I think people would even consider putting all of their fiat money to bitcoins because if their country would lose the war, the value of their fiat would decrease and their economy would be devastated. Putting your money into bitcoins would a "playing safe" move.

Converting your bitcoins to fiat when there's a war going on would be foolish because you'll hardly find a store that's open at that time. People would consider making themselves safe before they make themselves so busy on their business.

But to be honest, when there's a war going on, none of this bitcoin/fiat thing will matter to you because survival would be the only thing that's on everybody's mind. You wouldn't see someone doing faucets at home while there's a world war going on.

I don't think btc or any cryptocurrency at that point would be of any use to anyone. As you've said, most likely ww3 would on a nuclear scale and one can simply note that it will affect anything we do online. So if in case ww3 breaks out, i think we'll have to say goodbye to digital currencies

Well if there's no electricity than there is no computer usage and internet and therefore bitcoin would be useless. Maybe it can be helpful After the WW, since war torn countries would fall into hard economy times and bitcoin may be able to soften that a little.

It would be useless in short period of time, several month to year, but at least people don't have to discover electricity again that took humankind centuries.  Once WW 3 end, survivor will automatically restablish infrastructure and I can see the fastest and trusted mode of international payment would be Bitcoin once internet is up.  Fiat money will be stucked as local use since banking need to reestablish itself.

The 1st and 2nd world wars produced very negative consequences for humanity. I do not think they will want to live this again.

Power outages? People would use generators. Bitcoins would skyrocket in price because certain fiats would be worthless. So it's all relative. Your bitcoins won't be able to buy you more but they'll be worth 100,000 USD. That's what I see happening. With trump in office this is inevitable so we'll have our answer in the next few months.

As general war and crises in a country would probably help Bitcoin rise. World War 3 is impossible without near or total destruction of humankind and most other mammals so I would suggest if we have WW3 then it will be game over for all currencies and stores of wealth. The people who survive will need to forage for food. Now lets say no one in the southern hemisphere gets nuked in WW3 which could be quite likely (maybe ignoring Australia) I still imagine that the fall out from 1000 nuclear bombs (some 1000x larger than have ever been seen before) would cause black skies, and nuclear fall out for years making crops fail, people die of malnutrition. When krakatoa a volcano last erupted it caused the Irish potato famine and the world wide temperature to drop by 1.2C for the next year due to lack of sun getting through the atmosphere.

i am agree with this and we should be back into the pre historic moment and we only use traditional thing to do something in our life. i think if world war third is happen, then the impact will be bigger than world war two because each country have new weapon with the highest and the new technology so they can send their missile into every where they want and it will accurate to make a bad impact to other countries. beside that, they can use their robot to destroy one by one their enemy so they can win the war with easy.

The world is very globalized at the moment, so I have reason to believe that such event would not shut down the internet in the world, or something like that. In addition, this would bring instability to fiat currencies, and thus the demand for cryptocurrencies would increase.

If world war 3 happened we will go back to a bartering system, dollars will be useless, and the same can be said about gold and bitcoin, after some time maybe gold will make a comeback but right after the war the most important things will be food, weapons, ammo, alcohol, drugs and stuff like that.

Back to topic, bitcoin could still be useful, even rise in price, in areas that are not yet affected by the war. Should an area enter the conflict though, it can no longer be assured. Bitcoin would be the last on people's minds and even having electricity and internet might not be enough. You can bring your bitcoins with you though when you flee your country, so that's good.

The biggest question of course would be, would there be humans left to use bitcoins? Just a nuclear war between India and Pakistan could already lead to severe changes to the climate, just imagine bombs from the other nuclear armed nations coming off.

Just like you said, after all that war the whole world will eventually be okay again and there may even be a new monetary system which *can* be bitcoins. With that thinking, someone who has food can hold it for a while and then sell it for a good amount of bitcoins later. It would be absurd to exchange it for cash because you don't know what would be the value of your fiat after the war.

On a side note, I'm thinking there's no safe place at all when there's a world war. Because you know.. World war. That basically means the majority of the world have war. Supposed that there's a safe place, for example, it's on Iceland, and you live in Taiwan, you wouldn't be able to get there anyway so you better just dismiss the idea of it.

Even though I'm holding a small amount of bitcoins and I trust cryptocurrencies , I can't say that bitcoins will be used after WWIII , the same scenario will happen like the other wars , gold will simply be the only thing that worth anything. I found it impossible for gold and silver to lose value , It's the only thing that has been used for thousands and thousands of years and still being used right now.
