I'm not a big fancy of meat, and I rare eat it, but I live in a climate where it's almost impossible to not weather leather shoes for wonder, since the winter is so hash. It's kinda hypocratic of me I think to still use leather and not eat meat...

Nowadays people are more educated and informed about their daily diet. Some of them find a way through vegetables to get rid of the habit  of eating meat. Some other prefer vegetables because of their belief or religion.I believe that meat is not necessary in our diet therefore i do eat meat. Smiley

One day I was eating an orange and I thought, "If an animal was killed every time I ate an orange, I would just stop eating oranges." For some reason it had never made more sense than that moment.

I have a friend who is a vegan. His idea is eating vegatables can save more energy because we need feed animals with food and it's a waste process for raising them.

I was driving on a highway in Ohio and passed a slaughterhouse truck packed with live chickens. I didn't realize they were alive until I made eye contact with one through one of those oval holes through the metal. The holes were just puffing out with feathers. It was so jarring and disturbing that I vowed to go vegetarian.

In all honesty, I didn't actually go vegetarian right then and there. I was like, "Surely there are more humane places out there." And started to research "humane certified" labels, which lead me to The Humane Society and I realized this was not even just a meat problem, but also a dairy and eggs problem.

So I was like, "Ok, I will ONLY get Certified Humane animal products." I spent HOURS looking up ratings on different farms, trying to determine the best products that I felt I could buy in good conscience.

I finally narrowed it down to a single brand of chicken that was maybe in some local stores. A single brand of eggs. And a handful of yogurt brands. No cheeses that I could find.

I lived like that for a while, still getting cheese from who-knows-where, and trying to buy "in good conscience" until I felt like it was not in good conscience at all.

The more research I did, the more I realized the environmental impact of the foods I was eating. Cheese is worse than chicken! That blew my mind the most.

It depends of cases. Some people do it because of religion, others for their health, and most of them because they love animals and they fight for their rights and in aim to let them live in good and natural conditions, that some farms doesn't always respect.

Preventing the exploitation of animals is not the only reason for becoming vegan, but for many it remains the key factor in their decision to go vegan and stay vegan.

People turn to becoming a vegan for different readons. Most common ones are so that they can have a more healthy lifestyle or even to try reducing their weight.

I imagine that there will be people who love animals and do not see the possibility of eating them, alomejor gives them grief or is simply a way of claiming the rights of animals.

Dairy cows are injected with hormones and antibiotics, and their food is laced with pesticides. Residue from the hormones, antibiotics and pesticides are found in milk. These have been linked to cancer and compromised immune systems.

Cows have to be impregnated to give milk, just like people. If the resulting calf is male, it is sold for veal. I'm sure you know what a pleasant future awaits them.

A problem with all egg production, even free-range, is the disposal of unwanted male chicks. Because male chicks don't lay eggs and do not grow fast enough to be raised for meat, they are deemed a financial liability, except for the few used as rooster studs. Nine out of ten male chicks are considered virtually useless and will be killed by the cheapest means available, including suffocation and being ground up alive.

I don't think this question has an ending answer because it has so many reasons why someone turn to vegan.

Maybe the beginning of why they choose to be vegan comes from a small thing, maybe they're on a diet to not consume meat, but the longer it's used to just eat vegetables and do not like to eat meat

I think people because of fashion become vegan, they want to be different from everyone and switch to such a diet. But for me it's very wild to give up useful meat food.

It's not a bad question to pose to vegans. From past experience being vegan can be caused by a whole array of reasons. A lot of times, I find that something traumatic has happened in the past to cause not eating meat.
