Boom!
Bitcoin to 1M this afternoon:

Seriously, even gold has his quantum risk.

Should we go long Hg (Mercury), then?
 Grin

I wonder why Nasdaq (and bitcoin in correlation) derped today?
Is it because of the Chinese claim on $5-6 bil in confiscated btc (in UK)?

OT: NASDAQ-maybe because both Meta and Space x are projected to need to borrow lots of $$, perhaps.
It seems that as we approach elections, markets become unhinged a bit-11 more days to go.

I am maintaining a hefty chunk of change in the money market accounts.
At first thought to buy in after good earnings, but the charts are giving me a pause.

I wouldn’t be too worried about the gold thing. They’ve been able to make gold for decades now. The problem is that it is still much cheaper to dig it out of the ground. I wasn’t able to see the production cost anywhere in the info they released, but unless it is near the spot price nobody would pay extra to make their gold instead of buying it.

Quote from: Terminator 2
Watching John Bob with the machine, it was suddenly so clear. The terminator bot would never stop. It would never leave him, and it would never hurt him, never shout at him, or get drunk and hit him, or say it was too busy to spend time with him. It would always be there. And it would die to protect him. Of all the would-be fathers who came and went over the years, this thing, this machine, was the only one who measured up. In an insane world, it was the sanest choice

Login hacks is how it begins.

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-10-22 (Evening Edition)

Published: 2026-10-22 09:03 PM CT

Bitcoin is grinding lower into Thursday, down 2.53% over 24 hours and 3.7% over 30 days, with Fear & Greed at Neutral 50 after a 5-point slide this week. The dominant story is China's move to confiscate 61,896 BTC seized from Zhimin Qian in the UK, a $5.1 billion pile that Tianjin prosecutors want back and that a High Court ruling on October 12 said should be governed by Chinese law. Price is below the 30-day average of $83,339, so the market is not recovering, it is drifting.

Outlook: Watch the Qian confiscation appeal, because Fieldfisher is challenging the High Court ruling and the outcome determines whether 61,896 BTC stays in an interest-bearing UK account or moves toward Chinese victims. Watch ETF flow direction too, since DWF Labs found flows flip from $74 million daily inflows to $72 million daily outflows once Bitcoin falls 7% below its 20-day high, and that threshold is close.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $81,344.00, down 2.53% over 24 hours and down 0.4% over seven days. The derived Momentum-Sentiment Composite reads +5 on a -50 to +50 scale, which runs against the week's move: the composite blends price change, sentiment and spot premium, so it can tilt one way while realised price runs the other, and it does not override what the price did. Sellers hold the near-term initiative, but they are pressing into demand rather than breaking it: the tape has spent the session leaning on the $79,500 support shelf, and that shelf is the line that matters. A close above $83,000 would hand control back to buyers and open the $84,500 upside target; a decisive loss of $79,500 would put the $78,000 downside target in play. The tension between a +5 momentum-sentiment composite and a slightly negative week is best read as a market that has stopped falling faster than it has started rising, which is stabilization, not a turn. Neutral sentiment at 50 leaves room in either direction, and that is exactly why the levels, not the mood, should govern the read.

SCENARIOS

- Holding The $79,500 Shelf (47%): triggers: the session closes at or above $79,500 on each of the next five trading days, with Fear & Greed holding at or above 40 through Friday. Invalidation: a daily close below $79,500 within five trading days.
- Reclaim Of $83,000 Toward $84,500 (17%): buyers need to absorb the current supply and push a daily close through $83,000 within five trading days; that would confirm the composite's positive tilt is finally showing up in price. Invalidation: price fails to print any daily close above $83,000 within five trading days.
- Loss Of $79,500 Toward $78,000 (36%): the shelf gives way on a daily close below $79,500 within five trading days, and the $78,000 downside target comes into view as sellers extend control. Invalidation: a daily close back above $79,500 within five trading days.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- China custody overhang: The Qian case puts 61,896 BTC in legal limbo between UK and Chinese courts, a structural overhang that is not yet resolved and could swing either way on appeal.
- ETF flow asymmetry: DWF Labs found ETF flows track past price moves far more than future ones, so the recent outflow pattern reflects selling already done rather than a forward signal.

