If Bitcoin Centeral keep getting compromised, something is dangerously wrong.

Either their code has a gaping hole in their security, easy to exploit, or their host provider is the security hole. Or both.

Did you even read what happened. It was a problem with the hoster.

Considering the source, this phrase works quiet well "Don't believe everything you read on the internet".
They are blaming the host, so at least some blame can be deflected. Either way it was still their fault.

Who in their right mind would have an exchange holding that much BTC and have it hosted on a rented server.
Colo or self-hosted is how it should be done, that way you know realistically only the owner can access it, not a 3rd party too.

but Boussac wrote "You may also leave them with us until we resume operations"

Can anyone confirm that the second is an option as it seems to contradict first option - "Users will be EXPECTED to clear their accounts"

The true story is that everything <1€ will remain forever in their pockets: I've asked a withdrawal of 341.78€, 341€ have been effectively withdrawn. The unusable rest (0.78€) remains in my account balance.
Not much money but, notwihtastanding they charge us for  this emergency withdrawal, it feels strange to give them another bounty for their failure(s)...

It's true that comparing to the money made by mtgox during lag panics, they are tiny players...

But something seems a little bit rotten in bitcoinland

Is there some particular reason that .78 Eur can not be withdrawn ? Last time I checked you could transfer 178 or 178.34 EUR from any bank account, no problems.
