I am still looking for good hiking shoes. If someone can recommend good hiking shoes?

I'd recommend finding a place where you can try some on. I went in intending to buy some fancy ones but was most comfortable in a cheaper (but still decent) pair.

CZ says Binance has 90% of the funds covered from the hack and says they will buy the remaining 10% OTC. That should put an end to the bleeding and allow a bounce to happen.

Until the next hack…

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-10-31 (Evening Edition)

Published: 2026-10-31 09:03 PM CT

Bitcoin is grinding sideways on a Saturday, up 0.39% over 24 hours but still 3.0% lower over seven days and 8.1% lower over 30 days, with Fear & Greed at 34 for a third straight day. The dominant story is Coinbase's revenue miss at $1.20 billion against $1.233 billion expected, with monthly transacting users falling to 7.4 million from 9.3 million a year earlier, and the stock down about 15% as Binance disclosed a $6.3 billion breach. Price sits 5.3% below the 30-day average of $81,912, and weekend liquidity is thin.

Outlook: The October 2026 jobs report on November 6 is the next scheduled demand test, and it arrives with funding rates having fallen toward zero during the shock, which suggests the recovery needs fresh spot demand rather than new leverage. Watch whether US spot Bitcoin ETFs resume inflows after the $643 million net outflow in the October 30 session, and whether the roughly $3 billion in frozen Binance assets gets released without further forced selling.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $77,597.00, up 0.39% over 24 hours and down 3.0% over seven days. The derived Momentum-Sentiment Composite reads -4 on a -50 to +50 scale. Sellers still hold the initiative, and the bounce off the $76,000 support is a pause rather than a reversal. Sentiment sits at 34, which is Fear but not panic, so the market is leaning defensive without a forced-capitulation signature. A daily close that holds $76,000 keeps the range intact and leaves $79,000 as the ceiling to watch; a decisive reclaim of that resistance would shift control toward buyers and open the $80,500 upside target. Losing $76,000 on a closing basis hands the initiative back to sellers and puts the $75,000 downside target in play. What flips the read is follow-through, not a single wick: sustained trading above resistance on stronger sentiment would do it, and so would a firm break of support.

SCENARIOS

- Consolidation Above $76,000 (47%): triggers: the market keeps printing daily closes at or above $76,000 through Friday while Fear & Greed stays in the 25 to 45 band, which would confirm the bounce is holding rather than fading. Invalidation: a daily close below $76,000 within five trading days.
- Reclaim of $79,000 Toward $80,500 (20%): a push needs buyers to absorb the supply sitting at resistance, so watch for a daily close above $79,000 and a Fear & Greed reading climbing out of the 30s; if both land within five trading days, the $80,500 upside target comes into view. Invalidation: price fails to close above $79,000 within five trading days, or slips back under $76,000 first.
- Downside Re-test of $75,000 (33%): the risk-off backdrop and a sentiment reading stuck in Fear keep pressure on the floor, and a daily close below $76,000 within five trading days would confirm sellers have taken back control and point the market at the $75,000 downside target. Invalidation: a daily close back above $76,000 within five trading days.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- Private credit cash squeeze: US private credit vehicles owed banks $349 billion at the end of 2025, and roughly 10% of business development company loans were using payment-in-kind interest by early 2026, so funds facing outgoing bank interest with little incoming cash may sell assets unrelated to the original loss, a channel that could reach Bitcoin.
- Coinbase insider sales: CEO Brian Armstrong adopted a Rule 10b5-1 plan in August to sell up to 8.17 million Class A shares from November 16 through October 2027, and co-founder Fred Ehrsam and President Emilie Choi have similar plans, bringing scheduled sales to about 13.6 million shares.

TOP STORIES

1. Coinbase Misses Revenue Estimates as Users Fall, Armstrong Sets Up New Share Sales
URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/coinbase-falls-armstrong-sets-up-new-share
Published: 2026-10-30 01:54 PM CT
Summary: Coinbase reported third-quarter revenue of $1.20 billion, below the $1.233 billion analysts expected, while subscription and services revenue reached $570 million. Monthly Transacting Users fell to 7.4 million from 9.3 million a year earlier, and Coinbase blamed overall market conditions on its earnings call. The company's share of crypto trading volume rose to 10.7%, the fourth straight quarter of gains, and adjusted EBITDA was $332.9 million, extending a run of 15 straight profitable quarters on that measure. CEO Brian Armstrong adopted a Rule 10b5-1 plan in August to sell up to 8.17 million Class A shares from November 16 through October 2027, and co-founder Fred Ehrsam and President Emilie Choi have similar plans, bringing the total to about 13.6 million shares. Coinbase stock fell about 15% as Binance disclosed a security breach estimated at $6.3 billion, the largest crypto theft on record, with about $3 billion in assets frozen so far; Bitcoin fell roughly 4.5% to below $77,000, Strategy (MSTR) shares fell nearly 10%, and Strive (ASST) shares fell over 12% at times.

