As you can see there, on 1 month chart, GEERTCOIN was been traded on coinexchange.io! That was been a real pump!  Grin
So we still do mining it (to confirm transactions in mainnet)
and we wait for next pump or for trading GEERT on new markets.
Very few people wants to sell GEERT there, all the more so now.
That means, anyone can buy GEERTCOIN on coinexchange.io - and withdraw GEERT there, to his cold wallet.
To synchronize the wallet, can be used the following nodes: https://www.coinexchange.io/network/peers/GEERT

Hi Mate ...

Do you have the details of where the BootStrap or BlockChain is located to download?

Good reference. Btw why is coinexchange down? First some fat fingered bro hits the buy button, probably confuses the coin with another, then pump abates and exchange goes down. A typical order of things in the crypto space. Damn even little coins, some of them being my picks, do fly but I never get to sell these, almost never. Unless I put sell orders at ridiculously low levels.

Hi Mate ...

Do you have the details of where the BootStrap or BlockChain is located to download?

#crysx

Hello. I do not know how to make bootstrap, how to loadblocks from this, and where need to publish this bootstrap-file.
But, I have the node:
Code:
addnode=node.611.to:64333
And, as you can see here: https://ping.eu/port-chk/
Quote
node.611.to:64333 port is open

I have blockchain with 353981 blocks, right now, this have size ~250 MegaBytes,
and also, there is possible to raise Iquidus Blockexplorer, after downloading blocks.
I cann't store this blockchain forever, because warranty on my HDD is just 1 year,
so I recommend to download it and diversify it, do this decentralized - and ASAP,
then host it, and publish the lists with working addnodes.

If anyone have more blocks, he can connect there,
by adding:
Quote
addnode=node.611.to:64333
in config.conf,
and running geertcoin-qt.exe with this config-file:
Code:
start geertcoin-qt.exe -conf=config.conf
pause
Then, this new blocks will be uploaded on my node, after connection, and synchronization.

If you have more blocks, you can also, make your own public node by adding the following strings in your config.conf:
Quote
# Allow to accepting connections to downloading and uploading blockchain
listen=1
port=64333
# Your domain name or external IP
externalip=node.611.to
bind=127.0.0.1
bind=0.0.0.0
Then, you can open your port, by using Port Forwarding,
check is this port is open, here: https://ping.eu/port-chk/ or by using another port checker,
and publish your IP:PORT, or (domain name/DDNS):PORT - here, in this topic.

To do solo-mining, need to have established connections with geertcoin-mainnet,
and solo-mining can be processed directly, on the geertcoin wallet, through RPC-server. config.conf:
Quote
#   To do a solo-mining on RPC-server:
server=1
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=password
rpcbind=127.0.0.1
rpcbind=0.0.0.0

rpcport=64332
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
#   Or accept connections from any address:
#rpcallowip=0.0.0.0

Then, there is possible to do solo-mining, by using a some miner:
Quote
::   ccminer help:
::ccminer-x64.exe --help

::   solo-mining geertcoin, when wallet is conneted, and RPC-getwork method is working:
ccminer-x64.exe -a scrypt -o http://127.0.0.1:64332 -u user -p password --intensity=18
pause

But now, I have 0 connections, and getwork-method is not working to do solo-mining:
Quote
[2020-07-19 21:12:34] HTTP request failed: Failed to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 64332: Bad access
[2020-07-19 21:12:34] get_work failed, retry after 30 seconds

Console getwork-test:
Quote
21:36:52 getwork
21:36:52
Geertcoin is not connected! (code -9)

My nodes from addnode list in config.conf, is too old:

So, maybe need to post in this thread a fresh addnode-list,
because I see this coin was been delisted from everywhere,
and there is no any working mining pools, or exchanges,
and last generated block was been minted 34 weeks ago.
What happend?

mining gpu
POW mining with algorithm sCrypt using sCrypt-ASIC's, like for Litecoin, DogeCoin, etc.
This ASIC's can be rented here: http://miningrigrentals.com/
because CPU/GPU mining for this algorithm is not enough effective.