TOP STORIES

1. China Moves to Confiscate 61,896 BTC From Zhimin Qian in UK
URL: https://decrypt.co/381580/chinese-prosecutors-seek-to-confiscate-5-1b-in-bitcoin-seized-by-uk-in-qian-case
Published: 2026-10-22 05:09 AM CT
Summary: Prosecutors in Tianjin applied on September 28 to confiscate 61,896 BTC seized from Zhimin Qian in the UK, and the Tianjin No. 2 Intermediate People's Court accepted the case and published a notice on October 13. The Bitcoin is worth about $5.1 billion at a price near $82,000. Prosecutors also seek roughly 72,746 units each of some shitcoin, some different shitcoin and yet another different shitcoin, about 3.6 million still another different shitcoin, some 70 million one more different shitcoin, plus dollar, euro and pound cash, jewelry, bank balances and investment portfolios, and UK authorities have already converted the tokens and placed them in an interest-bearing account. Qian controlled Tianjin Lantian Gerui Electronic Technology and sold unlicensed wealth management products across China from April 2014 to August 2017, raising more than 40.38 billion yuan and leaving more than 102,000 investors with losses of about 19.98 billion yuan, and Qian fled China in July 2017 with computers holding Bitcoin wallets. Qian was jailed for 11 years and eight months in the UK in November 2025 after pleading guilty to acquiring and possessing criminal property, and on October 12 the High Court ruled that Chinese law should govern victims' claims to the coins, a decision Fieldfisher is seeking to appeal; David Phillips of SMB wrote that the ruling does not decide ownership because no evidence has yet been heard on the content of Chinese law.

2. Pepenardo Hand-Draws Six Bitcoin Magazine Covers as One-of-One Art
URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/culture/the-sleeper-has-awakened-pepenardos-sleeping-knights-return
Published: 2026-10-22 06:06 PM CT
Summary: Pepenardo drew directly on six copies of Bitcoin Magazine's 2036 issue with a Sharpie, adding Sleeping Knights, the masked rider of FAKEGENESIS, Dorian Nakamoto, and some shitcoin's mascot. Each hand-altered cover carries the artist's signature plus a gold-ink signature on an interior spread reproducing his painting THE DREAMER, and each is paired with two one-of-one trading cards. The two oil paintings THE DREAMER (RED KNIGHT) and THE DREAMLESS (GREEN KNIGHT) sold for 0.32698802 BTC each, roughly $26,500 apiece, drawing a combined 197 bids at the BMAG auction during Bitcoin 2026 in Las Vegas. Pepenardo's FAKEGENESIS, a reinterpretation of Jacques-Louis David's Napoleon Crossing the Alps, sold for 1.625 BTC at Bitcoin in Miami in 2023 after starting as a Fake Rares card in 2022. Mark Mason, Head of Media at Bitcoin Magazine, said the publication never reprints past editions, and that finite supply has made early issues, graded copies, and signed covers sought after; seven copies of the May 2012 inaugural issue were signed by more than 20 early bitcoin figures at a London event in September 2012, and one drew a winning bid of 7 BTC from a buyer who never completed the purchase. All six one-of-one magazine editions and the trading card sets sold out shortly after launch, and the Genesis Box set of 21 collector's sets holding the first 22 issues from 2012 to 2014 remains available.

3. Bitcoin ETFs Sold in 7 of 8 Crashes, DWF Labs Finds
URL: https://cryptoslate.com/bitcoin-etfs-sold-through-7-of-8-crashes-even-as-wall-street-makes-btc-selloffs-less-violent
Published: 2026-10-22 05:30 PM CT
Summary: US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows during seven of eight major Bitcoin selloffs since launching in January 2024, according to a DWF Labs study covering 694 trading days through Oct. 16. Investors pulled a record $8.2 billion during Bitcoin's 28.8% decline between May and June 2026, after withdrawing $6.9 billion in the October 2025 to February 2026 downturn. ETF flows correlated 0.54 with Bitcoin's performance over the preceding five trading days but only 0.03 with the following five days, and BlackRock's IBIT flows correlated just 0.04 with subsequent returns. Bitcoin selloffs have slowed since the ETFs launched, with the median decline unfolding at 0.69% daily versus 1% in 2022-2023, annualized volatility falling to 47% from 55%, and roughly 7% daily crash days dropping from six to two per year. DWF Labs estimated about one-fifth of ETF flows may have been hedged through CME futures basis trades, and average daily ETF flows flipped from $74 million in inflows to $72 million in outflows once Bitcoin fell 7% below its 20-day high.

https://cryptobriefing.com/calle-launches-bitnotes-cashu-ecash-wallet/

Calle launches BitNotes, a multi-mint Cashu wallet that prints ecash on paper

BitNotes is a wallet for Cashu, an ecash system built around Bitcoin. Ecash tokens are issued by entities called mints. Users hold those tokens and pass them around much like digital bearer instruments.

BitNotes can generate paper notes that represent ecash tokens. Verification happens offline using the mint’s public keys. The recipient can check a note against the issuing mint’s cryptographic signature without a network connection.

Offline verification? How do they deal with double spending?