2. Bitcoin Recovery Hinges on Demand Without Fresh Leverage
URL: https://cryptoslate.com/bitcoins-recovery-faces-rising-derivatives-exposure-and-643-million-in-etf-outflows
Published: 2026-10-31 08:10 PM CT
Summary: Bitcoin traded near $77,000 on October 31 after a selloff tied to a Binance breach. Block Scholes reported $1.53 billion in crypto-wide liquidations over 24 hours, with 84% in long positions, and said open interest on Binance's BTC-USDT perpetual rose 4.5% between 23:00 UTC October 29 and 04:00 UTC October 30. Coinalyze showed $28 billion in aggregate Bitcoin open interest on October 31, up 3% over 24 hours, though dollar notional mixes contract counts with price changes and is not posted collateral. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $643 million in net outflows in the October 30 session, according to Farside Investors. Bitcoin funding stayed positive but fell toward zero on Binance during the shock, and the October 2026 jobs report is scheduled for November 6, giving a demand test ahead.

3. Banks Hold $349B Exposure to Private Credit Funds Facing Cash Squeeze
URL: https://cryptoslate.com/banks-are-owed-349b-by-private-credit-funds-that-may-not-be-collecting-cash-from-borrowers
Published: 2026-10-31 01:10 PM CT
Summary: US-domiciled private credit vehicles owed banks $349 billion at the end of 2025, according to Federal Reserve data. Business development companies accounted for $181 billion of that borrowing, private debt funds owed $150 billion, and interval and tender-offer funds owed $18 billion. Boston Fed researchers found roughly 10% of BDC loans were actively using payment-in-kind interest by early 2026, up from about 6% in 2022, which lets borrowers add interest to debt instead of paying cash. Banks are not obliged to defer their own interest when a fund's borrowers do, so a fund may face outgoing payments while receiving little cash. Bitcoin traded near $77,557, down 3.89% over seven days and 8.42% over 30 days, and the article notes that investors needing cash can sell assets unrelated to the original loss, a channel by which private credit stress could reach Bitcoin's market.

4. Bitcoin's White Paper Turns 18, and Small Businesses Are Still Paying for the Bailouts It Answered
URL: https://www.coindesk.com/opinion/2026/10/31/bitcoin-s-white-paper-turns-18-and-small-businesses-are-still-paying-for-the-bailouts-it-answered
Published: 2026-10-31
Summary: Michael Tanguma, CEO of Onramp, marks the 18th anniversary of Satoshi Nakamoto publishing the Bitcoin white paper on Oct. 31, 2008, four weeks after Congress passed a $700 billion bank bailout. Tanguma argues that successive rescues, including the March 2020 Fed bond buying and the March 2023 systemic-risk exception protecting all Silicon Valley Bank depositors, have shielded large institutions while small businesses absorb higher prices. A pound of ground beef rose from $3.87 in February 2020 to $6.79 in September 2026, a 76% increase against 30% for consumer prices overall, and a net 31% of small business owners reported raising selling prices in September. New York State lost a net 1,928 food service businesses between early 2025 and early 2026, and about 1.23 million private establishments closed nationally in 2024. Tanguma concedes bitcoin fell 77% between November 2021 and November 2022, but he notes cash lost about 23% of its buying power across consumer prices since February 2020 and 43% against ground beef, and he argues owners can hold part of their surplus in bitcoin's fixed 21 million supply.

Until the next hack…

Well, the costs and expenses with the operation of recovery and repurchase of lost customer assets, probably came out of the company's profit, and will probably be discounted in the tax accounting... scams and scams happening, but this one, the 'feds' are worried, after all, the biggest theft of all time in the world! and as Paashaas said, a big event like this, and the price only dropped a little, indicating a good support, apparently.... wait for Monday's closing to see if this lock in the 77k will consolidate and there will be no more manipulations to buy back cheaper and in a way reduce their losses...

..as no one has said anything yet...
I'm leaving the guys' link here... in a way they're worried...

North Korea Responsible for $6 Billion+ Binance Attack

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is releasing information advising the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) was responsible for the theft of more than $6 billion USD in virtual assets from cryptocurrency exchange Binance, on or about October 29, 2026. The FBI refers to this specific North Korean malicious cyber activity as "TraderTraitor."

The FBI, together with partners at the USSS and IRS-CI, has observed TraderTraitor actors converting stolen assets primarily into Ethereum (ETH). It is expected these assets will then be further laundered by converting them using DeFi and instant swap services as they prepare them for further laundering stages.

