What features would you like to see in a chat?

We are planning to integrate a user chat into SpaceBTC's trading tab, and would like to know what features you prefer having in chats and which ones you find obtrusive.

We already have a live chat for users with technical problems, but user's can communicate with each other yet.

Assuming that the usernames will be visible, an option to distinguish moderators from normal users would be nice (probably different colors), the ability to mention users using "@" and having the message highlighted to whoever you are sending to could also makes things easier. Adding time is also important as Liqui, Poloniex and other exchanges don't have that feature, It's always good to know when a message was posted, If you think that adding that will make the chatbox just bigger then you could make it a Tooltip on the message Itself.

Something innovative than just copy others so you have something unique compared to other platforms. Though, you should consider first what OmegaStarScream discussed. These basic stuff are essential in any chat. I would say what I haven't seen on chats is to export chats. Sometime I think that is useful. Then you could also offer to have a private messaging too or trading through the chat.

I just imagine if there is a chat box, it makes me able to ignore the other users are trying to trolling us. I think will be like to use it. I don't ever see it before, but is it possible?

- Sound notification when someone tagged your name in chat
- Option to close the chat tab if they don't like to get disturbed by the trolls
- Active moderators to clear all the mesh from chat logs
- Clear text and background color combination, to make it easy to read. Also different colors for message written by mods and admin. Including different color for text written by us to differentiate it from others.

Yes, all of the features that must be in chat and it's very important. Maybe a little added it would be better if it had a feature can send pictures because between users can send images such as columns market fluctuations, etc. that will help. Or maybe to make chat between users more lively to add features attractive stickers. It would make between users more frequent to communicate.

I don't know if this still is working, but one from the best features i ever seen in chat have implemented https://luckyb.it/
They have lottery for users that are active in conversation, help other users etc.. As a result, they did not even need a moderator

I agree with you think. all of these features are very important to support the service. many people will choose a service excellence. I'm sure there will be a significant improvement when this feature is incorporated into a system.

Make it easy to sign up, just name, password and optional email.  Have extra security for people who want it (2FA etc).  Ability to PM users with notification sound on PM is a must.

what about translating feature or grammar help. probably there will be people who English is not their mother tongue or second language, so they can use the translation tool to get communicated with the other user.

A tip bot in any chat is always fun. It will also make the quality of discussion higher, funnier and smarter. And it always feels good to get a tip or two after making a witty retort with someone.

I would like to add another to this list and that would be chat suggestions, that will make the things faster than usual.

A private chat feature would be nice too. Im sure most of you have used IRC or something the same at some point in your internet lives. So something like that would really help if you want to talk to a single person at a time.

Tipping users for every written message is impossible. Just a few spammers would make moderators double work 24/7. But if moderator will have option of tipping for interesting/helpfull informations, it for sure will make this chat more usefull.

I feel it will invite more spammers than interesting/useful/helpful users. It will be a tough job for the moderators to differentiate between that spam.

I want features that can send and receive files,with the option to see my chat mates desktop once connected. This is only an option that both party approves as this may become a security risk or threat also.
