First of all, I by no means guarantee this method prevents all malicious attempts. But if you ask for it, it decreases malicious chances.

I have experienced there are many digital products, e-books, online accounts and so on being sold here.

I hope, you know, you could always request the seller to:
- create a hash from the content of the e-book
- from the content he could access only with a premium account
and so on.

And you could always ask a trusted out-of-business person to do the same and then compare the two hash codes.

If they match, the seller most likely has the product (or know someone who has it )

We are a crypto community, after all. If you are a seller, now you have an additional method to prove your business' fairness.

This is a very useful tool, thanks to which you may prevent getting scammed, and I think that it is a very good idea to use it every time, when trading on forum (if the hashing is possible).

But the thing that concernes me, is that you obviously need some access for example to the e-book, but what is the point of buying it, if you can already access that thing?

Without some truster partner or a friend, you won't be able to see the hash, unless someone is very kind to you, and show you it just for free.

Maybe you could save a serialized collection of checksums / digital signatures in a blockchain which would allow people to compare it to the products they download to ensure legitimacy?

Probably, you could find someone on the forum with the item. The person does not have to share the item with you, just the hash. From the hash, you do not know the content so does not break copyright. However, you can know if the hash is different than what the seller's trying to sell.

There is a working service for that already.

It is not my intention to advertise any platform's solution now, but if you are truly interested, I can suggest an open-source example.
