seems plenty of people are suspicious of the behavior of baikal lately and we just want some answers.
What's to be suspicious about?  Even if they are mining (and in their position I would do the same in a NY minute) they are doing so with the gear they designed and built.  They don't owe us anything.  If they decide to sell machines in two weeks and DASH is still on a tear, don't expect to be paying 500 bucks a unit the second time around either.

This is a privately held company turning a profit--I'm not sure what people are yelling about.

yeah I would be mining if I were them hands down,

price...not the problem... people are willing to pay more

if baikal are mining... not the problem...we get it, they have money printers

that is not the issue

the issue is everyone here in the community is like hmmm wtf is happening right now... you should see my inbox

we just want a bit of transparency and honesty, if they are mining just tell us

Ya I largely agree! The issue is not really that they are out of stock but rather that they have zero transparency at all. They could at least give us some time table so we aren't left expecting and we have the opportunity to make preparations. Well I have two more minis on the way that were purchased from other individuals so that makes 4 minis for me but I would easily wait to buy 9-10 quads if I had some time table of a new batch coming in. I also don't really care if they are mining with them right now but it would also still be nice to know that's what they are doing with them. I would simply like to be told the truth. Now maybe they really will be in stock by mid April but some assurance of that would be appreciated.

I dig it.  Communication can always be better, but I guess my point is that they don't owe us any communication either.  It would be awesome to be prepared, but don't forget that this is still the wild west!

It is easy - now they dont need you, maybe sometime later. They have enough VIP customers and according to me  they will sell slowly some little quantity to them.

True I understand that it is still in the early implementation stages but I guess I am a little bit needy and want some information.  Grin That being said I will likely purchase some parts to put together 3-4 gpu mining rigs for Zcash or Monero. The ROI is much much lower than these Baikals but the ease of purchasing equipment is easier and they still retain some small potential resale value. These Baikals would all but be worthless should a better miner come out from either the same company or another one.

My speculation: They are being silenced by a massive private order with a non-disclosure agreement.  All production is going toward a single, private customer - a Chinese warehouse full of miners.

On a side note, I myself have never built a gpu rig but can someone who has more experience than myself chime in? Roughly how many gpu's would I need to get 150mg/h? Similar to the baikal mini?

Thanks man.....I'm going to start looking at other avenues...Dash price is too high not to start exploring, and sourcing out used parts in my local craigslist.

I did talk to them tonight and although I wasn't really too satisfied with the answers I got I have a slightly better indication of what is going on now. I believe, based on me pressing him pretty hard, that there will be a new batch that is available for us to purchase. That being said don't quote me on that since he was still rather vague. He said that they literally cannot keep up with the demand for the units due to the explosion of the price of Dash. As far as building a GPU rig and comparing it to the Baikal Mini.... That is like comparing apples to oranges. Different algorithms and currencies hash at drastically different rates and also GPU rigs are far more difficult than the plug and play nature of ASICS.

Thx for reply...I was just trying to get a rough idea...would I need 10 of the higher end gpu's to achieve 150 mg/h. I know it likely sounds nuts what I'm asking...nevertheless I'm searching and reading as I'm posting this.

You could build a 5-6 GPU system that would get you 150mh/s mining on the Ethereum network. X11 isn't as efficient on GPU as Digger Hashimoto, you'd be much better off mining ETH and converting through NH an exchange to get your Dash. Keep in mind that system may run ~1200w, a far cry from Baikal's amazing wattage.

As it is approprate... the small 5 unit oder from piniedea was cancelled on a group buy (hmmmmmm me thinks it interesting all equip goes 'poof')

It is everywhere!

AS to this relates to baikal

Anyway what I think is going on is below.....(KNC took customers money..mined the Neptunes 6 plus month...were sued in Sweden and won the case! as an example)

Lol

This is what Avalon, butterfly labs, KNC miner, Spondolies all did back in the day. Yank a batch and
Mine them....while singing 🎤 "we're in the money". We are so SOTL on X11 miners.

Again if if that is NOT the case...just got on the baikal site....they allow you to order 100 at a pop or moere on the cart page
thus .even if they do come out with some without some kind  of 'que' with folk in line...or just because the baikal group buy
thread gets a heads up for mentioning them before they were 'famous'

I don't really see an angle a person could get these....anywhere but in China ..without some kinda pre-order list or some other angle
they will be gone probably within an hour (assuming anyone knew the hour to order)

ah well....not looking good ...especially if they open the baikal sale page again and whales can play with 100 a pop orders ..bingo / banko Smiley

So unless a group buy can be swung...I don't see how the heck we can get any (your our only hope obi wan) Smiley

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

i think we dream too much, be realistic a product who can generate 30$/days : we can buy it again if dash go down one day.

Absolutely right...
What would everyone else do?! Of course printing money instead of selling the gear that is left!
(that is the reason why some people are so upset btw.. because THEY aren´t printing right now..)

Would be nice if they would tell us something like "next batch not before X"... but as TracerX said.. they don´t have to.

since there is no availability for this, it can be good to consider selling them for more than the original price, like 5 btc, i was thinking about this possibility after all they are making nearly 0.03 per day...

To add to that I think that Ethereum and Zcash are your best bets right now for GPU mining. I would used RX 480's for Ethereum and probably GTX 1070's for Zcash mining.

Ya that is ridiculous and if the price of Dash were to decrease then this would be an insane buy. But on the other hand MUE is about twice as profitable with the push they have made recently.
