Quote from: Mt.Gox on Facebook
UPDATE: This again appears to be another strong DDos attack. We are working hard to overcome it and will update when possible. It's currently 2am in Japan so please forgive us if our Facebook/Twitter updates are not as quick, though the team is certainly not taking any breaks. We're very much looking forward to implementing a much stronger solution very soon and will make an announcement to that effect once it's in place.

Unacceptable!
Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I don't use their site.  Never have, but it still effects the entire BTC price and community.  Give me a break!

Does not affect much.

They are a dying project from my perspective.

One can only hope.  It is sad to hear some idiot on Fox news or other major prosti-media-tute talk about how BTC is failing and only mention Mt. magic cards exchange.

Yeah, they are a bad brick-n-mortar for BTC.

Dark Exchange, Ripple, market adoption based pricing are things that will work for us better than Gox.

The price of Bitcoin is immaterial. Mtgox being down doesn't affect the network. The health of the Bitcoin network is far more important than any single website.

I agree.. Tolerance is only decided by the amount of time that you can lay aside to grow a baseless investment.

Bitcoin has a base now. People know its worth something. The human network effect will take over as it did the adoption of email and the web.

Patience is a virtue with Bitcoin. Those of us willing to wait another 5 years will be doing alright after the collapse of the central banks.

Nah you can see by the posts in the thread that none of that matters and Gox has no effect on the price or perception of BTC.

And yes I believe in the long run that BTC will prevail that does not change the fact that Gox's ineptness is not good for BTC now and for some time to come.

Yeah, I have only caught on report about it.  Just need to get some more reliable exchanges up and this will no longer be an issue.

Actually people (that matter) have been ignoring MtGox for weeks. This is slowly percolating towards the forum/reddit/whatever social media user level.
