I doubt this will make any difference, considering how he really can't take criticisms. The only surprising thing is that I haven't seen him going on a "fuck you all!" spree yet. That or I haven't been watching the news. Or maybe they've finally learned. They removed the guy whose name must not be spoken from public appearances. Being confrontational when people are asking clarifications (especially since everyone in the damn palace contradict each other) is not a good approach.

He never listens to anyone. And trust me, he can afford to do that as long as he enjoys widespread popular support. If you remember, he used the same tactics even when he was serving as the Mayor of Davao.
If the people trust him, then he believes that this person will fulfill all the promises and everything that he declared before the elections. As they say, we deserve those rulers whom we have chosen.

Duterte is doing a job no one else had the guts to do.
Fix the country, weed out the corruption and remove and reduce the influence of drug cartels.
The country was far more dangerous with the cartels in operation.
Motorcycle shootings and assassinations were common plus Moro and pre-isis factions in Mindanao.

Shabu shabu and the poverty leading to serious drug addictions which are directly correlated with people having a rough time living in the shanty towns. It is the privileges we take for granted in the West security and safety that are a luxury they do not have.
Rather the people who are rich live in gated communities with security guards, the poor have to make do.
In order to make the country safer a tough hand needs to be played Duterte still has the support for it and for good reason.

I Slam the UN for preaching to the choir this needs to be done for the development of the country.
What they need to do is help support rehabilitation by giving monetary aid and personnel support to reduce the need of imprisoning and killing people instead of treating them.

I kind of like how they made Duterte a playboy though on US TV. No Hillary for president so have the Duterte actor pretend to be attracted to Clinton and harassing Hillary I mean (Madam Secretary) so they can punch Duterte (aka the actor in the face) instead no blatant propagnda here folks  Roll Eyes

More UN press release coming because the Congress of the Philippines has already passed the Death Penalty restoring it after being suspended in 2006. This is one of Duterte promise once he become President and made sure it was gonna passed. the restoration of capital punishment underlines the Duterte administration’s goal to reduce illegal drug-related criminality.

I'm pretty sure that Human's right group and UN will be once again criticize the President of the Philippines for this.

Well the UN didn't mention that he freed the older prisoners from jail.

President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte has reportedly offering executive clemency to 127 inmates across the country.

Duterte, dubbed 'The Punisher', was warned by a Senator he will be held accountable for his alleged extrajudicial killings during the President's anti-drug campaign.

However, in the meantime Duterte took a trip to National 'Bilibid' Prison in Muntinlupa city, with reports claiming the President released 127 inmates across the country under the recommendation of the Department of Justice

And who knows satisfied his supporters or not. I understand that they have no one asks. If they are not happy then they will be accused of links with drug trafficking, and the same shot on the street as drug dealers.

Exactly, this is one of his campaign promises however, the Philippines did not know the extend of the current drug problems that the society is facing. Only when Duterte elected as Philippine President, the full picture has surfaced. The second phase of his drug war will start soon but with different approach, but I think the outcome will still be the same, a lot of collateral damage, extra -judicial killings but no condemnation because the people of the Philippines likes what he is doing.

Which is perfectly fine. What kind of person would prefer good health of a drug dealer before children - often first victims of said criminals.

Since rest of the world did not invent some magical method how to deal with drug problem and trafficking, perhaps it should just shut up, so Phillipinos have chance at making their own country safe again.

Just my two cents.

It's good to hear that he is offering executive clemency to old inmates. However, more old inmates still die in the prison, and they are not in the national penitentiary. Most of them die even before the judges makes a decision about their cases.

I wonder if those mobile trial court still exist today, and if it does, I guess it's not effective as there are so many prisons with pending cases, and prisons with influences and with big money ends up outside the prison because their victims are pushed to just end up with settlement.

If you are going to analyze this kind of situation, you can know what will be the answer or why did other people die. We know how bad or the impact of drugs on our own daily lives. We should not comprised those things. We must not agree or we must think what will be the purpose of judicial killings. We must end those drug dealers, or those judicial killings has positive effects on those who uses drugs. We should participate on this, to eliminate those drug dealers and users.

