There needs to be an option for "Forgot my username to Mtgox". Hasn't happened to me though but some people were bitching a lot until they realized they just had the wrong username.

Oh shit, I misunderstood the poll and answered "exchange".. Please disregard one vote in that category.

My personality type: INTJ - please forgive my weaknesses (Not naturally in tune with others feelings; may be insensitive at times, tend to respond to conflict with logic and reason, tend to believe I'm always right)

is there even a proven case of stolen or "hacking" - who's to say that guy or any other guy has actually truely been hacked and isn't just f*cking with the market?

Newsflash - people lie on message boards ALL THE TIME.

It is not hypothetical. It is only for users to report a hacker stealing their coins.

Unless you hacked yourself... Which would be making your coins inaccessible through some user error/misadventure...

I hacked myself a few weeks ago (not BTC related).  I was playing around with WEP hacking and after ignoring my WPA2 protected network and WPA protected guest network I chose the next highest signal strength, a router with a random string of letters & numbers as the SSID.

After successfully cracking the WEP I connected to it and did a speed test.  I then checked my IP address to see who the provider was (speed was quite fast /humblebrag), but I thought the IP looked awful familiar.

After confirming it was indeed my home IP address I began to get alarmed, assuming some bitch had hacked my guest zone and was routing+repeating my network for his own gain.  A few more tests and I thought I'd check his router to confirm he was running DD-WRT or Tomato.  I was surprised to see a normal Verizon router login screen.

I started to feel a little stupid as I typed in my own admin password, but sure enough it logged me in to the router.

I had successfully hacked the built in verizon wifi network protected with 40-bit WEP that had been re-enabled when I had to restore defaults a few months earlier...

I felt extra smart that night.

Newsflash - the malware exists and has been found by Symantec.

I really don't think there has been... That is kind of the point of all this.

Not to mention we took everything 'in good faith' without any way to actually prove it was his in the first place, yeah. Hell, let me just point to a big transaction on the blockchain and become the next emo-coin kid. Could you prove I was wrong? Not really.

Based on the poll and the probable number of wallets stored on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS among voters, Windows is the most secure OS to hold your wallet.

Should update the poll so that people can also select I was not hacked and indicate their OS. Current version not so useful.

I thought I was hacked, but all the coins were just in my couch cushions - They had dog poop on them, so I had to take the covers off to wash them.
