Police in Chicago have arrested a 14-year-old boy over the the sexual assault of a teenage girl by a group of young men that was broadcast live on the internet.
The attack on a 15-year-old victim was streamed on Facebook and watched by about 40 people who did not report it .

I just couldn't find the words to describe how I feel after reading this article honestly, what a world we live in really. What shocked me the most is the age of that boy and the fact that 40 people was watching without reporting it or calling the authorities.

This would suggest that this was a rape, because the streamed evidence counts as child porn, but there's no mention of it in the article. How did the attack end? In America there is a rule to close information about juvenile offenders. This is done to ensure that their future is not affected by the sins of the past. I am against this approach, but it is probably for this reason, information can not be found.

It's not shocking nowadays to see such videos. Such creeps just take videos of women being beaten up or assaulted and upload it live for fame and then people on the roads just watch the molesters without even blinking their eye. Nobody even has the courage or humanity to report these crimes and then others talk about the police and the law not taking any harsh steps against such criminals.

If this news is true, this is just sickening. 40 people watched the stream and didn't even think of calling for help. What has this world gone to? Considering this is a minor, what penalty would he receive?

This reminded me of that video of 4 teens abusing a mentally-ill guy, it seem that it's becoming more common for them to brazenly advertise their hatred and contempt for others while desensitized people just watch the spectacle.

BTW, was that abuse video also taken in Chicago? Whatever happened to the place? I don't live in the US but I don't remember hearing Chicago as a dangerous place when I was a kid.

Heck, they're more likely to reveal the victim's identity first before that of the criminal's. Especially if the criminal is some sort of "minority" that they feel need to be "protected".

This is not "the world", it is facebook stream. And I dont even know, what is supposedly the "modern" generation. Anybody younger than you Jofrey? Minorities? People who use stream?

Internet has nasty habit of lending its users mistaken feelings of anonymity and with it invincibility. Of course, it is not so. The young criminal in the article have already found out.

I am afraid you are right. Authorities do not seem so concerned about "privacy rights" of criminals, who come from within native, majority population.

I wouldnt be suprised either if perpetrator got away with psychological care at clinic. Liberals are more concerned about feelings of criminals, than justice for victims and victim families.

The world is starting to be devoid or moral conscience and responsibility towards other people. Personal gain and greed has taken over people have evolved into a public oriented individual to a self serving individual. The rate of teen sexual assault is increasing globally. I don't understand why one will rape a little girl were there are alot of harlots on the street if you most have sex. The most amazing is that about forty people watch it stream online without their consent alert them that that little girl is going through the most evil from his fellow human beings and not animals or spirit.

A lot of the kids these days have been exposed to the society where it's okay to have that nudity just being exposed to the internet, and it's so easy to access pornographic content, and if they are curious about the things, they can quickly search it. That could cause the kids to have a mental connection on how that works and maybe wants to take it to the extreme. You don’t know why they did not report it, I don’t know exactly the contents of what was streamed but maybe they did not believe it was real or maybe when they were watching no illegal act was being committed yet, so it is not as easy as you think.

You don’t know why they did not report it, I don’t know exactly the contents of what was streamed but maybe they did not believe it was real or maybe when they were watching no illegal act was being committed yet, so it is not as easy as you think.

People usually don't know what to do in such situation and they don't want to get involved. One call and you might end up being traced, asked to come for a questioning, write and sign a statement, who knows on what "invigilation list" you'll end up. I know it's not right to watch a girl being assaulted, but if I saw that on random, not knowing what I clicked on, I'd think they're making a prank video like one of those where youtubers pretend to be attacked to see if people react and help the victim.