If I remember accurately, the issue is that the judicial system is backlogged there are too many cases for too few judges and the problem is compounded with the drug war, which impacts police/legal the most. Also similar to the West if you can afford it you can delay it and get away from being charged.

"Judicial institutions in the Philippines are regarded as weak and corrupt and notoriously slow. Skilled lawyers can get their clients off of most charges by bogging down the system with a flood of documents, motions and counter motions and then files for dismissal because their client has been denied the right to a speedy trial. Philippine law calls for compassion for people over 70.

For poor people the justice system operates quite differently than it does for the wealthy and elite. They are most often represented by overworked public defenders who advise their clients to plead guilty to hasten the process and hopefully get off with a light sentence. In many places a system of patronage exists in which justice is defined as having enough money to buy yourself out of any fix."

I told you so. UN now slams the Philippines for passing the death penalty. But they can't do anything about it for now although their argument is that the Philippines should uphold the international human rights obligations of the country against the death penalty. He said that the problem was that past presidents do not have the political will to use it to strike fear on the hearts of criminals. I think with Death Penalty law also passed, He
sought for a return of the death penalty because that would be the only way to win justice for the victims of heinous crimes according to him.

I do not know about everything else, but with drugs it is necessary to fight cardinally and if knocking drug barons to decide the question, it means that everything was done correctly.

sought for a return of the death penalty because that would be the only way to win justice for the victims of heinous crimes according to him.

Well when your prison can be compared to a pretty decent hotel lodging there is a fair rationale for the death penalty.
Although it really does save them on policing cost having the gang members just split the responsibility between them and they really didn't have the political will De Lima was using the money made from the drug dealings and kickbacks to fund her campaign. Taking pictures with mob leaders is part of the electoral campaign and is part of their demographics.
Either way I think he wants the death penalty to clean up the prison a bit and to not reward people for doing crime, when the prison is more attractive than the Slum the country has a fundamental issue.

Beats the West in some ways though ha-ha seriously got axes in jail ^^.

In the Philippines Duterte gave full legal nihilism. Now he kills drug dealers, and then will kill disagree with his regime.

That sounds awfully judgmental for person, that presented but a single idea how to deal with armed gangs subservient to drug barons.

Do you wish to live in state that is policed by militia of drug lords? Inside Rio de Janeiro favelas perhaps? Or are you rather Detroit urban type?

The men that are being hunted down in Phillipines today are not your neighbours kids trying to get rich by selling marijuana at local high school. They are organized, armed, killers and traffickers. It is shameful, that instead of assistance the west scolds Phillipines for fighting back against these cancerous tumors.

If I remember accurately, the issue is that the judicial system is backlogged there are too many cases for too few judges and the problem is compounded with the drug war, which impacts police/legal the most. Also similar to the West if you can afford it you can delay it and get away from being charged.

~Snip

Lots of backlog in the local courts, specially in municipal trial courts. Cases are pending, and the accused has already served their sentence before the presiding judge could make a conclusion. Maybe they are holding too many cases with different types as every one of them are loaded with the same.

I hope that those mobile trial could court really exist, so that crimes that are not too sensational and other things such as notary can be handled by them.

BTT: I am sure that UN will never stop criticizing as Philippines is part of it. But since most of the UN's decisions are not obligatory, then I guess nothing is there to worry about.

That is very true, the current government headed py president duterte is trying its best to make our streets safe and free from criminals. But the other politicians and media personnel are going all out destroying the President. The reason is now clear its because they are receiving huge bribes from drug traders and that's why they are going against the President.

Wouldn't doubt this is also the same reason that the U.N decided that way in which they did, it's rather easy to pay these globalists scum to decide a certain way on blasting a leader who is actually taking charge on stopping the drug trade in his country.

People may say the way in which he's going about it is controversial and horrible, but everything relating to drugs being produced, sold, used, and so on are all controversial and horrible. So he's going to be fighting fire with fire, plus he has to fight all of the corrupt politicians, media outlets, and so on. This war isn't going to just be on drugs, it's going to be on everything relating to the money surrounding the drug trade.

Hats off to the President, for fighting the tough war on drugs.
