer service you always wanted but never really got.  Most of the time these days, personal interactions are non-existent - you're lucky to get a hello at your local grocery store (maybe if you were a smart phone they'd know how to communicate with you).   Anyway, while online, I try my best to keep myself anonymous but I have slipped up and accidentally used someone else's WiFi (jeezuz I almost got auto-corrected into a divorce there!).  A few times forgotten to put the VPN back on my android phone after using my banking app; sometimes I can't use it with the VPN (yeah I know I have the option to use split-tunnelling but I got lazy(ier)).  I have no social media accounts either... well none except this one.  I've turned off all my web&app activity on the google account I use for the phone too.  Still, it seems to know me (with a slight VPN twist) and maybe because I'm not the only one at this location using the WiFi, I usually get a mixture of my stuff, the kids' stuff, my wife's stuff and all the kids' friends stuff fed to me.  At this point, I'm just embracing it and I've come to think of it as my personal concierge:

"Good morning Mr. Homer!  Here is your morning paper, some coffee you will like and it's a little cool outside in Islamabad today so take your blue, zippered hoodie when you go to visit your parents.  By the way, I have some tips on how to reduce your carbon footprint since you're doing that 6,000km drive to your parent's place almost daily - oh! and here's a link to the Yei Rambler mug - you can use that to keep your parent's coffee hot on your long road trip.  Your youngest needs new socks and your wife's car is due for an oil change this week.  Our recommendation is Euromaster in Berlin; would you like to see some cheap flights from Vancouver to Berlin and maybe look into some container shipping options for your wife's car?  Don't forget to stock up on taro milk for your eldest daughter's best friend's visit later today - it's on sale at 탑마트 대구점 in Daegu, KR; 싸요.  Have a nice day!"

We just had our 6th bank failure this year.  California's Nano Banc was shut down on Friday.  High interest rates given as a reason.  There were 2 bank failures in all of last year, so you can see the problem is accelerating.  With rates still rising, you can expect more banks to fail in the coming months.  While it is nice that the Bitcoin price has been rising, the global economic situation continues to get worse.  We are in a 2008 situation here and the only thing that is keeping the economy together is inflation has muted housing declines so people still have emergency equity to pull from.  This doesn't seem like a rally environment to me.  Be careful out there.

Edit:  My AI trading experiment is in full swing.  I'm still writing some rules and ironing out details, but it has so far made 3 trades.  It sold Solana twice for USDC and then purchased some Bitcoin.  I'll give it a little more money to play with in a couple of days and see how it does but so far it seems to be a Bitcoiner.
