I think the major reason is to take care of the earth. If we analyze it properly, one will notice that only us have been blessed with such capabilities. We possess control over every other living thing. I don't think this comes to be coincidentally. From the Christian point of view, I would also say in order to worship God. But I'm sure many will disagree. I hope many agree with my first opinion anyway. And honestly, we humans must take this responsibility more seriously and stop doing otherwise. Destroying the earth.
