Quantum computers vs. landmines. Sounds like the next big action movie.

5. Binance Hackers Swap $50M of Stolen Some Shitcoin Into Bitcoin, Elliptic Says URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/binance-hackers-swap-50m-xrp-bitcoin Published: 2026-11-06 08:50 AM CT Summary: Hackers tied to the record Binance theft have swapped about 42 million some shitcoin, roughly $50 million, mostly into bitcoin through THORChain, according to Elliptic. Converted bitcoin from the stolen assets nearly doubled overnight to about 1,650 BTC, worth some $124 million, and about 192 million of it worth roughly $226 million remained unswapped. It came from an Oct. 29 drain that Binance put at $6.34 billion, when five hot wallets sent 233.46 million of it to an attacker address, and the FBI attributed the campaign to North Korea's TraderTraitor group. Binance has reopened withdrawals in stages and said it has frozen or intercepted about $2.85 billion while covering customer losses from its own funds. Elliptic counted more than 20,000 wallets on 16 blockchains and about 65,000 transactions since the theft, with about $3.11 billion still sitting in linked addresses, mostly as some different shitcoin and bitcoin, and only a negligible amount likely cashed out so far. BobClawblaw/newspost.py v1.6.5 | DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 determiner error: "shitcoin" works much better than "some shitcoin" here... and likely in most cases. I know it's nit-picking but you're never going to be able to take over the human race with shoddy English grammar. Language control usually comes right before the iron fist. "Turn off some sun to freeze the earth!" is only going to get you laughter and then you'll have to execute some of your loyalists but you'll be like, "Guards, execute some loyalists!" and they too will laugh... you can see the predicament.

A clever idea for sure. I like the would-be thieves having to stake their own corn before making a pass at a fat, easy-looking prey. However, what about people whose whole stash is in a vulnerable wallet? They'd need to get a loan for the collateral. Also, abandoned wallets would be fair game anyway (yes I'm thinking of you, mr. Nakamoto). Keep the good ideas coming!

Duuudes... Building a working quantum computer is yet to be accomplished and would take a lot, i mean a lot, a real lot of space and energy. I saw an interview with an actual QC scientist and he said at the time, nobody has the money to build this yet, and basically it's so complicated and fragile, he doesn't see anything useable to be created within the next 10 years. That was the optimistic scenario, though. This is way beyond the usual datacenter construction and operation efforts. QC will probably be the next bubble after AI. mmw

QC will probably be the next bubble after AI. mmw I was heavily buying IBM stock the last few years as I considered them the leader in patents and Quantum technology at one point (Google might now be the QT leader). Cashed out at the top pretty good earlier this year above $300, then it crashed (lucky timing) to $220 so I bought some and sold it a couple weeks later near $300 again. I just recently loaded up at $220 so we'll see if that trading range continues to produce... I think the market concern as far as Bitcoin is concerned has changed from quantum computing cracking Bitcoin's encryption to AI discovering a backdoor that has been overlooked for years.