How you can help

FBI, USSS, and IRS-CI are urging private sector entities including THORNode operators, RPC node operators, instant exchanges, DeFi services, blockchain analytics firms, and other virtual asset service providers to block transactions with or derived from addresses TraderTraitor actors are using to launder these stolen assets. See the full list of addresses below.

Reporting

The FBI maintains its commitment to protecting the virtual asset community by identifying, mitigating, and disrupting North Korea's illicit cybercrime and virtual asset theft activities. If you have any information to provide, please contact your local FBI field office or FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov.

Addresses

The following addresses are holding or have held assets from the theft, and are operated by or closely connected to North Korean TraderTraitor actors:

I wonder if CZ checked to make sure Binance still has custody of those shares... securing assets doesn't seem to be their 'forte'.
securing assets doesn't seem to be their forte.
(translated with tool-translater to portuguese>Proteger ativos não parece ser o 'forte' deles.)

my translation, like i read on my  native language>

Segurança com ativos nao parece ser seu 'forte'

> "doesn't seem to be their 'forte'", or "nao parece ser o seu forte",

...

it's a term well used here that fits well in the way you used it, as if there were facts that lead to understand that the person is not good at this or that, so if you say, it doesn't seem to be your forte, which leads me to doubt, if, "forte" is a word from the English language, and the term used is also the same.... only this doubt ,    because,   when i type=  " nao parece ser o seu forte " In the translator I use, it appears as you wrote, but in other versions it appears, "doesn't seem to be your strong point", I'm just saying that this expression of the way it was put caught my attention... I'm sorry for something...only a doubt that keep kicking on my mind....

Google Develops Crypto Security System to Counter Cyberattacks

by James Maguire:

Google is introducing a security platform designed to protect cryptocurrency and other digital assets from cyberattacks. The new Google Multi-Party Compute (MPC) service is built for financial institutions that need stronger security for blockchain transactions and digital asset custody.

The platform, which Google is showcasing at its digital assets symposium in New York, is currently being tested by several major financial institutions, according to CoinDesk. Google expects to launch the commercial version in early 2027. Pricing has not been announced.

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, has already deployed the technology to protect its own digital assets on the Ethereum and Solana blockchains. Google has not disclosed which assets it holds or named the banks participating in the product’s testing.

The security platform is built to reduce the theft of private cryptographic keys, which are used to authorize the transfer of digital assets. This theft is a major weakness in cryptocurrency infrastructure.

Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis says that stolen private keys accounted for 43.8% of cryptocurrency theft in 2024. Data from DeFiLlama indicates that blockchain projects had suffered a cumulative $16.69 billion in losses from hacks and exploits as of June 2026, with approximately 40% attributed to compromised private keys.

Recent breaches highlight the costs of inadequate key protection. In June, attackers stole more than $32 million from at least 17 wallets associated with Humanity Protocol after compromising a foundation member’s private keys. The attack also contributed to a decline of more than 80% in the project’s token value.

Distributing Credentials

Google’s MPC technology is designed to make these attacks more difficult by distributing the cryptographic credentials required to authorize transactions across multiple computing environments. Rather than maintaining a complete signing key on one system, the technology distributes control among separate computing environments, with support for additional cloud providers and customer-operated systems planned.
....
...
..

..
well, it may be that 'CZ' will stop spending money on the new google product, and other ETF holders and etc,... but somehow this reading leads me to understand that these ETF bitcoins are somehow leased in smart contracts... they couldn't, since they don't know how to prove that each BTC ETF has its collateral..., but only they know about this proof..., well I don't know if there is any open to the public, so I think these BTC ETFs are still a speculative scam... and it doesn't serve as real BTC, just another printed money that doesn't use paper.... well, but it's just one more thing that I thought excessively...
...
but at the same time I still think, this business of them always sending bitcoins that came from seized addresses and etc to CoinBase could be a sign that they don't understand security very well, or send them there to settle under the table? Just as Tether has Treasury bonds in its reserves, Coinbase would also have? I don't know, but later the custody of these bitcoins is strange.

Enjoy your hike! The place looks really nice.

Thank you for not being one of those obnoxious people who have to smear their graffiti feces everywhere with paint that never comes off.

The place no doubt is very nice, the only problem it has is the deforestation that is still going on. Lets hope sense prevails and authorities stop cutting the trees because its an irreversible damage to nature.

I have found for me ankle support is the most important when I hike on 'rougher' trails.

They looks nice but there price will go sky high if I import them to Pakistan. Price is 22,117 Pak Rupee ($80) and if shipped to Pakistan then price will be 69,215 Pak Rupee ($250).

Here we have huge market of used shoes where one can find a good hiking shoe for $20 to $30 but I always go for new one.

I found a good option that covers the ankle and price is reasonable too.
