GUIMiner Not Connecting to Eligius Pool

I am new to bitcoin mining and thought Eligius would be a good pool to start with. However, when I try to mine with my bitcoin miner, GUIMiner, it won't connect to Eligius. Since I am new to this, I am probably doing something wrong here, but I know I have the correct address. Someone please tell me why GUIMiner won't connect to Eligius!

You cannot meaningfully mine bitcoin with a CPU or GPU any more and guiminer only works with those, and more importantly the mining protocol changed between GPUs and modern ASICs from 'getwork' to 'stratum' and guiminer does not speak that protocol so it cannot mine to eligius.