I think, will be better to modify the source code, and add Proof-Of-Stake there, like TajCoin have (POW/POS),
because when mining difficulty is growing, this make blockchain non-stable,
and transaction cann't be confirmed by using CPU/GPU POW-mining, and try to generate even 1 block...

Maybe adding the Proof-Of-Stake algorithm, with 0% reward (just to confirm transactions),
can resolve the blockchain stuck for this coin, because block-reward is too small, after 360,000 blocks,
after 15 halvings from 200 GEERT, to continue the mining of this coin.

Who will be interested to do mining this GEERT, after 15 halvings, with block-reward 0.006 GEERT per block?  Grin
Even I'm, alone can not do mining this, because, after ASIC hash-power, difficutly so high to do mining one block on CPU.

Anyway, anyone can try to do mining of this coin.

I have GeertCoin blockchain, this is an official blockchain of all miners and holders, and cryptopia-traders.
Last block was been mined 56 weeks ago.
I can sell it for 100 BTC for anyone, +100,000 GEERT as bonus (I have 200,000 GEERT).
Up to 100,000 GEERT (of course, lesser), I can pay for anyone, who will be able to implement a Proof-Of-Stake mining with 0% block-reward,
just to confirm transactions, and move this blockchain up.

hehehe ...

I assure you I am not interested in buying anything to do with GEERT, especially at 100BTC unless it is to add more property to our portfolio we have been currently building here at CWI.

I merely asked because there is a possibility I would have looked at helping here since our developers are building a template for OUR coins, and could easily be adapted to GEERT (or any coin for that matter).

This is a coin that (like many) have been abandoned and are in no shape to be resurrected unless the community get behind it. You seem to be one of very few that want to see this coin developed, and unfortunately that is not enough for developers to invest countless hours redeveloping this code as well as fixing any future issues.

There may be some value later IF there are developers to take it on, but honestly, it will take a lot to get this running again. Which is unfortunate, because the state of the coin is disastrous at the moment.

What do you think is the best way to move forward with a coin whose blockchain has not moved for over a year?

My offer was published not only for you, but for everyone who wants to purchase GeertCoin, including miners, holders of old coins, as well as for investors and traders.

At the moment, it seems that the price is too high because BTC is overpriced by $.
However, it is also worth considering that M2 of dollars is more than 19 trillions:
https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/money-supply-m2
Therefore, this price may even be small for some really serious investors.

Moreover, my offer is unlimited and does not depend on the price of GEERT, or the price of BTC.
Even if BTC is $ 150 and Geert is $ 10, I will sell my Geert for BTC because I want BTC, not $.

I don't know if you need GeertCoin or not, and if you do, I don't know why.
But I do not recommend buying this if you do not know exactly how you can make a profit using it.
And of course, I only recommend buying this if you know for sure how to profit from it.

As for your question...
That is the issue ...
Moving the blockchain when no one wants to mine is a problem.
I think, on 1 core CPU, using miner with sCrypt-algorithm,
or using the console-command
Code:
setgenerate true genproclimit
there is possible to do mining next few blocks, to confirm the transactions.
This is possible, after connect just two peers, and I can raise the node, if needed.
This is the main property of decentralized main networks of the all coins.
Just connect two peers, do mining, and confirm the transactions, and coin is alive again.
If noone do not want to do mining, and mining difficulty is so high, then, there is possible to rent hash-power,
on miningrigrentals.com, just to confirm transactions. Or use USB sCrypt-ASICS...
As variant, there is possible to using merged-mining with litecoins/dogecoins, etc...
But in this case, mining difficulty can growing up so much.
Anyway, even in this case, anyone can rewind the blockchain,
up to block with lower mining difficulty, and continue to do mining from this block,
and do mining the longer chain, to override the chain, that have a shorter blockchain-height.
In this case, of course, you will have to negotiate and pay compensation for redefining the chain.

By this ways, GEERTCOIN can be alive, transactions can be confirmed, and mainnet can working for a long time.

