I know (edit: the median) Americans are gun crazy and that on average there are ~ 90 guns for every one hundred citizens - but I thought there would be multiple guns per owner.

I am not US by birth but my wife is,in 2009 we were in the Riverside View Holiday Inn in Charleston SC when a fight broke out in the bar at the top of the motel. After the police came and interviewed everyone I asked the police sergeant what it was all about,he replied "oh dont worry it was just the usual North and South thing"I replied seriously he said Yes to most of the people in South Carolina and GA the war never ended they just took time out.
