It could even be that Zero was introduced as an alternative for Zcash, if Zcash does not bring the success that at least Zero successfully starts.
Since this is not the case, it can be that the developer has even invested money in Zcash and thus it makes little sense to promote Zero further.

I personally think about boycotting Zero, maybe you hear something from the developer

Seems strange, betting against his/her/their own project. And also this coin launched well after Zcash, so I don't think this is the case at all.

Well it's not the first time a developer has abandoned a coin and will not be the last. I would still buy a ton of it if the price drops really really a lot as it will also not be the first abandoned project that gets revived.

That is good to have. I am waiting with patience for future development, if there is any.

I'd be interested in any detail of difference between zcash, zclassic, zencash and now zero.

I know forks have got rid of the 20 per cent founders amount on zcash. But what is, for example, the main benefits/differences between zencash and zero? What will get non-miners interested in the coin?
Now it's about marketing and proving that it work as well. With the right development this coin can rise very well, now is just about team work. Wink

So we are going to overtake the coin or what? I think that dev abandoned this, last info is over months old.

you're not paying attention

dev visited forum as recently as 28th august, he regularly checks in but as he says he will very rarely post to thread

there was a commit made to github by him as recently as yesterday

I uderstand some people are trying to drive price down further, I think it's reached rock bottom
I expect an announcement from dev soon
we have domain, logos etc on sidelines when ready

I am Bonkers BTW

Wow, a github commit? I almost wet my pants. So it was all mind games to shake weak hands? Good job, dev.

So a miner for new 8GB cards.... good.  A miner for old 4GB cards... so much for wanting modern GPU's.  And ZERO (see what I did there) miner for the many many thousands of new 1060 6GB cards currently mining..... way to alienate a huge part of the mining market.  Anyone not mining note the 2.5%! miner fee.  Looks exactly like the dev/s couldn't compete with EWBF or Claymore so they made a coin incompatible with their equihash miners to make a subpar miner only compatible with ZERO and rake in mining dev fees.  I say rake in... but looking at the nethash.

If this coin is a fork of ZEC, does it have zerocash implemented?

My worst investment for 2017 and I keep buying more and more... to be honest I don't really like developers who work in silence for months and months and let the price tank then suddenly come with a lot of new stuff and create a huge P&D. Regular updates should be part of the work of any honest developer.

Friend,

What are you complaining about?
you only buy when they're cheap and wonder why they don't come up.
Now you're shitting your pants.
and want confirmation from the dev that your investment was worthwhile.

How can you buy 5000 in this situation?

 Grin

I think
the only thing the dev meant by zero is experimental

is if zcash succeeds is zero died! Wink

you are wrong

Lokko, thanks for jumping in!
Every rational participant is expected to mine or buy or sell this Altcoin if that makes financial sense to them, or they like the direction of the project.

The Dev did a serious chunk of work to create and launch this coin, and is hosting two seeder nodes. I see no reasons to claim a scheme or scam or conspiracy on the part of the Dev. The man is simply BUSY, and he said so from the beginning. Some of us do have a job and a family and a life...

He did step-up when a Zcash bug was revealed, and upgraded the Zero codebase to Zcash 1.0.8-1

The interest in tuning Equihash parameter values, shared by me and other researchers, is a solid enough reason for Zero's existence. Just think of all the relatively small tweaks to the Bitcoin codebase that the XT and Classic and Unlimited and Cash have made, and all the resulting hoopla...

So, I'm going to stick with this project.

I am shitting my pants? Lol. You misunderstood what I wanted to say, but that's OK. I don't mind cheap coins all the way down to 1 satoshi, but this is not how you run a project if you want to have any kind of credibility. If you want to have a P&D coin, it's perfectly fine. Just don't be surprised what happens after the price pumps.

I'm glad there is all the back-and-forth. Means there is enough interest in Zero still.

The Dev did say we need a site, so let's do one.

I can provide hosting, lay down a WP site with some basic plugins and a Forum. By way of example, I have a simplistic WP site for another Altcoin community project: http://practicecoin.com/
Then, give people with more design sense and experience Admin or Author access, to do a snazzy site. Or if someone wants to take on the whole thing, so much the better.

Once the site is up, I can write an article about the PoW Equihash algorithm history, goals, experience. Also, can write a paragraph about the Zcash and Zclassic / Zen.

Guido has a cool domain name reserved
FidoThaDog offered to do a design
komodomining wanted to do design, promotion, host a mining pool
lokko will do promotion
optiminer talked about getting Zero listed on more exchanges

Several people have contributed technology in the past, so let's get them involved again.
Will ping, 1towia who hosts http://zeroexplorer.com
zerodev2 is hosting a seeder node, and produced a patch, so will message him too.

#zerocurrency tag is already present on Twitter

The Slack has a #website channel, so let's coordinate there, please. Also, #development and #promo channels await your input. https://zerocommunity.slack.com

the people you're talking to already know to start now?

Will wait for a day for the folks to start jumping into the fray, and after that start messaging them individually.

Hey guys,

Just discovered ZERO. I've read the initial posting and it seems like a nice, honest fork of Zcash. Previously I was a fan of HUSH but even they have a small premine, so ZERO seems even more of an honest and fair coin.

However the name is really so similar to other Zcash forks that it seems like it will be very hard to differentiate itself. What about a rebrand (ala HUSH) to something with no similarity to Zcash. So that ZERO can forge it's own identity. Thoughts?

Secondly, I'd like to contribute in terms of copywriting and UX/UI - is there a developer hangout where I can get involved?

Cheers

Looks like Zero has a small but active community after all. I think I like the spirit. Can I get an invite for your slack as well? I could help with pushing the price up when that is needed.
