Bit Coin Market

Does the bit coin market ever close? Is it like the stock market which is closed on weekends/holidays and is only open during business hours? I realize that even the stock market has trades that happen when its closed so is this the same thing that happens with bit coins?

I guess I could see this varying by each exchange, but is there a schedule that all exchanges or the biggest ones, like MtGox, follow?
