Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Quite a few Brits may sell their £ to get BTC, but many, many more will buy $ or €.
I'm not expecting much change, if any. This was expected.

I'd say GBP is going to remain strong, it's Euro that I'd be worried about. GB doesn't need EU to function, it's the other way round. Countries that formed The Union were doing fine before and they will continue to do so when the Union collapses. Brits felt bad in there, so they left. There's really nothing to be scared of and I don't think they will start buying Bitcoin because of it.

This is going to cause a slight upswing in the exchange rates of the UKP and a major downswing in the value of the Euro. This situation can exacerbate, if Scotland secedes from the United Kingdom, and applies for the European Union membership.

Wasn't Scotland saying that it wants to keep some agreements with the EU (like trading as far as I recall) while still being a part of the UK? Or have they changed the course? Shocked

That would be unwise of Scotland, but I can understand them as they never felt a part of the UK. They used to be oppressed by England and might see an opportunity (and money) in joining the EU.
IMO it doesn't mean anything for bitcoin, but the opportunity lies in the problem EU is facing. Euro will go down and the worse big currencies are doing the better for bitcoin.

I heard that Nicola Sturgeon is planning for a new vote on the Scottish independence, probably later this year. Check this:

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-39263613

And this time, the chances are much brighter. I have a feeling that this time, it will be exactly the opposite of the last vote (55/45).

Just heard this too.
All nations want to be independent from those British rule days. Those are so 1800's.

On bitcoin's side, nothing will change much.

GBP will be ruined to deth though. Taking England out of Europe will cause massive trauma on Brits. In other words, long story short; Cheap Brit Coins are on their way.  Cool Stay with $$$.

GBP/USD used to be 2.0 wow, it became 1.5 later, and then 1.3, and now its 1.20. Soon it will be 1.04 or  smth, maybe lower. It will share the same fate as EUR. Maybe even worse.

More important is if other European countries follow the UK's lead and break away from the EU.

This would have to be extremely bullish for Bitcoin.

I just begin to wonder why does everything that happens needs to affect bitcoin, even to those who promotes things such as this will continue to increase uncertainty around bitcoin. The next we will hear is what if there peace in Syria what will that mean for bitcoin, or if Israel and Pakistan shoud have a peace deal, what will it mean for bitcoin? some will even go to the extent that what if Isis stops killing what will it mean for bitcoin? The fact is bitcoin should stand and let world politics does its thing.

Im expected that to happen but for now I dont heard something change in exchanging Bitcoin to GBP.
Lets wait until they officially exit on the EU.
I think you did not wait. Even when UK was in the EU not to abandon the pound I think that now it will be even harder with bitcoins in the UK. They are very conservative.

Lower the pound the more jobs will come Grin.

I was bracing for a low point BUT like i thought WHO WANTS TO STOP MAKING MONEY

We will be booming GB products don't fall apart like CHINESE TAT  Cheesy.
Lower the pound the more we will produce ..
The higher the pound the less we will produce ..

Some businesses will benefit from the brexit some wont..
But many new starter companies have a chance now to make something good..
EU had big companies smash the little guy..NOT NO MORE Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy..

The lower the pound the better.. OBVIOUSLY Not to low .

Anyone who produces something from the UK will be a massive success around the world Wink..
BRITISH PRODUCTS ARE IN HIGH DEMAND..Because of the fall in the pound we will sell all day..

I was hoping these big ELITE companies would go ..So new people could produce new products for the world.

Sick of the elite telling a country how it is    because you can put a factory in a nation and make loads of workers..WHILE PAYING NO TAX.. Angry Angry..GREEDY PEOPLE ..

Like FORDS CARS  ..Time for a new starter company to wipe fords out Wink..Well brexit can make it happen..

It gives the little guy a chance to make a new mass production car..
Not just cars many many companies WHO GOT TO BIG AND GREEDY ..SO I WANT THEM TO DIE Cheesy..
And some new company that will pay it's taxes will come along Grin..

I don't expect no down turn ..No body wants to not do business ..The EU will get told to FUCK OFF..
By companies because they are loosing money..

WE THE UK WILL BOOOOOOOOOM..

In Brexit there is nothing wrong. Especially no one wants to take Scotland into account. The Scots voted unanimously in favor of the European Union. The British voted unanimously. It is likely that Britain will no longer be Great Britain. But this is democracy, and it must go its own way.

I think this is a mistake of British. They will understand it later. Now Scotland and Northern Ireland want to remain in the EU and this may be the reason for their exit from the UK.

I always wondered why the UK joined the EU. I don't live on that side of the globe so I don't really follow the politics. But back before they joined I thought that the UK was doing just fine. The British pound was worth more that the USD. I think it was the highest valued currency before the EU join. I'm happy for the Brit's that they are leaving a union that seems to be run by Germany and France.

What will it do for BTC? Probably nothing. I hope all the brits go into alt coins instead  Grin..

Expensive currency is not always good. The higher the value of the currency more expensive product and the less it is competitive in the market. If the same product is 1 pound, 1 Euro and 1 dollar. Where will buy it?
