Internet is an important network, but it is not THE network. This week, I made a presentation at a national military tech conference where someone made a presentation about a blockchain system in a field mobile military network. The exciting part was how a group of military units (could include armored vehicles, tanks, flying drones...etc.) can maintain secure communication system using a blockchain without internet connection. So, when internet goes off, you can cry like a pussy or stock up a military unit in your basement and run the blockchain with your tanks.

If internet network can get destroyed, it useful to have a few tanks, anyway (:

I guess that what they use in this case is an intranet and a private blockchain and they have devised such a system for cases in which the internet can fall and to make unauthorized access to their data more difficult.

The internet appeared not so long time ago and now it is playing big role in the life of all society. I don't think that we will be able to find some alternative to bitcoin in the case if the internet connection will be lost. In my brain appear only the idea of coming back to old methods of banking with gold and fiat and paper work.

I agree with you, I think it is a big problem, if one day the network internet totally dead. Local currencies it's not enought when we talk about the financial system. World need technologie, so the internet is based from it.

Correct, so much losses and damage since it is $20 billion dollar market capitalization or more is lost. When network is dead, then this cryptocurrency become useless in my opinion. The IT industry is back to stone age.

Every transaction has a connection with the internet, so a downfall in the internet development will surely cause a drastic failures in the financial services lended all around through different sources. Exactly. Everything else uses the internet so why wouldn't they be dead too? Then would people soley use cash? I doubt it. It would just get fixed or something better would come out of it.

For me, Hmm.. revive it!! .. well if it died totally then all our efforts and stuff about bitcoin will be gone.. unless we already converted it to real money before it happens .. but i guess we shouldn't depend on bitcoins and put some time and effort in real money rather than digital

I agree with you that we should not depend on bitcoin only because there is a worst case scenario like this topic that someday the internet will go down and all our money in bitcoin will be gone and that is a huge loss for us because we put a lot of effort in earning bitcoin and the internet will just go down so it is better to do back up earnings in real money aside from bitcoin.

If there are no internet then use the alternative way, use Fiat just like when the cellphone communication had been paralyze just use snail mail that I think it is still available until today for some bill information when you are receiving certain  electric, water, internet bill I think it can not be a problem because there are the old fashion way to do it!

in theory with two people connecting the client via lan, it's like having a home network for bitcoin, there must be a way to allow the client to recognize a sub network in case internet service provider can't povide their service

i'm sure that if there was no internet, with a WAN between miners, they can build the network of bitcoin withou internet, it's not so different than a mesh network

i agree with you and if there is no internet, its mean that every transaction that has been made is pending and we can not see the transaction is getting confirmed and the amount of bitcoin that send is still pending. i can not imagine if this is really happen and i think chaos will be happen in all places and the all aspect will be gets problems too as for now, internet is like primary things that people use in daily life. every financial is also getting a big problem too so many people in all country will have the big problem too.

The internet has spread around the world, and it has become an integral part of the present life. Assuming it really happened, I'm afraid it will affect the whole of life. When people are accustomed to something, it is difficult to give up. However, that is just history, it will never happen. So, do not worry about it!
