did i hear right he think 1000, to 20/30K....in a year???

No, but it sounded like that. In context it is clear he meant $20 to $30.

I'm mystified as to how the value of bitcoin fluctuates so wildly.  We know there is a strong underlying case for Bitcoin in certain markets so it will always have use.  We know that prices will shoot up when we get to 21 million as the supply will have disappeared.  At that point I expect a stable price and will probably unload my investment.  What baffles me is how it can increase and decrease in multitudes of its own price several times a month.

You have 2800 posts and know nothing about bitcoin?

When we get to 21 million you will be dead, so if you wait to "unload your investment" by then you will be the richest in the cemetery. We will get to 21 million in 2140.

Actually I am holding out for cloning to keep me on life support until the ability to upload myself to the cloud and live forever as part of the Singularity.

Money won't be of much use once we reach the singularity.

Unfortunately MtGox will be DDOS'd, and the price will go back to 100'ish. This is what has happened the entire couple week(s) now. I doubt it will go to 150 this month, maybe next month. Or if there is no attack on the biggest exchange.

Or more exchanges come online to give Mt.Gox a bit more competition.

Funnily enough, all of Gox's competition seems to be ending up closed due to hacks, "hacks", regulatory problems or bankruptcy.

I'm just sayin'....
