We will see a clear winner. It won't be for several years though. I'm still putting all my chips on litecoin.
I think litecoin loses prestige with ETH and other new coins. But litecoin still lives and competes. But I'm a bit hesitant with litecoin.

I don't think that those two will have chance against bitcoin. It's clear that bitcoin has a bigger value with it's market cap and ETH and LTC is very far from it so I don't think that it is going to be a good chance for those alt coins because bitcoin will always be on the top. I will remain with bitcoin as the price keeps on climbing.

I will certainly stay with bitcoin for sure, and just like you said the price is getting a little bit what some is expecting and that is going up, but some Altcoins was fighting decently but they are more far back behind bitcoin, but still there are many investors keeps on investing to these Alts because of a certain changes in some things they are doing. well we just need to take a look out on some things other that bitcoin once in a while!
Ethereum is the only real altcoin with any potential to compete with Bitcoin, and even then it's starting to drag behind Bitcoin as BTC starts to take off. The only time anyone was really worried or considering Bitcoin being beaten by ETH was back when BTC was under $1k, now it's almost entirely out of reach.
Alts are great for pumps n dumps, but not a whole lot else. They're a very selective bunch, and can make money, but likely won't all that often.

@keketex144, i agree with you sir. bitcoin is really the mother of all these altcoins we are having right now. that is why for me no altcoin or any other cryptocurrency that can replace bitcoin. there maybe lot of rivals but i dont think they can ever replace bitcoin. of all these cryptocurrencies, bitcoin has more solid ground compared to any altcoins.

Whenever, we are talking about future, than we only predict about it, May be we are right and may be we are wrong. But if we see the time, than bitcoin has best time and first crypto currency and people like it more than others alt-coins.
So in my thinking, may be it is hard that any other altcoin come to comparative the bitcoin. But may be in future anyone alt coin will come, and will give a hard time to bitcoin.

i am agree, but altcoin is giving a chance for us to increase our bitcoin in short term or long term. the existing altcoin will help us to grow our bitcoin with trading btc-altcoin so i don't think that altcoin is against bitcoin but i would prefer to say that altcoin exist is to help bitcoin to grow more higher than before. if we can take profit from trading btc-alt, then we can grow our bitcoin too. there are no altcoin that will capable to against bitcoin because bitcoin is always the leader in crypto currency world.

Bitcoin has a lifetime of more than 10 years still. So I dont think altcoins have any chance till then. Any altcoin it may be, Eth or LTC may pass Bitcoin in the future but its far from now for sure.

Actually that's true, I only invest to altcoin using bitcoin so its like bitcoin is the main source of the other coins, and even the demand and the payment system from signature campaigns uses bitcoin, so it will be hard for another coin to surpass bitcoin. Another reason why altcoins can't surpass bitcoin is the features of bitcoin, maybe in investment reasons ETH, ETC, and LTC might be better but about its features, I'm not sure. Bitcoin lives over 10 years and still counting and they developed everything from the beginning so for a altcoin to overcome bitcoin they will take many years for this to be possible.

A lot of altcoins out there have a chance for replacing the bitcoin because the developers of the altcoins see the common problems in bitcoin and they fix it by creating another kind of coin that solve the problems in bitcoin but basically, they are not popular yet because a lot of people or the majority of people here focus in bitcoin but when the network gets slower, the bitcoin users will migrate to another faster cryptocurrency.

Bigger value doesn't mean it'll holding on to be number one, it all depends on many factors and what make the value of a coin is high is the demands. So, it's come to conclusion that the main factor which affect the position of altcoin very much is demands, the rest is like the development and project regarding of the coin and so on.
And also, the acceptance of coin in the world might be a tool to determine whether the coin is popular or not, and not just a trading tool.

Its in the long run now bitcoin is going more popular when the last last or past years bitcoin has a good potential to be increase by the year past not like atlcoins whether the bitcoin will dump alts are increasing. Nope im not agree with eth or ltc. eth are depending his self with bitcoin also ltc so there no possibilities that it could be pass bitcoin in future.

No, because there is at least a domain where Bitcoin will excell this is in store of value. For big international transfer also, Bitcoin will stay the king because when transfering 10BTC a 2 mBTC fee is not a problem. Only for micro-transactions Bitcoin could let some place to some other crypto-currency.

Even collectively the current crop of Altcoins stand no chance with Bitcoins, they are all forking each other and lack genuineness and innovation. If there will ever be an alt to unseat Bitcoin the hen it has to be different in approach than the current Alts.

It is hard to determine whether any alt coins will be competent enough to challenge bitcoin even in the future,ETH can be used as a contract and you do not call that a currency and Litecoin is a script coin and with the activation of segwit the price of litecoin started its rally but there is no way that either or any coins will over take as the superior coin, when people are looking for privacy then anonymous coins will be a benchmark for online transactions.

I have been seeing Bitcoins' price rising with a stability in its growth, but due to the higher mining fee that is being levied on transactions these days, big businesses are now moving their funds towards alts and taking advantage with their least fees as well as shaping a completely new economy in the trends of altcoin markets. Do you think this may harm Bitcoin's dignity and open up a chance in real for alts to rise?

Yes Altcoin's with good functions can rise and co-exist to compete with Bitcoin. Litecoin has been around the longest but coins with good dev teams and frameworks can succeed looking at Ethereum Dash Maid Nxt Monero etc these coins all have a decent userbase that may use Bitcoin as the trading mechanism but use their own coins as well in normal transactions.
Market cap and usage may spread out if the fees stay high in the long run but there will still be the main driver others may take the sideseating though.

I don't really think any altcoin will take over from bitcoin but it will have brothers and sister coins. Altcoin is to bitcoin as bitcoin is to the USD. So altcoin doesn't really need to have a chance with bitcoin. Unless a newer better version of bitcoin with better technology comes out. Its mostly up to the technology behind the coin and not the coin itself.
I think even though altcoin has great technology though. If the user prefers and believes in bitcoin. Then the altcoin will not be able to do anything including take over

It is unnecessarily possible that bitcoin users couldn't consider altcoins since most of bitcoin holders are traders. Althogh bitcoin can stand alone without the presence of altcoin/crypto currency coins, digital currency would not be considered if there is no other currencies being traded with bitcoin except fiat money.

BIG WINNER!

Althogh bitcoin can stand alone without the presence of altcoin/crypto currency coins, digital currency would not be considered if there is no other currencies being traded with bitcoin except fiat money.

it is not supposed to be just about trading. but yeah these days altcoins are only for trading and nothing else. you join the pump and dumps and make money from them.
but in fact altcoins are supposed to be alternative ways of exploring different possibilities in cryptocurrency world. offering new features, different ones. and a lot more interesting stuff, which all have been forgotten and only the money is all people think about when it comes to altcoins.

There is a FOMO brewing...