Yes, I know many coins on the sCrypt algorithm can be listed on various pools and exchanges, without any backward compatibility issues. They are easy to connect and also easy to disconnect. The latter phenomenon is the main problem of GeertCoin. It was simply removed from all exchanges and pools, and trading was stopped.

In order to implement Proof-Of-Stake, there is enougth to copy and paste the code from already existing coins, that is open source. It's not countless hours, but it can only be done by a qualified programmer who can compile a new wallet. And I can pay GEERTCOIN for him.
I don’t know C ++, and I cannot edit the source code correctly, because it would really take me “countless hours”, maybe even months and years.

I don’t think the developers will do any development,
because here: https://github.com/GeertAltCoin/Geertcoin/tree/master/src
last commit was been 4 years ago, on 16 Feb 2017, and only 4 forks there:
https://github.com/GeertAltCoin/Geertcoin/network/members - without any changes (just backups).
Maybe, developers, lost their password, after 4 years, or created new coin, and just migrate there.
Because of this all, I think, the development of GEERTCOIN, is possible, but, by create new fork of the source code,
and then, change the source code, there.
Of course, in the case of no any connection to developers, to apply some changes, officially, by creating the pull-request.

As I said earlier, to raise the mainnet up, again, this is not a problem as long as someone really needs it to confirm their transactions.
But the main problem is the economic inexpediency of mining with such a low block reward.
Therefore, an endless Proof-Of-Stake with 0% block-reward could solve this problem,
just because, mining need to confirm transactions,
and according Proof-Of-Stake consensus,
who own the coins, they can confirm their transactions, themself, by generating new blocks in blockchain.
And to prevent double spending, in the absence of synchronization, and without active connections,
anyone can simply download the file with the current blockchain,
and sign it with a hash - the recipient's private key,
and post the link of this file, here, for example.

#crysx

So, in the long-term, the longer this GEERTCOIN is inactive, the more it is valued as antiques and rarity. Just because - try to buy it!..

I understand all that you have mentioned ...

I am no newbie here mate Smiley

I am just not interested in the slightest in 'buying' anything that comes with the encumberment of a dead coin. I have a few of those that we are revamping and reviivng now to integrate into our own Master Coin (codeNamed CoinX currently).

What Ihave been interested in is how to help here. That is all. I would not pay 100BTC for the likes of GEERT in a million years, regardless of 'profit'. I (and my Company) have NEVER been in interested in 'profit' as it negates the mere existence of Crypto by focusing on that one part.

So I'll come back to the original reason (which I have posted here afew times now) as to how we can possibly help. There is not a chance in hell I will take one cent to pay for this project. I have infrastructure and miners and all forms of backend systems that could help, but you seem hell bent on selling what you have that is at it's core FREE.

So good luck with doing anything at all here, as I have been watching this project fall to pieces because no one wants to HELP, and everyone wants to PROFIT. Hence the death of this project and any others that attach themselves so heavily to 'profit' instead of community help.

I'll keep watching from the sidelines.

First, a coin cannot be dead just because this is just a coin. Moreover, this can not be dead, while is alive the holders of this.
If a coin has been removed from pools and exchanges, and its advertising is prohibited, using moderation and censorship, this does not mean that it is 'dead'. The network can be raised at any time, as I described above.

Secondly, no one asks YOU to buy GEERTCOIN, and even more so if you do not have the money to buy it, at a negotiated price. You can just head on your way, but you don't need to tell me that GEERTCOIN is FREE and DEAD.

If it not mineable, now, just try to do mining of it.
If it's not trading, just try buy it somewhere.
Try to get it for free.
How much do you think you'll get?

I have no intention of selling my GEERTCOINS for fucking satoshies, even after million years.
It will be much easier for me, and more "profitable" to just burn it and wipe the private key using the Peter-Guttman method.

