Hello,

After almost one year of hard coding, I want to introduce to you the result of my huge efforts: SeeKoin, a new Bitcoin search engine.

SeeKoin crawls the Internet and harvest the pages only related to Bitcoin, Blockchain and some other cryptocurrencies.

But SeeKoin behaviour differs from the other search engines: it doesn't crawl random pages but try to index the information according to the requests done by the  users. Thus, I am not the one deciding what should go to the SeeKoin index, but you are, most of the time. Of course, only Bitcoin and similar crypto technologies pages will be indexed.

SeeKoin has lots of indexing capabilities, and doesn't rely on other search engines API: it has its own features and its own spider bot, a mysterious program called "Bobo". When you will be using SeeKoin, you will see web pages are not the only item Bobo can index. You may have some good surprises using specific requests ...

I would not consider SeeKoin totally completed: there may be some remaining issues and bugs. I would like to have your comments to improve this program and why not building together something very useful for the Bitcoin community, one of the most valuable one I have ever met. I will be opened to your requests.

Coding a search engine is not a simple job, but for sure a real good experience.

Have a nice day.
Warren.

Great work.  It was amusing that Propornot said a few links are Russian fake news  Cheesy when in fact it is Propornot who deal in fake news. Only comes up when using Googles chrome browser who also now deal in propaganda. Im getting off topic here. As I said, great work but I have a suggestion. Can you make the page a bit nicer and the search box a bit more obvious. Perhaps center your page design?. Just a suggestion. Do you have plans to include all Crytpto, or is this not a possibility in the future?

Well done.

PS
After a few mins I'm now totally fine with the design. See how people just jump the gun.  Cheesy

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the design is still poor as I really suck in web designing. Will have to hire someone to do it.
Regarding Crypto, I can add as many as I want but for the meantime, I chose the most revelant. (Ethereum, dash, litecoin, etc.).
This may be updated in the future.

Why did you create it (aside from the fun). What is your goal now, I'm thinking ad revenue. Not that Im suggesting that was your goal but surely there must
be some compensation in it for you

I am a long-term trader and Bitcoin is one of the assets of my portfolio. I wanted to have as most as possible information related to Bitcoin. That was one of the reason; the second one was the challenge: as already mentionned, coding a search engine is definitely not easy. I liked this challenge.

Concerning the business model, ad revenue is indeed a good one, affliate links could be another one. Actually, the business around search engines is huge and very good as long as you can solve the most difficult issue: popularity.

Good work.Any plans on making the code open-source ? I'm very interested in contributing.I specialize in Data Structures and Algorithms,so making things faster is my side hobby.
I will tell you where you algos failed : I searched for Blockchain Porn, returns nothing found but if you search the same keywords on google, the show you relevant results.
Anyhow,I love the project and the idea and much appreciate the efforts.

Why did you create it (aside from the fun). What is your goal now, I'm thinking ad revenue. Not that Im suggesting that was your goal but surely there must

Too soon to decide on that.

Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding the code, even if I am strong open-source fan, there could be an issue: I created my own ranking system, which I would like to be confidential for an obvious reason: many villains could cheat my SERPS and spam them.

However, there are some parts where a hand could be welcome, like complexe storage, big data, fetching the right information, and so on.

My algo is not like google which use a "trawler" method: parse all the webpages and arrange them. Mine is more focused on user requests: since you looked for "blockchain porn" which didn't exist in the SeeKoin index, the spider now will try to look for related pages and hopefully index them soon. That's the way the index has been populated for almost one year now.

So the most requests we will have, the most revelant results we will get. I only hope you won't populate the index only with bitcoin-porn content  Grin

SeeKoin is not a generalist search engine, but a specialist one: it would waste a lot of time using the trawler method.

Good innovation, plus it's a lot effort I think use without api and indexing with yours bobo.
I see funny guy behind it Grin

Well of course the interface should improve, I think make them like google search engine for home page will be good look, it can be expose your logo and simplify the users to take a search.
If you need help for some graphic design, feel free shoot me with PM.

And I think you should use SSL soon.

Thanks you. Yeah, I really need to review the design. Good idea too to be able to make SeeKoin as a home page to drive more traffic.
Any other cool idea to grow popularity ?

First and foremost i commend your efforts in putting this piece of website together.
I made some search from the website and i discovered that it has time limited searching and i guess it might not have been configured because the search seems to start from 2016 or there about.
Try all your efforts to bring this up to a higher level by creating some adnetworks like google adword and adsense stuffs around your search engine whereby we can bid for keyword.
Finally you must be honest in everything about this website.

Advertising is the most important thing, of course need a cost should you spend.

There are a free way to advertising, spread your site to cryptocurrency forum, exchange traffic, and exchange banner with site related to your market.

And could be add more unique features.

Nice! I really love your concept, especially, indexing information after users request for something. This is both good and bad. The good is obvious, the bad is because users who search for sth which has not been indexed will obtain an empty search result. Maybe think of something to give results of unindexed queries.

I would love to see this project grow and would also love to contribute if you ever open your doors to other programmers.
All the best for the project Cheesy

This is great!  I get bored typing extra stuff to clarify it's about Bitcoin and scrambling through meaningless results.  You're right, the design is a bit ugly but I don't really care about that.

Many thanks for the comments, this helps a lot. So, I got other feedbacks from other sources which inspired me. I am already working on some improvements and completed some. Here is already one, I am glad to introduce you: SeeKoin can now index PDF files. Type "ethereum" for instance and browse the serps to see the results.

Wow, it's a great site. It's really a nice and unique idea. Just saw it now. A search engine only for cryptocommunity. I can see so much of hardwork behind it.You need to promote it. May be a small signature campaign like that. Then only everybody will come to know about it. I am sure it's going to be very successful. I have submitted my faucet,  in the faucet section.Hope will get approval. All the best for your new venture.

@savioroshan: Your faucet was approved and added.

@memequiserle: My search engine is fully dedicated to Bitcoin, unlike Google which is an universal search engine. And more:
- build its index according to the requests entered by the user
- don't spy on you. I even don't use cookies to identify visitors
- improve its features according to what the users are expected.

First, congratulations - it's a good start already Wink

Now, memequiserle's question is kind of relevant if you want to really drive traffic there. For this purpose I would gradually improve the search engine to include more cryptocurrency-specific features.

Nice features would be:
- display cryptocurrency prices in a "structured" manner. E.g. if the user requests "bitcoin price", give them various sources with the actual prices in USD, EUR, CNY etc. For the far future, a recent "chart pic" would be uber-cool ...
- a block explorer integration for the most relevant cryptocurrencies
- structured information about a cryptocurrency. e.g. if you enter "Ethereum", display a box with some basic informations about that cryptocurrency, similar to the Google Knowledge Graph.
