Even Bishops are human beings capable of doing mistakes against oneself and other people. When temptation strikes hard then even the most religious man in the world will surely have a hard time coping with it. This even just shows that the bishop was lacking in prayers and the people around him does not pray for him thus letting him weak and fall short when the temptation kicks in.

Even Bishops are human beings capable of doing mistakes against oneself and other people. When temptation strikes hard then even the most religious man in the world will surely have a hard time coping with it. This even just shows that the bishop was lacking in prayers and the people around him does not pray for him thus letting him weak and fall short when the temptation kicks in.

The structure of the church also seem to aid these abuses and that's what really infuriate people. They always try to settle this out of court and sometimes it only come out in public when the family refuse to settle and then report to the police. It could have been worse had the church been Catholic - that has been known for spiriting away offending priests to other dioceses while they're reviewing the case. In some cases, they even send them away to other countries. You could have a new possible pedophile priest in your diocese and you wouldn't even know.

I'm from the Philippines and when I saw a documentary about this practice at a local network years ago, I was really angry. They're not even tried as normal criminals but instead the church is given some leeway on handling them. Even when the victim does proceed with the complaint, they usually just move the offender to some retreat house while the case is being heard. Until they're convicted they can be moved to other provinces and continue work like nothing happened and with the parishioners clueless.

And that's how you get a string of sexual abuses. Abuse here, move somewhere and abuse more. By the time the first case resolved, there are already other cases being hidden.

I don't remember the exact details but in that docu they tried to track down a priest from the US that was "reassigned" here after complaints there. As usual the journalists were not able to get to him hiding behind the bishop's high walls.

Well, the catholoc church really needs some fixing from within. These issues are beyond alarming already and it seems that the church, being a religious institution, has a lot of its people taking advantage of the power and authority given to them.

Many people involved in the church and have various offices eg priests, bishops, etc., not because they want to be close to God but because it's an easy way solving their financial problems. Several of them choose their victims from the weakest people and simultaneously believe that justice will not accuse of anything they will do because the church will protect them. The increased incidents of pedophilia did the Pope of Rome Francis to say, 'I ask humbly apologize for pedophiles priests'.