While bitcoin was mined 18 million, all my 4.5 BTC was stolen from me, on this forum on scams, after exchange this BTC, on illiquid coins!
And even the last one liquid asset (WUSD),
was been stolen - after a simple primitive moronic and rat manipulation.
I got $0 for my 4.5 BTC, so for me, BTC, really, cost $0.
It was been mined on difficulty 1, and it cost 6 cents at the start.
I know BTC is a bubble, so all this rat's degeneration does not surprise me, on this fake "market".
So, in fact, after all this, I don't want any fucking BTC-satoshies for my GEERTCOINS.
I do not consider 100 BTC to be any profit, because this BTC just cannot be really sold at the market price on these scam exchanges, also, after the exchange on this BTC, I will lose my GEERTCOIN.
Moreover, I do not need any cents or dollars, or the millions of dollars, because with a volume of $ 19 trillion M2, I will receive a very small share of the total money supply of that dollars.

Yes, I want and can sell, the blockchain +100,000 GEERTCOINs, for 100 BTC,
and not for YOU, but for anyone who really want or will want to buy this, it's just because I have this GEERTCOIN.
For example, for old cryptopia-holders, who can not access their coins, because blockchain stuck, and no any working addnodes.
In this case, they can acess their coins, just because they can not access this,
without blockchain, that really I still have, and can broadcast.
Maybe someone have 1-2 millions of GeertCoins, which really can have value more greater than 100 BTC.
Also, anyone from smart investors, can buy my coins too, while I can sell it, and while I did not lost my privkey.

As for the help, or development, I am not a c++ programmer to develop this coin, however, I believe that development should be done in a different fork and repository, because the developers, have been inactive since 2017. And if necessary, then in the long term, maybe, like Vitalik Butterin, I can do this on my own, by raising the network and mining pools, and even, perhaps, my own exchanges. Just because I have that GEERTCOINS.

Of course, purely hypothetical, because I do not plan to devote all my life just for this coin.
But, maybe, then, you'll want to buy even 0.00100000 GEERT, or lesser. Despite what you wrote to me, in previous post. Grin

Again ...

I don't buy coins. I buy businesses and assets in their many forms, of which coins are not one of them. Property, gemstones, precious metals etc.

The term 'DEAD" has been adopted by the millions when a coins chain is sitting still and NO ONE has the gall to restart it. I know, I have one of those coins we are resurrecting. RESURRECTING, which means 'bring back from the dead'. So please don't start with me on semantics.

I offered help a while ago to keep tis coin alive (the opposite of dead) and I got some help from you, but I never got ANY help with the resurrection (bringing back from the dead) of this coin. So no matter which way you look at it, dead is dead is dead. Again, I took over a project that is DEAD and stays dead until we finish the code to resurrect it (I'm speaking of 'our' coin Droidz DRZ as the example).

So all good in any case. I do believe you are on the right track though, but convincing developers to do this without any 'real' exchange of effort for payment will be a hard sell. I know - I have been doing this for over 9 years now.

I'll still keep watching here, but I won't interject any more unless you need me to.

What does "restart" mean?
Blockchain was created to prevent double spending.
Any restart of the mining process means a fork in the chain,
which means the cancellation of transactions,
the disappearance of coins that were mined at a short fork in the chain,
and the possibility of double spending of old coins, at these both forks.
This is unacceptable, because it contradicts the very idea of blockchain,
as a technology to eliminate double spending.
Thus, in order to maintain the coin, it is necessary to continue the generally accepted and canonical blockchain of the mainnet,
and not to do any restart of mining. Otherwise, it's a initialization of the scams.
If the blockchain of a coin has stopped, it does not mean that the coin is dead.
This means that no one wants to transfer coins and generate blocks to confirm their transactions.
In any case, it can be done locally, and the coin can work locally anywhere on the planet,
after connecting only two peers, and after generating several blocks.
And no one will see the movement of the blockchain,
despite the fact that this movement is.
When a coin is removed from pools and exchanges,
and the addnode lists are removed, this makes the blockchain-moving unobservable.
Thus, it seems to me that your definition of "DEAD" is not correct.

You are talking about receiving some kind of help, and that you did not receive this help.
What kind of help do you want to get, did you ask for it?

To raise the coin, need to create nodes, publish addnode-lists, sync nodes, and do mining the coin,
to confirm the transactions of transfer this coins.
