i am happy to see the video and i think it will be the first girl to use bitcoin for survive challenge and i think this will give good impact for other japanese people as bitcoin will be ready to use in japan and there are more store that will accepting bitcoin. i think its a good news too for us in bitcoin industry and its a new thing that we can do in other place which bitcoin is already know.

The point is to demonstrate that someone can live on bitcoins. They can hold 100% bitcoins instead of other currencies and do just fine. I have done this so I know it can be done.

There are many services that are helpful such as gift cards or a third party like purse.io, even BitPay is not direct bitcoin to the merchant. Trying to be all 100% and "pure" is just silly at this stage of Bitcoin. I gladly pay for my web hosting service even if they accept BitPay instead of me directly sending my bitcoin to the merchant's wallet.

This is new to Japan so them getting the word out with stunts like this is just fine.

It's better than the journalist in the US who tried it in the early days and when trying to get a subway ticket he stood outside of the station with a sign that said "will pay bitcoin for a ticket", when he could have gone online, used bitspend (at the time) to buy a subway ticket online. His conclusion: other than one or 2 niche stores, you can't use your bitcoins.

AFAIK japan's electronics design and chip lithography are very good. They could have the capacity to produce next generation ASIC chips if they decided to pursue that goal

Mining in its present form is dead already

I mean with all that expensive mining hardware. In fact, it is dead even twice. As I would say, it is dead conceptually, and if something doesn't get changed on its own (in a evolutionary way), it will be changed forcefully (in a revolutionary way). But it is already dead on purely technical grounds as well, there is no more room left to increase hash rates due to technological limits. You can't indefinitely raise CPU frequencies (in a meaningful way), it is basically the same with asics. Further increasing their capacity would require enormous capital but that simply doesn't make sense. In short, asics mining is at a dead end from both sides of the stick

I have long been wondering if/when some of the big chip makers (Samsung Electronics, Toshiba, etc.) have not gotten in to making ASIC chips for Bitcoin.

It would seem to me that Samsung or Toshiba would be in a position to make MILLIONS of these chips a dominate the space.

Maybe the economics don't justify it yet (BTC market too small?).

Why would they want to use Bitcoin apart from going after some girl, really? Men do a lot of stupidest things in this regard, for example, rob banks (or just buy jewelries when they don't need to rob banks), but will it have any lasting effect? What about female businessmen (businesswomen) then? Should we equip some macho with a bunch of bitcoins and send him to a male strip club to advertise for Bitcoin?

Yea, we also had a guy who paid $150 for a beer at a local pub when he got a bit tipsy and there will be people who would exploit this. This is no different for any other currency, because you can do the same with cash or credit cards. What you can do, is to use a separate wallet for "social" nights.... Just transfer enough for the night before you go out.
This will prevent scrupulous bar men to clear your Bitcoin balance. 

BitKan App could contain some reference pricings in a database and popup an alert if figures don't fit. That would be the modern way to do. Easy on beer.
But..
I would not tell any App anything about what I am trying to buy or rent (Kimonos are out of question here) and many users might feel similar concerns regarding their privacy.
