Yea, because we never had something like a worldwide scale EMP bombardment. It's possible to shut down the internet by cutting off the major datacenters. This wouldn't make it disappear, but would significantly limit the access. The network would become much slower and even though it would technically still be there you would have to wait in line to access information. Same thing would happen with bitcoin, it wouldn't cease to exist because it's impossible to destroy every single node in the world, but you wouldn't be able to move your coins.

The only solution is to wake you up from your bad dream. The scenario that you are referring to happens only in Hollywood movies. Well, technically, you can access the blockchain through other means, however it would require some centralized infrastructure and that isn't anything close to what most people would want.
For example, you could use carrier pigeons to access the blockchain, but it would be slow, require someone to tally down the information for you, and you'd need to make sure the pigeons got fed.
